I'm so excited. I really hope it's just Prince and Piano. It would be the most amazing show.

YES, it will be amazing, and so much more. I was trying to think of a word to describe Prince on piano this past weekend and the word 'amazing' came to mind. But it was so much more than amazing, I never did find the words to describe it. European's YOU are in for a really BIG treat!!! yes

Hmmm thinking about him telling Mononeon to get his passport ready makes me think we may do some Hit & Run's too?

Two seconds of research would have told you Later has just finished its series.

I'm presuming smallish venues and massive ticket price!

For current confirmed dates, approximate capacity appears to be:

Konzerthaus (Großer Saal), Vienna, Austria - 1,800

this proabably still needs confirmation, this site still says it's either Konzerthaus or Burgtheater

I'm sacared waht the ticket prices will be ...

Also Burgtheater has a play scheduled for the evening. Maybe a concert could take place after the play @ Burgtheater, or after the scheduled concert @ Konzerthaus? So Prince could maybe start around 22.30 h...

Call me a cynic (and not that I'm not pleased about this new format) but could this be to recoup revenue after the disasterous sales figures and endeavours recently. Tidal and recent album sales have all fallen flat and it must cost an huge amount to keep Paisley going with all the session players and support staff he has on the payroll. This tour will cost a tiny fraction of some of the bigger ones with a full band, flash stage and lighting rig, sound engineers and instrument techs etc. I'm sure ticket prices will be through the roof so this could be massive in terms of revenue.

I think if it was a cash thing he could have just done some Hits shows and filled arenas around the world quite easily and made £1m+ per show, something he will always be able to do.

Tidal paid him upfront for the Album so he got paid for that regardless of it selling or not i think biggrin

From what I understand, he has minimal staff at Paisley these days too.

Yes - until there are announcements re actual ticket sales at specified venues on firm dates, all of this has to be indicative. But first date anouncements should be relatively soon, given the planned start date.

One can only hope he's going to get a top notch Bösendorfer to play on.

More likely he's going to play on a digital keyboard
locked on the "Piano and Strings Pad" preset.

Please please please go for the acoustic...

I see it was reported that he wants to do a different set list each night. Thank goodness for that if it's true, and no reason why it wouldn't be...no band to rehearse, so he can do what he wants! He may even take requests!!

Europe gets all the cool shows. I hope he brings this to the US. The US has been getting the standard hit and run style shows for way too long.

Maybe right about filling arenas with a get rich quick hit show, but judging by the Judith Hill, Back in time mini documentary, he has a shit load of session playes on hand at all times plus all of the engineers etc. The building alone will need a number of staff on hand permanently as its so large and with so many resources to keep up to speed.

Stuff like this makes prince.org harder and harder to come back to. The rumors of financial ruin have been pervasive for 25 years and it's so <yawn>. Every indicator shows he's flush with cash, other than the ones you make up.

I agree. My sister ran Rush for Russell Simmons years ago and those rumors dogged him as well. She put it succinctly when she stated they are wealthy and their vapors if you may are much different then ours. Prince owns IP. He straight

I guess I should be excited.

But it's been 11 years since Prince has played Houston, Texas. In that time, he's performed 92 shows in Europe/Canada/Australia.

Oh well, I will not feel guilty if I have to get a bootleg or two of this show. It's what I've had to do for more than a decade.

I think you misunderstand my comments. For a guy with the artistic vision and freedom that Prince evidently wants, he needs solid revenue streams or he won't be able to sustain the cost of all his toys (multiple studios, rehearsal spaces, session players, facilities team etc etc etc). Its basic economics. I don't think I said anything about financial ruin as far as I can rememeber. What he is doing is a good way of making revenue pretty quickley while minimising costs. Its just efficient and his audience get something they haven't seen from him before. So I'm yawning at your comments as I type this over your overlly precious attitude towards a pretty innocuous statement!!!
