Thanks for the update ! I wasn't able to make it but I've seen GCS perform several times and it's always a great show. Was there a long line or wait to get in?

In the big room, normal stage. Prince's stage from Thursday with his piano (with candles lit) was also still set up and people seemed to be hoping that would mean he might play. However, after Larry, there was just DJ'd music while people finished getting tours that didn't get their tour between Pho and Larry.

Shelby doing "I'll Take You There" was probably one of the more energetically performed songs during Larry's set.

The possible good news is that during the tour of Paisley Park, we weren't allowed anything but a peak into one of the studios because someone (older white guy) was working on mixing one of the Thursday shows. Who knows whether those recordings will end up anywhere that is accessible to the public. But at least there was someone working on a recording of one of the shows.

People were probably there hoping for another night of Prince, and not there specifically for Larry Graham and GCS. As a result they were diappointed when Prince didnt even make an appearance.

But for me, I went there on Friday with the idea of seeing GCS and Larry Graham. With reasonable expectations, I had a good time. And having Shelby come out and do an amazing version of "I'll Take You There" was icing on the cake.

It's like this coming weekend. If I flew out there to see The Time and Judith Hill, I would be happy to see them. I am sure there are people who are hoping or expecting Prince to play with one or both of them. And if Prince doesn't they'll be whining and complaining.

Some people who live in the Minneapolis area seem to have become jaded about PP and Prince. Seriously... How many artists have a venue, and let you into their world to this degree? Not many. The fact that Prince has this set up is really a pretty cool thing. It isn't Prince's job to make any one of us happy.

The line was annoying, and not letting people park in Paisley was kinda annoying, espicially when you see them letting a bunch of other's in. Once you got inside all the line bs melted away and you felt that energy again. Hilarious Larry brought his old stash of GCS 8 Tracks & 7"'s to buy an he'd sign. I loved the Beanie i bought that he had for merch, said GCS on front & Live at Paisley Park on the back.

Pho for some reason i couldn't stand watching , but i dug there sounds (if that make's any sense). Also was cool to hang out w/ friends in the L4OA room having some mac 'n' cheese listening to some old r&b. The tour was cool too. Funny some people whined about how it was 40 bux and after you told them what u saw, they said that's it?!?! But anyone who did go on the tour w/ Jester had no complaint's afterward's. Oddly hearing the snippet of set 2 that was getting mixed down didn't sound like the show even though it was. Soundboard's can have that to cleaned up sound that felt like it lost some of the soul.

Larry & GCS blew the funkin roof off! After seeing Bootsy , Wooten, Stanely Clarke, etc. I been seeing some legend's that are playing like there at there prime later in life. Larry was dancing, jumping around, like he was catching the holy ghost!! Even at 1 point Larry gave the guy next to me his bass to hold while he danced around the stage madly (for 70 he can move nevermind attack that bass).

Shelby J was a great addition and surpise. Is she touring in GCS or was it just b/c of it being a Paisley show (if anyone know's)? Also seeing Corey Parker drumming was a perfect fit. I saw him drumming for his (dad or uncle, i forget) Maceo. He was more hard hitting in GCS.

Shelby most def helped round out GCS. The blistering version of "I'll Take You There" alone was worth the 50 bone's to get in. She came off the stage an danced her way through the crowd from right to left singing and throwing the mic in our faces. This guy I met from N Yorkshire (England) i'll never forget seeing his face beaming ,singing along in front of Shelby. All of us up front were having the time's of our live's. I'm not 100% if Larry did a full cover of Paisley Park, but he had everyone Chant Paisley Park and i swear i heard the bassline to it being played while the song/chant's were unfolding. The Sly cover's are alway's amazing but i love when Larry was like were going to take it back to woodstock and the guitarist play's the Twilight Zone theme as Shelby , Biscuit , Larry were moving like they were falling down a black hole while light's got dark and a trippy light show happened for a couple min's before going back into a couple more Sly stone cover's to end a blistering 1hr 1/2 set. They ended it by walking off stage hitting tambourine's still singing "I wanna Take You Higher" while going into the L4OA room up the stairs.

Odd thing, being up front there i noticed a big pedal board not plugged into by anyone from Larry's camp and along the top were maybe 6-8 guitar pic's sticking up w/ TAFNAP logo on them?

Strange like the candle's lit around P's piano. Dudely D was spinning some great demos/alt take's,rmx's (like that version of Lady Cab Driver I never heard as a example), and of course lp version's.

It went from a dance party to a strong feeling P was about to come out an play. More & More people crowded around the Piano stage. From the like's of Jon Beam - Funkenberry - people who had prince.org shirt's, Corey Parker walking in an out looking at the stage like Shelby J was, Pho, Kirk , etc. Than you hear around 1:30am a announcement say the last shuttle was about to leave for those who need to catch it do so. Nobody in the main stage room moved. All while this is going on security was getting tight. They were walking around, tuning into ear piece's, kept walking around the exit that GCS walked out of that went into L4OA room. It felt like something was about to go down. This went on for what felt like 30-45m. Than right before the light''s went on i could feel a shift in the room. That build up all of a sudden felt like a bone breaking than the light's went on and they said goodnight.

Was a very good night, seeing P come out like it felt he was going to would have been AMAZING. Even just for a few song's or 30m but I wasen't mad he didn't. Was wishful thinking & a little bummed but it's not like he said he was going to play and didn't. Plus the night before it was all about P. The 2nd night was 1 good band, 1 AMAZING GCS Set (w/ the addition of Shelby raised it up a notch), Paisley tour, Dudely Dj'in great tunes, good food, great people, and you were able to hang out late unlike the night before. I thought it was epic. Anyone who feel's different must not have a soul. Prince didn't play but he wasen't supposed to, and everyone know's he's unpredictable so i went in there to hang and see Larry. I had a way better time than i thought i would, and glad me and my boo could experience it together.

Kinda perplexed why P did a 3rd day. Only way he coulda up'd the 1st 2 night's was to actually play. I still don't get him dj'ing and people standing looking at him like a caged zoo animal not dancing. I know he Prince but c'mon, he still a human like all of us. Also if he dj'ing a dj expect's you to dance to what he's spinning or it's kind of a slap to the face.

ANYWAYS I Think i went on enough. So for those of you who wanted to know about Day 2 & Larry's set hope this helped.

peace
