The real fans/fams don't adore everything Prince does...

.

I did not mean that fams are real fans. Fams are non-critical. Fans can be critical.

.

I don't get how someone can like music and "not like piano". It's one of the basic instruments. That's equivalent not liking guitar or drums.

.

It's a taste thing.

.

Anyway, hearing P play a 80 min of music at the piano is exquisite for most every hardcore fan. If you need to hear Purple Rain and Kiss every show, then that's cool, but you aren't a hardcoe Prince fan by any means.

.

Shows without Kiss and without Purple Rain can be the better ones.

From what you heard of the recording, excluding the yelling from the crowd, what did you think of it? (The first show was the worst with the yelling from the crowd during quiet moments. That show was much more sedate, reflective, but of course, rather than respecting that ... one woman in particular was sitting behind me, and I would have to lean foward, away from her, to be able to hear, and she was very crude with some of the things she was saying, but it still couldn't dampen my enjoyment of the concert. For some reason, I never felt the need to yell that out to him. I figure if I'm there, watching him in concert, he knows it.)

I thought it sounded really good. When Will We B Paid? and Dark were the standouts for me. I really didn't even notice people yelling out during the songs. Maybe if I were to listen to it a few times I would, but I didn't on first listen. I wish it was one of the Paisley Park shows that was being released, though. I'm looking forward to hearing Indifference. Was it the whole song?

.

Indifference was in the second show.

IIRC, I think Indifference was in the second show. I'll have to look after work to verify.

Of all of the great live shows he has done and he releases the most boring tour of his career. It figures!!

What a weird comment. Are you a troll from justinbieber.com or something? I hate to say it, but the "real" fans are the ones who adore this tour and of course Prince.org is mostly filled with real fans. So very odd thing to say here.

So be it. If I am not a "real fan" because I hate this solo piano thing than fine. I prefer a full band show. Solo piano by ANYONE is torture for me. I have seen him live over 30 times, have every cd to date and 1000+ bootlegs and share the boots so others don't buy from bootleggers. I am not as big of a fan as some others here I admit. He is my favorite artist but I listen to hundred of others also. Its weird to me the way people personnaly attack others here who so they don't like something he does. Sorry that I do not like this but I don't. For me its the worst tour of his career and I can't wait for him to move on from it!! I would rather see a show based off of Phase 1 and 2 cds with a full band. That would be hot to me as those two cds are two of the best he has put out in quite some time. Hopefully phase three is coming soon!!

Did he play the whole song, or just part of it?

Cool. Definitely looking forward to that one, if things don't change with the release of the live album.

Ok you are obviously a real hardcore fan then, but just an unusual one then, to not enjoy sitting and watching Prince sitting at the piano and singing. And it wasn't a personal attack but you just sounded troll-like with your initial post.

But Phase 1 and 2 are two of his worst albums ever, so again, you just have unusual taste but nothing wrong with that. There are some albums of his that I like a lot as well that others do not. 3121 and NewPowerSoul are two examples.

This is the most brilliant ,personal tour that prince has EVER done in his life! It's the perfect way to prove what a MASTER he is on the keyboard & show off his flawless, 3 octave vocal range . That leads up to his very first MEGA memoir next year. With his first personal dvd(or however he choses)concert release in over several decades.

it's hard to believe he was suffering from the flu during those per4mances. But I remember I had the flu & still sung lead in the choir sounding better than ever. I guess as long as we're motivated.

prince has come FULL circle this year & I'm proud of him!

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Having heard several of these shows, including Atlanta, his voice wasn't nearly as strong there. Maybe he was getting over the flu, maybe he had a cold. But as strong as his voice has been in other cities at other shows, Atlanta wasn't his best performance. He should've waited another week or two before making it up to Atlanta. As a result, Atlanta wouldnt be the show I would use to highlight this tour, if I was Prince. Although there would be a live version of Chopsticks played by Prince.....

My preference (if I magically had the power to decide what show would get released) would be Oakland Paramount - early or late, or both. He had a lot of energy at those shows.

The Auckland early show is amazing too.... From my point of view the I Feel 4 U / Controversy / Ruff Enuff from Auckland is great. I love the Auckland version of Controversy. Especially during the transition from I Feel 4 U into Controversy. Then he goes into Condition of the Heart and Noon Rendezvous.

The late show at Paisley Park was awesome as well. A big downside to the Paisley Park shows is that they didnt have Dirty Mind/ LRC intertwined yet. And that is done so well, it needs to be highlighted.
