OMG!! My son was pulled onto the stage for "Kiss" where Prince changed the lyrics to 'I think he gotta dance now'. If anyone has footage or photos of his time in the spotlight I would be forever grateful xx It was his dream to meet Prince - and it happened!!! He has Autism, so it was so much more than the actual moment itself for me - it was a self-image and confidence- lifting experience. I will be forever grateful. Feeling so blessed tonight that so many people acknkowledged Anzac for what he can do - and that's dance!!!!!

Question for the anyone that attended either one of the shows tonight.. My 2 $397 tickets had us seated in row B!!! Did anyone else fall into this lucky category? We were surrounded by VIP ticket holders. Not sure how we scored those seats! Eatons Hill After Show = THE highlight from the Welcome 2 Australia Tour

Quietly content with the memory of the previous nights' Opera House 2nd show performance, I went into the 6:30pm State Theatre show with a sense of satisfacton that whatever he played, whatever happened, I was already happy.
That was a good attitude to take in with me as it happens. This show was definitely carrying the weight of a crowd of tag-alongs and bandwagon attendees (from what I saw anyway from the upper Dress Circle seating). I was fortunate enough to be sitting in between enthusiasic appreciators at the Opera House, whereas here at the State Theatre, I was caught up in a section of silent, motionless seat fillers for the most part.
Prince as expected, won them over as the show progressed and by the end I could hear their "wow" and "I didn't think he was that good" etc etc. Quite chuckles to myself. I also stopped short the young lass who was telling me about how their would be no photography during the show...."Yeah, it's not my first Prince show...I'm aware of the drill" I cheekily replied.
Of all the openers I was thinking were possible, hearing the phrase "Dearly Beloved" via the morphed mic effect he starts with wasn't among the options. "Lets Go Crazy" re-re-loaded for piano was most unexpcted, yet again...he made it work, complete with mock beat from the foot stomping we were encourged to provide. The openig of show was quite hits laden for the casuals in the house and he played far more familiar tunes for the masses than the previous night as you can see via the set list postings.
He sported that beanie head gear sack he has taken to on recent years that unfortunately gives hin that whole "E.T" elongated head look that just isn't Prince to me. He also had chosen not to wear the typical 'spotlight pyjamas' outfit he's associated with this tour.
Appearance aside, he was Prince all the way...interacting with the crowd, joking, open and even invited 2 guests up at different points. An attractive red head during "Raspberry Beret" who caught his eye in the stalls and then a young boy who tore up the stage with his unique dancing during "Kiss". What a story that young fella has to share for the rest of his life...even being rewarded with a high five from Prince...Good on ya little mate!
Stage wise, this venue had the backlit screen with the patterns revolving as the backdrop, unlike the Opera House where this was only possible on the stage floor itself due to the opening up of the 360 degree seating. Seems the days of stage sets are behind us, with this being reflective of the more simple stage style he has taken to in recent years. That's fine...the music is the focus.
And music we got...his vocals were loud and clear via the system, and his piano resonated through the theatre as well as a full band would have. I feel his fingers weren't as sharp during this performance however, with some flutters just not quite as perfect as he is known to produce. Most folks wouldn't have even picked up on it...and it wasn't that obvious, just something I remember.
Apologising for a late start, Prince suggested he'd "make it up" to us on the back end. He did...with several encores concluding with an intense and varied vocal styling of "Purple Rain" that even had the phone police ushers staring in awe as the played the final chord and triumphantly took his exit to cheers and applause the likes of which the State Theatre is unlikely accustomed to.
Exiting the ornate building, "Phase 2" CD in hand...I walked away with a smile on my face, content, happy....all over again.

What was the format for picking up tickets.. Did you pick up your bracelet outside the venue with photo ID, then when you entered the venue did the just check your bracelet? Or did they cross reference that with ID when entering too? Did they make you put your bracelet on in front of them when you picked it up?

At the Opera House on the 20th, you went along before the concert (I believe it was open for a couple of days, but initially the instructions were from 12 noon on the day of the concert.) You had to go in person with the credit card you used to buy the tickets plus photo ID (drivers licence) matching the name on the credit card. A person checked these then put a bracelet on your arm at that point. There is a clip on it which you can't remove (I eventually managed with really big scissors and a fair bit of effort. I could've snipped the band itself off as it is fabric but I didn't want to damage it for posterity.) They also hand you a paper ticket. Each person will have a bracelet and a ticket.
At concert time, you had to come with the bracelet still intact and the paper ticket. They checked you were wearing the bracelet and had your ticket, but didn't check your ID at that point.

No one checked my credit card, only ID. And no one wanted to see my ticket or ID when I went into the opera house.
