GOINg to MPLS to see the Revolution- what should I do in MPLS?

I have a map of all the Prince landmarks, just curious if anyone had any suggestions for that weekend in September?

I have tickets for Saturday night. Should I go to Dakota's on Friday night? Any other good hangouts that might have a good Prince cover band or play Prince songs? Any Prince proteges playing in a club that weekend? Whats the best web site to find out whats going on?

I'm going on Thursday the 1st - and I live in ND so I only have about 5-6 hours of a drive. There is a really cool place called The Pour House that has trap doors and stuff - it's a club/bar thing and they have shows there. I'm thinking about going there afterward but I'm not 100% on that yet.

It's gonna be a good time though - I'm super excited - I never got to see Prince while he was around and so this concert has some spiritual closing overtones to me.

Anybody else gonna be there???

Also, let me say this, as a person who, like most of us here, had to deal with scalpers and generally a bunch of crap just to get these tickets I'm so happy to see that it is against forum rules to advertise for anything over face value.

I'm increasingly frustrated with the experience of having to buy tickets second hand because a bunch of greedy people want to blackmail music fans. Thank you for that!

Yeah I'm going on Thursday the 1st too. Flying in from Boston. Leaving my wife and kids. I'm super excited. Getting in early Thurs morn and just gonna drive around MPLS. That trap door spot sounds crazy. I might wanna check that. I got a day and a half to have some fun. Haha. Might go purify my body in the lake as well. Or stick my feet in. We'll see.

I believe it is 2am - or at least it was last time I was there.

I don't know if we're supposed to do this here, anonymity and all that, but my name is Jake, and I'll be wearing a shirt with George Clinton's face on it. If you see me, and a dude who will look obviously related to me, feel free to step by and talk for a little bit.

There is a lot of cool stuff to do in MPLS so I'm sure you guys will have a good time - plus it's not so cold yet that it'll be unbearable to you. I'm from this region, born and raised, and sometimes it's too much for me even.

Prince was right when he said it kept a lot of bad people away though - that and spiders (Prince didn't say that though) - so I stay here haha

Well alright Jake I'll keep a look out for you. I'm Kevin and I think I might rock my LotusFlwr tee for the first time. It's really the only shirt I got to wear. My tour shirts I bought XL to hang like posters. I don't know what I was thinking. But yeah if folks see me with black Lotus tee on say hi. Be cool to meet some orgers. See u Thurs night.

I have a question to any folks who live in the area or know the area. My flight gets in at 9am. But I can't get into my hotel till 3. So I'm getting it in early. But is there anything close to the airport I should hit? I plan to go to The Park, Dakota, lake Minnetonka and Electric Fetus. Prob hit that Mall too. Just trying to map it out. And I know most of these aren't even open that early, but I'm talking post b'fast. Thanks for any help.

The Mall of America is very close to the airport. Might as well go there first. I like the Electric Fetus store so that would be on my list too. Where are you staying? That might be all you have time for besides lunch? I'm going to the Friday night show. Hope you have fun while visiting here!

I landed at 10 and went straight to Electric Fetus. Then the Park and then lunch over at Calhoun Square. Staying at the Mariott City Center.

Cool we are going to Paisley on Saturday. So far I checked out Dakota's jazz club, First Ave and the mural with the musical notes. No driving yet!

Be warned. I thought I was good and I walked up to that fence and almost lost it. It was like he passed all over again. Ugh. That was rough. Luckily I wasn't the only one. Lots of folks were feeling it. The park was busy with cars coming in and out.
