I am going to do my best to capture the 7pm setlist for everyone. Will try to keep track of it in the Notes section of my phone. But fear the device will be ripped from my hands by well-trained Sony Centre ushers.

Will be looking for fans across the street at Oliver and Bonacini Front Street Grill for early Good Friday dinner and drinks.

Pretty late on this, but...

I take a standard 8 1/2 x 11 piece of card stock (thick paper) and fold it into 8ths. I bring a pen and the card stock. I write the time he comes on stage, and then I scribble the song title or at least an abbreviation I will know. I put (1) in the upper corner. Once my scribbling, usually four or five songs fills up a section, I flip, put a (2) at top... Takes me all of about 10 secs to pull out of pocket, write and tuck back in. No flash light needed.

I keep them and they are pretty fun to look back upon.

I thought I was joking about Sony Centre security shutting down a nerd writing a setlist on a notes page on a phone. But they did, so this is half phone/half scribblin' in the dark. 90% accurate is my promise:

Start: 7:40pm

I Would Die 4 U

Baby I am A Star

Dorothy Parker

Dolphin/Heroes (David Bowie)

I Could Never Take............

Use Me (Bill Withers)

How Come U Don't.......

Waiting in Vain (Bob Marley)/If I Was Your Girlfriend

I Love You, But..........

A seemingly improvised, meanspirited song about a love gone wrong........

Black Sweat

Kiss

Little Red Corvette/Dirty Mind/Charlie Brown Theme Song

Beautiful Ones

Take Me With U

Raspberry Beret

Starfish and Coffee

Paisley Park

Free Yourself Medley

Nothing Compares 2 U

Purple Rain

End: 9:20pm

I am a "I want to see Prince with his Guitar" guy, but I was surprised how much I enjoyed this show. He was having fun as was the crowd. Bowie cover was beautiful, Withers cover funky, Marley soulful.

What did others think?

Thank you so much for sharing. It is nice to get a first person account of the concert (and an accurate set list) which is hard to do without some kind of note taking. At least you didn't get booted out for you efforts. wink

He was great. Those I went with were actually floored but complaining that his show was too short.

Wow, Heroes... Saw the snippet and was amazed. It should be just a matter of time when more of it will be available...

If he played Heroes for more than like 20 seconds, this is now my #1 must-hear Prince performance. Holy shit.

The Toronto Sun

It was a Good Friday in Toronto alright.

And then some.

Prince came to town with two back-to-back last minute “intimate and exclusive” shows at the Sony Centre just in time to launch the Easter long weekend in serious musical style.

And The Purple One didn’t disappoint

The Toronto Star

For close to 90 minutes during the 7 p.m. show at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts — his second two-show appearance at the venue within 10 months, announced only 48 hours earlier — the Minneapolis native revealed his prowess on the ivories as he performed a variety of hits, covers and yet-to-be-released material on a purple electric grand.

It’s not that anyone doubted the multiple-Grammy-Award-winner’s ability to dominate another instrument as well as the 57-year-old wields a guitar; it’s just that most haven’t had a chance to see him work it proper, since the axe is usually his contraption of choice.
