Started with Joy in Repetition. It was strange hearing his version of Waiting in Vain. The Love We Make had snippets of Pink Cashmere. I wish he would do more of Strange Relationship. He did 30-45 seconds of it. Too much of the Purple Rain album now. The Beautiful Ones in the second show was amazing. He aborted SISIA to go into Purple Rain. Cream and Kiss and Diamonds and Pearls in both shows. Lots of people removed for not following phone rules. More in the second show than the first.

Started out w/ Joy & Repition sounding like the og version to maybe 100 people. So many were worried getting booze and a lot of people missed the 1st 5-7 songs. All I have to say is The Love We Make going into Pink Cashmere back into TLWM,back into PC. SISIA was played for maybe 30 seconds n went into Purple Rain which was BS. Also didn't need to hear in both sets take me w you, HCUDCMA, Kiss, the 2nd Beautiful Ones was way better than the 1st but full lengths on both sets, etc. When yr only going to play 1hr 30mins-1hr 45m sets and seeing all the diff stuff in Australia, it's not like he couldn't throw some other stuff in. Both amazing, each have there highlights. 1 thing the best he did on both sets was Little red into dirty mind (vice versa). I'm hyped, amped, & want mo music!!Why couldn't P do 2 days here. Oh well, was still epic, espicially the gutted purple baby grand sounds better than the Yamaha he used in Australia

It was my first live show. I was completely mesmerized, though I was sitting next to a woman that was coughing on me the whole show. I'm so glad he played Sometimes it Snows in April.

Just got home from the after party. Was thinking about him doing I Can Never Take the Place of Your Man - LOL tour style at the second show. I really like that version. It was funny because he ended the second show with Free Urself. Just like at PP people kept going thinking he would come back out. But he didn't. He was done. Now that I've heard the melding of Little Red Corvette/Dirty Mind I can say I like it. He included a piece of the Peanuts theme too. Hopefully someone will post up the complete setlist. This show is amazing.

This show was just spectacular. Im still a little in shock to be honest.
The set list was perfect - hits for everybody but album cuts and then deeper cuts too. I have GOT to hand it to him
This was just stellar and the crowd seemed thrilled.

Yes, people were NoT in their seats until about 5 songs in which was very annoying bc they had them piled in the back and they were making tons of noise. Then they had to get into their seats - so if u go in another city and go to both shows - don't dilly dally - get on line ASAP or you will miss greatness. Like opening with JOY in REPETITION

The highlight was the The Beautiful Ones.....people were possessed by it.

case of u, I love you but I don't trust, and LRC/Dirty Mind were also just perfect

Really, it was just a perfect night.

I sincerely hope he sees how much people love him

Take Me With You
Raspberry Beret

I'm intrigued by Prince playing these two songs in that order for so many years now. I believe he started that combo in the orginal "One Night Alone" tour and has played them that way ever since. Full band, solo piano - doesn't seem to matter.

Other than the ability to end Take Me With U on an A chord, and Raspberry Beret starts with an A chord, I don't know why he'd decided these two songs go together all the time.

As long as he is including them in his stellar setlist. Why does it even matter in what order their in?

For anyone who happened to be at both shows, what kind of time (duration) difference is there between the two?

I've read only about 10 minutes, which doesn't seem bad.

Just want to know in hopes that he comes here to Detroit, and it would help to decide early show vs. later show.

No, he's been playing them together since the 1997/98 Jam of the Year tour. Maybe, in his mind, they have become one son g!Anyway, it's nice to see some unusual stuff pop up here. Not just hits, few if any covers... But I'm wondering... How long until he starts missing the interaction with other musicians and have a band again? But for now this solo tour is doing him good. Gone are the boring greatest hits shows!

I never said it mattered. I said I was intrigued at how he's grouped them together for so long (even longer than I thought). As a musician - who's all-time favorite song is "Take Me With U" - it's interesting to me.

He played the Peanuts theme in Melbourne too - Linus & Lucy Theme by Vince Guaraldi. I'm guessing that as music that came on the air when he was 10 it has special meaning for him. But who knows?

Oh and I forgot to note..

HIS VOICE..

he really sounded awesome .. SO CLEAR ..

this setting was just so impressive...

i have to admit. i had kind of fallen out of love with P for a while... too much religion / lackluster new stuff / being a little over 3EG.. .

BUT WOW... WHAT A REMINDER of why he is such a special part of my life.

He was a respected jazz musician. His Peanuts material is clever and cool. Dave Brubeck and Marsalis have also covered it.
