that was FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! got there around 9 pm and there were only about ten cars in the parking lot. security had us wait in our cars until about 9:30 or so then let us all in to the Park. . our most excellent host and his crew had a menu of snacks and various beverages available out in the lobby. merchandise was available too; i wanted to buy up a copy of ms. hill's new album, but i'll make do with the download for now. thanks again for that piece of free delicious! . the party began in the love4oneanother room which was bathed in blue light, and instead of finding nemo we had a larger-than-life picture of young judith hill onscreen. . DJ (sorry i don't know your name, you rocked!) played prince songs, both his hits and some of his more obscure tunes, occasionally mixed with other artists' work while the room slowly filled up. the crowd was looking for some serious fun and they found it. people were dancing, talking and laughing. having a great time. . ms. hill and her crew ultimately took the stage in the love4oneanother room and funked us up for a groovy set, playing songs from the new album. that girl can SANG. she shines in person even more than on her album; truly a gifted soul. at one point i swear i felt like i was in church. now here's where this review is lacking; i didn't write the setlist down. too hard to take notes while dancing. . once ms. hill's set was over i thought that would be it, party over, show us the door and thanks for coming y'all. but nope. the ginormous soundstage doors swung open and we were permitted to enter the big room, where a fully dressed stage was hidden behind a sheer hanging curtain. . people danced around in there for a while, some gathered at the edge of the stage (see photo above) waiting and hoping, and then it became apparent something was up behind the screen. . prince and his crew were whipping up some magic back there and eventually presto@! the man himself, clad in white from head to toe with a black vest and sparkle shoes, got up behind the curtain and started to play. yes!! . he was joined by the NPG horns section and 3RDEYEGIRL bandmembers. were they funky?? yes. yes they WERE funky and please can i get an amen! i had thought we were all danced out but once prince and his crew took the stage, folks perked back up and began shaking it all over again. curtain came up and game was on! . please do not shoot me - again i didn't write down the set list. i know i heard a couple of songs that were new for me, which is always a rush and one of my favorite things about visiting paisley park. all i can really say with any accuracy is the set was a gorgeous blur of funk. . i think the combination of NPG horns and 3RDEYEGIRL is a real winner, and imo, the tour will be very well received if what we heard is any indication of the soundcandy they have planned for american ears. . prince was amazing, as always. joking with us and dancing around. is he hot? YES he is and why would you even ask such a thing? you didn't ask? okay my bad, the funk affected my head. he seemed to be having a lot of fun, which was once of those right-back-atcha things, cause i didn't see a single sad or frown face up in there. . all too soon, it was after 3 am, prince and the band said goodnight and left, lights came up and we left too. truly a great party, and i feel blessed to have been there. the security people were excellent, the event was well-organized and i have a feeling most of us will be buzzed for the next week on that juice. thank you prince and crew! you know we love you

N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |
