I don't believe that for a second. Even if it was Prince's plan (which I highly doubt), he would hardly give that information to a journalist! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Ticketmaster are essentially commiting fraud and are fucking over fans and Prince alike. That's not a good enough reason to postpone tickets sales whilst some other, more trustworthy method or company is sought out? FFS - it's all about ME (i.e. YOU) and how everything affects just you. Try and think of the bigger picture. Someone as cynical and downbeat as you are about Prince will not for one minute think he is protecting the interests of his fans, but he is one of few with the balls to highlight the criminal (and I'm not using that word in a legal sense, because there is no law to stop them) malpractice they are commiting. I'll gladly take the delay over boosting the profits of a bunch of manipulating, self-serving cunts like Ticketmaster. You clearly have no problem with that and would rather bitch about how Prince has inconvenienced you - nice one! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Wow that is such an angry message (and what the org is famous for) okay lets see how much of a stand he takes and how long it lasts. He used ticket master last year and did not care then, i doubt he will care this time next week.
are you still holding out for prince to change the world ? hold your breath, please lol

Ticketmaster being crooks and the system being crooked is not news, maybe for prince but not his fans or fams for that matter. Yes i am anoyed at the situation. I think that is my right, as it is your right to rant like a loon because of my opinion.

There are calls in this thread for the govt to make them illegal, what in a free market capitalist economy? The govt can't even get Starbucks to pay their taxes, which they (and probably we) wave a lot more to gain from. Incidentally, I picked up a 12" copy of gotta stop messing about in 1982 in a bargain bin, I never listen to it these days, can I only sell it for 20p otherwise I am ripping off the real fans? The idea of photo tickets is great, glastonbury does it, but in order to do that there needs to be a returns policy. The promoters are normally not keen on that, mainly as they would loose out, how many times have you bought tickets to a gig and then couldn't go? If I couldn't give / sell the tickets to a friend then I would want my money back, or else I would lose out. The venues would need more staff, and more infrastructure would be needed for each ticket site to store your personal details (they could recoup this by selling your details on! ) the ticket booking fee would also be more expensive if a colour photo needed to be printed individually. What I totally disagree with is the resale sites being owned by the ticket sellers, especially if some are being funnelled off. Also ebay's stub hub - have you seen the charges? I tried to use it last year to sell some tickets at face value and needed to charge nearly 30% more (see point about returns above). My final point, honest, artist setting up their own ticket selling sites? Really? Do you know the amount of software development needed for this,me specially for seated venues? Every artist's team knowing the layouts and legal t&cs for every venue they ever play. It would be Ike suggesting prince employs a full time lighting crew and and buys all the lights instead of renting them for the 6 shows he is doing (possibly) in the UK this year. Of course artists should use ticket sites, they just need to ensure they are ethical. Ethical ticket selling sites, photo I'd / tickets, refund policy. No touts. I agree with a lot of what you say, but what Ticketmaster are doing is not "free market capitalism" - it is a form of insider trading and fraud. If they were doing this in the stock - market, they would be prosecuted. The law needs to change to stop this highly unethical practice they are engaging in. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Prince highlighting the issues is a good first step - whether it will change anything depends on a lot more people becoming engaged. How angry about it you are depends on how much it affects you. How do you earn your living? I'm a music - producer and musician and that is how I make mine. And I can tell you that musicians are being fucked over left, right and centre - from unscrupulous labels, to dodgy promoters, to thieving middle - men ticket agencies to "fans" who no longer feel the need to pay for an artists work. So, excuse me, but I every right to be passionate about the subject and react to the general self-centerdness and dismissive nature of views akin to yours. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

I wonder how long it would take him to set up a quick website. Foo Fighters did this with their last tour. Tickets were to be purchased at box offices but only fans (fan club members)were allowed to purchase them. And only those fans that got tickets were allowed to enter the concerts with proper identification. Shit I was about to book a trip to London too. | |

Is it really self centered to expect an update ? So i can arrange my life around a show i would of very much liked to see ?
is it self centered to expect some information about something i am willing to part a pretty hefty fee to go and support an artist ?
is it self centered to want to give money to your favourite artist in exchange for an entertaining performance ?
oe do i need to consider every facet of life just to expereince a night of music ?

It's unbelievable that this is allowed. They sell tickets to loads of events and their business model should work just fine. Each and every ticket they sell gets them a few quid and they get rich off of volume but no, they want to make hundreds or thousands on on selling each ticket they've been trusted with. Utterly objectionable cunts. And despite the fact that this rules me out of going and I'm gutted as I was going to come over from New Zealand if I had a guaranteed ticket, I totally support Prince in doing this and I wish all Artists take the same stance. Whilst that isn't a bad suggestion, why should musicians have to keep doing extra work to avoid being screwed by dodgy corporations? Do you have to do that in your line of work? It used to be that you could just be a musician and devote your time to making music and getting better at what you do. Now, you have to be a businessman, a marketing expert, a website builder, your own label, oversee manufacturing and distribution, accountant to ensure you are being paid correctly and try and make any sense of the daft figures streaming sites send you (if they send you any at all!), investigator.....it is simply ludicrous. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Yes, yes, no and to a degree. It only happened 12 hours ago! Prince reacted moments after Ticketmaster started offering fraudulent and, at that point, non-existant tickets! Pretty soon after, he DID explain the reasons on Twitter, or are you just ignoring the fact that he has said that Ticketmaster were immediately touting the tickets at outrageous prices. Venues have confirmed that as far as they are concerned, the dates are still on. You might just have to wait a day or two - is that really so hard? ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Spoke to a friend today who already contacted the Amsterdam venue -Carré- for some details and ticket advantage (he works with dutch artists that perform there often), but apperantly there wasn't anything to confirm yet and almost all dutch celebrities have their eyes set on tickets so that will already fill half the place if not all...If it will take place then getting your hands on tickets will be as tough as it will for example an aftershow in Paradiso... no it's not that hard neither is prince releasing a statement that is coherent.
not picture of vultures. that is not a statement.
prince has not said anything. a few weird strange crappy posts on twitter might titilate you but that is not information, that is not a statement
also
it is not that hard to approach a forum with some decorum and less anger. We are all here because we have or at some point thought the purple sun shines from princes voice.
tbh honest after seeing the show last year, i really dont think the pay of is worth it.
of course i was up for this, willing to part with a decent amount of cash (if tickets available from the venue) but your saying now, that is not enough, instead i have to wait for the prince tantrum to subside before sitting beside the laptop again.
relationships are a two way street, and what i expect (in your eyes selfishly) is when i am willing to pay £175 for a conert that there is already very little info as to what it actually is, (piano, piano and band)
is at least a time and date so i can have a shout at a ticket from the ticketing venue. i would selfishly stretch to a written apology, not to me personally just a 'hey sorry about this guys, we will sort it out and get back to you.'
if you think that is selfish i suspect you strugle in relationships.

just because someone is selling them at that price, does not mean they would of been sold.
I am questioning how many people would pay £275 for a prince ticket, let alone 2000
When i was booking last years gigs through ticketmaster, other sites were advertising them at £350.00 for the same tickets. In fact we got an extra ticket two days before the concert of someone on gumtree, for face value.
If prince never knew how tickets are sold, that touting exists before this gig then he has had his wee perfectly formed head in a purple bag for the last thirty years. (do we really think he googled his name before they went on sale and realised with shock horror that touts exist, demanded tickets be stoped)
as many people have pointed out there are ways to sell tickets to fans, if that was his concern he could of gone down that route.
personally I think he has something else going on and is using this as a good cover story. I have also made positive or cheap experiences with scalpers. And I do think he only uses the scalpers for an excuse.
on a plus side, got some Andy Allo tickets for glasgow on the 30th

Fortunately for me, your suspicions about my relationship abilities (happily married with children) are as wrong as the rest of your assertions. If Prince's statements about ticket agencies being scavengers and touts is not strong enough, then perhaps only being hit over the head repeatedly with it printed on the hammer would be enough for you? If then linking to a report from a sell - known and respected consumer magazine about agency's dodgy practices is stl not enough, then maybe there really is little hope for you. Then there are immediate reports in publications like The Guardian - they didn't seem to have any problem grasping Prince's concept. No, it seems you need everything spelled out, personalised, delivered to your armchair and served on a platter. If it's too much aggro for you and "not worth the pay off", why even bother? Give someone who really wants to go a chance, particularly as you are learning to loath what you once loved! Seriously, put yourself out of your misery. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...
