DAG. Sorry I missed this. Back in the '90s, I was on the guest list for every show in D.C. (and Baltimore). I was even at The Capitol Ballroom aftershow.

First show was solid but it was nothing compared to the second show. I have seen the man many many times. This ranks up there with the very best and I am not one for hyperbole.

Anyone know why he would plug his guitar in the old fashioned way with a cord and not wirelessly?

I was at The second show also, thats a good set list.

He also played , C O O L,

and Dont stop till You get enough.

I reallly liked Purple Rain this show, it was great he played the white vox and it was screeming during the solo, Forever in my Life was a highlight, Shake was fun sogn, When Doves cry very original nice it was just prince on keyboard with the drum machine singing the song.

I like take me with you with the backgroud screen, looks like your driving down a road. Mountains is also awsome visually with the montain views.

Prince was really getting crowd going durind Stevie wounder.

Give Stevie Wonder all the applause for the effort of being on stage at 1:30 AM Sunday Night.

Here's what happened. I was up close, you could see Prince had to walk Stevie to the keyboard put his hand on the keys to help him kick off the set. Prince played guitar while Stevie was on keyboard to the right of stage. Prince was more excited than the fans. Stevie was great After he finished the songs, Prince screems in the mike, give it up for Stevie Wonder. But Stevie did not walk off stage he was sitting just next to the keyboard listening to the show. Prince Plays the finally Purple Rain. The show ends, Prince and the band leave the stage. the lights come up. People start leaving the Warner Theater. But Stevie Wonder was still sitting next to the keyboard on the stage just out of view. After about 5 minutes with all the lights on in theTheater and it half empty, Stevie Wonder friends/managers help him get up and he walks across the stage to the backstage area. He gets a big round of applause from all the people still in the theater. Nice Moment at the end of the show. Shows you it's not easy being Blind. It was a great surprise.

SLOW DOWN is just part of Little Red Corvette, not a separate song. I think it was part of the extended 12" version. He has played it as part of LRC in the last 10-15 years.

There wasn't a new song.

The 'Slow Down' section that people are referring to is Prince ad libbing over an extended coda using chords and arrangement from 'Little Red Corvette', which it followed in both performances. The 'slow down' chant was first used in Montreux in 2007 and this section has been developed over several years and tours.

I will listen back to see where 'U Know' featured - I suspect it would have been included very briefly as part of the sampler set.

EDIT: 'U Know' and 'The Screams Of Passion' now inserted as part of sampler set between Housequake and Pop Life (as Donny English reported in his contribution to begin with).

White House defends 'private' Prince, Stevie Wonder gig

Washington (AFP) - President Barack Obama's administration on Monday defended its decision to keep a "private" White House party featuring Stevie Wonder, Prince and hundreds of guests out of the public eye.

The event on Saturday -- revealed by political figure and guest Al Sharpton on Twitter -- was paid for by the president, White House Spokesman Josh Earnest said.

"The president and first lady did hold a private party here at the White House over the weekend," said Earnest.

"But given the private nature of the event, I don't have a lot details to discuss."

"The president and first lady are going to reserve the right to host private parties at the White House, and they did it on their own dime."

Sharpton described the party, which cost an undisclosed amount, as an "unbelievable experience," with "Prince and Stevie Wonder on keyboards together."

But the guest list, reported to include up to 500 people including many with political and economic clout, raised questions about whether or not the party should have been disclosed.

I have been a Prince fan since the early 80s and I have seen him around 25 times, on every US tour except ONO including last night's early show. These days I would rather see D"Angelo. His band completely blows away 3EG who is one of the weakest bands that Prince has ever has. They are not funky at all. I just do not get why he holds on to this gimmick. Plus, D'Angelo does not do those idiotic sampler sets! Don't get me wrong, Prince is the originator and D'Angelo is the student but Black Messiah is better than anything that Prince has put out in decades. Those two latest albums were such a disappointment. He really does seem washed up when it comes to making new music. And look at these setlists. Cool/Don't Stop Until You Get Enough? Once was ok but for years and years? His setlists have been stale for years.
