I saw that the show they did Saturday night was sold out with 8,000. This could be a crazy one, considering people will be thinking Prince might play too.

Apparently they are letting people in starting at 7:30 (so probably 8:30) and the show starts at 9 (probably 10:30). lol It's hard to say what time to show up. I'm thinking it's going to be in the soundstage, since the L4OA room only holds 250.

i went out there and the line of people waiting was doubled back, down the block and they had a sign saying' to event shuttle service', likely meaning you park a ways off and they bus you in to stand in line outside. looks like they'll fill the park up tonight!!!!!

I went to the show tonight. It hasn't been that packed since the show in Oct 2013. Hannah came out and welcomed them before they took the stage. They came on around 9:00 and played unitl around 10:30. Prince came out and played some guitar and took a solo. I don't know the name of the song, as I'm not familiar with Alabama Shakes music. 3RDEYEGIRL equipment was set up in the L4OA room, but it was a no go. I saw Judith Hill in the audience.

Alabama shakes was the bomb! I loved them.. the lead singer just takes u on a journey, I'm so glad I went!

A little bummed it was a no go in the other room afterwards they were even setting up the VOX "arrrghhhh" but thinking of it they could've not fitted 1200 peeps in the 200 capacity l4oa room so some peeps woulda been MAD wink

At one point I went to get a bottle of water during the show and saw that people were already standing in front of the stage in the L4OA room. They missed half the show. eek

  • Great Shakes! WOW. Alabama Shakes has a phenomenal sound. they totally lived up to all the reviews i had read. Go see them when you can. legendary potential. brittany howard was reminding me of prince, al green, and a lot of greats, kind of like prince reminds me of all the best. beautifulminds. awesome band. beautiful. seems like instead of wanting to be famous, they're just 'being good at what they love.' her stage presence matced the mature soul that shined through in one of her interviews i read. inspiring as funk. Prince was totally appropriate with the awesome guitar solo appearance. Just a glimpse of supplemental vitamin P was all that was needed to complete the show. would have liked to dance longer, but i can do that at home. favorite moment: prince running exiting the stage and blowing the cutest kiss to brittany. i think his clothes matched her guitar! it was kindof amusing to be in pp and hear so many southern rock songs played before the concert. also some classic prince and james songs played, etc. seemed like everyone was eating french fries, lol. they also had cobbler, etc. wow. well-organized line entering the park. cool to always meet people who live there yet this is their first time at paisley park. funny how so many are still surprised to hear of a no cell phone policy.

What an amazing show! I bet he wanted to do a follow up, but agree that logistically with the number of people and their equipment on the big stage, it wasn't possible sad

Thanks for the reports, everyone! I'm so bummed to have missed it. I almost drove in from Chicago, but I've decided that I need to stop indulging every whim, and start exercising some restraint. Did Brittany exercise restraint in the cursing department? Some of their songs have swears in them, and I'm curious if she left them out for Prince.

Alabama Shakes, yes the Band really was rocking and shaking us!! Brittany Howard's voice and range were phenominal, beautiful. Prince's guitar solo was perfect and so like being in heaven for 15 minutes cool No one wanted him to stop, but being the great host that he is, he stepped back and let them shine and shake.

Brittany spoke to the crowd and her words really touched me. She was telling Every One that they are Loved. She said it didn't matter if people had passed on or drifted away, that the Love that was shared can never be denied, it will always be alive. In that crowded room there were many couples and singles and I believe her message hit home for lots of us. She could have talked about anything, her band, upcoming shows etc., but she chose to remind everyone that they are Loved. It was praise worthy bow Thank You Prince for bringing so many musical giants to your house and sharing so much with us. Prince is the greatest talent scout around, to our benefit.

I was out of town when I heard about the show and thought it would be something I'd like to see. At first it was little things holding me back. Then on the freeway there had been a bad crash and traffic was told to find another route. More roadblocks had me running late, I was lost twice. But I kept going and made it there for about the last hour. I'm so glad that I didn't change my mind or turn around. Alabama Shakes, and that's the truth. Thank U for the invigorating music late last nite. biggrin
