If he plays all 3 nights I'll go no matter what the doppler says but for a one off charity event where he might only play for an hour no thanks. [Edited 1/6/16 17:59pm] |

With this much advertising and publicity they should really sell tickets in advance. I am ready to go, but will all the publicity, this can't be one of those show up at the parking lot of Paisley Park in the dead of winter and wait outside for several hours wondering how and under what circumstances they are going to let people in.

I've been going to shows at Paisley since 1995. I've been to dozens of performances and dance parties etc. and I have never ever heard of tickets being sold in advance. Always at the door. Usually there is a price and door time announced at some point. Sometimes for big shows there have been shuttles etc. But you never know..... can be different every time. Most often it's at the door, yes, but they've done advance sales as well. All of the celebrations sold tickets and there have been a handful of other times over the last 10ish years too. |

I think I started going to Paisley events about the same time...been to countless as well (we would probably recognize each other!). I don't recall ever seeing actual tickets sold in advance. In fact, I was at the Rave 2000 party/concert...we all stood in a long ars line for hours and it was friggin cold out! My money is on him announcing how much it will be by this weekend, and it will be cash at the door. If they really think there will be a lot of people, they may arrange for remote parking and a shuttle bus from the local athletic/health club.
Tough call if you are flying in from out of town. I always caution people that nothing is ever guaranteed...but it sure does seem like this is going down. It might be $100/person (sure hope not as that will discourage a lot of us), and maybe it will be like the 90's and early '00s when it was $7. I do find it strange that it's happening on a Thursday night...additional events on Friday/Saturday would not seem out of question in my opinion. |

I've never purchased a physical ticket, like through ticketmaster, but they *have* done advance sales. The Celebrations, the Musicology after shows in 2004, there was a one-off show around 2010 (I don't remember the exact year, maybe 2008 or 2009?) that did advance sales and for all of those they had a list and you showed your ID at the door (and for some you got lanyards - I still have all of mine). I remember the last one vividly as I was personally messaging w/a Paisley Park employee to get the word out on the org for a limited # of advance sales since I was moderating at the time and after all my help for them they opened ticket sales in the middle of the night and sold out before I woke up for work the next morning. I was pissed! But they did end up opening up more advance sales to be nice to me after helping them out. So I definitely remember that one. |

#The No. 1 thing that was positively affected by all that winter cold.........
Somewhere I heard or read that Prince would spend hours working on his instruments and music when it'd be too cold to do anything outside.
So grateful for the music that he developed and came out with from those all those frozen winters. 2Gether 4Ever |

October of 2009. Still one of the most amazing Prince shows I've ever seen.

Didn't he play for like...three hours or something? My knees, hips and back were just trashed the next day from standing on that concrete floor - but it was totally worth it.
I wrote down the setlist that night. I should try to find that notebok - I know I have it at home somewhere.
And wasn't that the one where he did a winter coat drive? I donated a really nice full-length down coat (basically a sleeping bag with sleeves). Somebody will probably be wearing that coat when it's below zero in Minneapolis this weekend.

okay so I've never been paisley and don't know how exactly it works. but I'm out school until February so this is perfect timing. do you buy tickets once you get there? and if so how is there a way to garuntee a ticket, because I'd hate to buy a plane ticket (from MS) and get there and not be able to get a ticket. anyone know?
Recent shows it is first come first serve. You must wait in your car OUTSIDE paisley park, then somebody comes and indicates you can park in the parking lot. Then you must wait in your car with the headlights and indoor car lights OFF (she is very vocal about this). Eventually you can stand in line. So as I said, first come first serve, and any of the recent events I've been to, nobody was turned away, it didn't approach capacity at all. That may not be the case for this show with so much advanced notice.

This event will not have advanced ticket sales. Also bear in mind an event with so much advanced notice will take place in the soundstage, not the smaller L41A room. If it's like the P&AM warm-up show from November, also expect there won't be dancing or standing allowed. It will be a sit-down affair. That's the atmosphere he wanted. You had to find a seat or leave to the soundstage where it was on the big screen.
It will be talked about though, so be there. |

Back in 1995 or so, he annouced a show at Paisley and tickets were $50 and sold at his NPG store
in Uptown.
But other than the Celebrations 15 years ago, and perhaps, the Musicology after show performances, I don't recall ever buying advance tickets for a show out there.
Would be nice though. Props to everyone spending $$$ on airfare and hotel without any concrete info on tickets. I live 35 minutes from Paisley, and I'm not even certain I will go unitl I learn more about ticket cost and show length. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in. |

You are right!! I forgot about the celebrations! That was great to know you were going to get in and see Prince perform seven nights in a row!! And the passes were transferable. I attended all 7 nights but my second pass I passed around and went with seven different people! |

YES! I was at that one too. It was invite only and then at some point word got out that they would let a limited number of fans in at the door. Waited outside in the cold for four or five hours but I got in (and that was $100) It was worth it for Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Jonny Lang, Larry Graham, George Clinton etc. And I am on the DVD for about two seconds in the crowd..AND THERE WAS A PHYSICAL TICKET WHICH WAS METAL!! I had it framed and here is a photo

That was the first time I had ever been to a Prince show where he actually started playing at the advertised start time. 10:00pm if I remember correctly. That was also the last time I think Larry Graham played at Paisley Park for an audience. Everyday People/I Want To Take You Higher medley. TRUE BLUE |

Limited tickets were also sold for the Beautiful Experience show on February 12th, 1994. They ripped the tickets in half, but my friend gave me his half.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews. |
