i can't remember the setlist, sorry. I just want to say that the interpolations of
little red corvette / dirty mind / linus and lucy

and

waiting in vain / if i was your girlfriend

are awesome. Purple music sorta-kinda doesn't work and just gives a bizarre vibe. It made me laugh, I genuinely liked it 'cause it's weird Prince.

I'm also glad I got to hear Elephants and Flowers.

It was an incredible show.

I recall (not all in correct order) Joy in Repition, the Most Beautiful Girl in the World, I Feel For You, the Little Red Corvette/Dirty Mind/Charlie Brown medley, Controversy, I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star, Black Sweat, Cream, Black Muse, Take Me With U, Starfish and Coffee Kiss, How Come You Don't Call Me..., If I Was Your Girlfriend/Waiting in Vain, A Case of You, Free Yourself, Diamonds and Pearls, Nothing Compares 2 U/Beautiful Ones/Purple Rain (sorry I am forgetting some - I don't know some of his newer stuff).

I could watch him sing and play piano all night.

I didn't see these shows. I agree with fusk though. I found that Purple Music didn't work very well in his Sydney shows either. I can't remember which one. Purple Music needs the full range of instruments to work properly IMO.

I agree Purple Music seemed like an odd choice at the SOH show 2 that I was at, it did not fit in with the rest of the songs. But I still loved it of course, but part of me wondered how occaisional Prince fams may have found that one? I could see my daughter was thinking "what is this ?????" razz

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

What an awesome show! I've seen Prince many times and this was one of my favourite performances. I thought I would miss his guitar and band, but he was so engaged with the crowd and seeing him perform songs I'd never seen before was worth every penny. I barely missed the ripping guitar.

Great mixture of songs, but the highlights for me were his performances of:
A Case of You
Waiting in vain/If I was your girlfriend
Girl
Elephants $ Flowers

Thank you Prince! It was a beautiful night! I hope you'll be back in TO soon.

P.s. Thank you to the person that posted the set list in the other thread.

I had never heard Purple Music before, so the novelty of it alone excited me. Plus the crowd did the soul clap admirably. I think it was better in the first show though.

yeah, hearing 3000+ people do the double time clap thing is really fun. Especially when it's in service of a pretty weird song to play on piano. Just to be clear, I liked hearing purple music. It's a wink and a thumbs up to the hardcore fans like me, and I appreciate that.

At the concert I went to in Melbourne I thought Purple Music was one of the standout numbers of the night; you can't please/displease everyone, I guess. It had everyone out of their seats and dancing and I'd bet half of them had never heard it before in their lives ... me included!!

excited
