Ticket Pricing Quite a lot of consternation about the excessive platinum ticket prices, and the fact that those prices appeared to go up as fewer were available - kind of like airline seats. . I would note that I couldn't afford to pay $1,600 for a ticket, no matter how good, so it does seem kind of steep / a lot to ask of fans. . But I would also say that not many real fans (i.e. the kind of folks who come on Prince.org) will actually be paying that price. . Because we are all going to be sat there at 10.00am giving it F5 till we get our tickets at a reasonable price, because we love Prince. . And the people who are paying that price are likely to be very well-off, but almost certainly less-engaged folks who just want to come along for the ride. . Which is actully good for us fans, because some crazy rich person will pay that much, and help defray the costs of running the show, and keep the rest of the tickets at a lower price, allowing us all to see Prince in a smaller, more intimate venue. . Some person who's lucky enough to have a lot of money is subsidising the rest of us, who are smart and interested enough to actually be on time. . So, it does seem a bit galling, but in the round, I think it works out for everyone - we get to see Prince in smaller venues, rich person gets to pay a lot (which is fine for them and subsidises us), and Prince still gets to make money. . Anyways, that is my take - please flame away at your leisure. .

The solution is simple then, don't go. There are other concerts you can go to that at this stage of Prince's career are actually better than him. I thought his tickets were cheaper than I expected. He charged $250 per ticket overseas and $171 for the floor I thought was better than I expected. Aerosmith just came and they were over $200 for the same section and U2 is $302. In fact I just considered John Mellencamp but even his are $143 and all of them are in a lot bigger places than this. Honestly I think its a steal for a small venue. Oh and I have to say I am not rich. My income last year was less than 20K and I will pay it if I am lucky enough to get one. [Edited 3/10/15 8:27am] [Edited 3/10/15 8:30am]

That's like saying:"Can't afford bread? Then don't eat." Music shouldn't be for the rich only. Wasn't it Prince himself who wanted to keep his ticket prices low in the past "2 make it affordable 4 everybody 2 see us"? [Edited 3/10/15 12:09pm]

Well if you can't afford bread than you should not be thinking about going to see Prince. His ticket prices are in line with other artists. Actually they are really cheaper than artists that are bigger legends than him. Its just the way it is now. Get over it and go or don't. No need to bitch about it. Prince does not care and people bitching on here won't change anything. Unfortunately these days concert tickets are just higher and thats the way it is.

This is already being discussed in the sticky thread in this forum about the tour: ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
