I agree. Either you go on tour or you don't.

The shows in MPLS were to celebrate the end of the tour. . It clearly shows a complete lack of focus for anything farther away than tonight. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Even more c€l€bration then! So we can agree the `tour` is over? Perhaps P needs a stay-in at the Park, jujst like he did shows at that Rio place in Vegas. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Is it a Hit and Run Tour? If so, he's still in the Run zone at the moment. No problem.

He's been doing quite a lot of shows here in Minneapolis. 2-3 a month, anywhere between 1-3 sets each, with Judith Hill and her band playing as well, all at Paisley Park.... All of which have been fabulous. Come to Minneapolis over a weekend and scope out the Park. Good chance of seeing a show. Plus, Prince and 3EG are always wandering around during his parties, even if not playing. [Edited 5/12/15 4:28am]

. 'Hit and Run Tour' is an oxymoron and an euphemism for his lack of planning. A `tour` would assume some sort of planning. `Hit and Run` does away with planning. It's just his lack of focussing on tour related things that makes reality like this. He compromises his band with smallish rooms, asks fans to drop everything on the dime to be present there. It is plain evil.

Who wants to play show after show, city after city every night when you don't have to? He's done that. Now he can literally just throw a dart at a map while blindfolded and say "let's play here next week" because he doesn't need the fame or the money now. Also, no label forcing him to do a tour. How many other artists do you know that can do this and still blow minds in concert? Not many.

. Your perspective is the wrong way. His lack of focus, lack of planning abilities makes the fans suffer higher prices for smaller venues, shorter lead times (ask a day off, arrange travel, hotel etc), multiple shows per night to break even (not because he has too... yeah right), etc.

Your choice of the word "suffer" says it all - you're clearly the one with the skewed perspective.

. ? What held him back doing the same thing back in the day? . The way he does the 'tour' thing nowadays only works because his old stuff. If he were to play only recent stuff (e.g. less than five years old) it wouldn't work. This way of doing things matches his lack of focus, his expectation of fans dropping everything on the dime to run after him. I see short notice times, high ticket prices and still two 'normal' shows per night. Now we have the Toronto setlist to once again confirm the hits content.

I guess a tour costs more money. He is doing it for the built in hype, so he can guarantee a sell out. All you others say Hell Yea!!

How about 3 shows in 4 days? It's a start!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
yeah but phrasing it 'three shows in 4 nights' is intentially misleading. Two shows on the same night in the same city is not the same as two shows in different cities. It would be like saying his 21 Nite Stand in LA was a tour because it had 15 dates.

Is that all some of you Prince fans can do is constantly whine? Give it a break. Prince doesn't like doing traditional tours. Good for him. It's better than seeing artists going through the motions by playing gigs when they are tired and don't even know what city they are in. We all love Prince because he is different and does things his way but still fans have to complain when he does things his way.

So Prince doesn't go through the motions? I agree he can do whatever kind of tour he wants, but if somebody wants to complain, they can too. I'm glad a few people in this world don't have that corporate America "Everything is Perfect" mentality. I'm not a robot, and yes, I do have a job. If I find out about a concert 500 miles away with 3 days advance, I simply can't fu**ing go. And I would go, but Prince doesn't want my money.
And dude totally goes through the motions sometimes. He cuts corners with medleys, he holds the microphone to the audience to sing nearly 50% of Kiss, he does the "Prince Karaoke" where he plays a tape of songs, because he is too lazy to rehearse live versions of these songs. It's pathetic. Sadly, he's still capable of being far above any live performer out there, but at mulitple shows, he's simply not "Willing To Do The Work."
He doesn't want any money from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, or most other southern areas. I understand when some artists say they won't go to Florida because of the Trayvon Martin case. I truly understand and support the intent...but the very people those artists are trying to help, are ultimately hurt when the jobs at a concert are not there, and the tax revenue is not coming in to help the neighborhoods who need it most.

. If you consider he effects of the inconvenience versus the greatness that sometimes can be witnessed then it is evil if one misses a stupid 'tour' by Prince this way.
