I just got home from the 11pm show. This was my first ever Prince show and it was awesome! It kind of reminded me of the Nude tour in how he played just the hits, played about 90% of the way through with no "medley" stuff. But he merged all the songs together with no real breaks in between, also similar to what he did on the Lovesexy tour. Here is all the interesting stuff that happened:
Lets Go and Little Red Corvette were totally reworked versions. He did do one medley where he just played tons of samples of songs, and he started to play Darling Nicki and he says "uh oh!" and switched to something else! The show started at 11:15 and ended at 1:10 so almost 2 hours, probably a bit longer than the 8pm show. Some dude got up on stage and security tried to pull him down and Prince was like "no leave him alone" and he let the guy dance with him for several minutes then gave him a hug! There was a pretty lengthy drum solo. Prince spent a LOT of the show behind they keyboard and didn't play much guitar. The only song I don't think I saw mentioned yet was Lets Work. I think it was the 2nd encore. They also did Dont Stop Till You Get Enough at one point At one point he just let anyone who wanted to get on stage and there were like 30 people on there dancing for at least 15 minutes or longer. They really pushed "no cellphones", and Hannah even started the show by guving a speech about how we all need to turn off our phones and put then away because this magic can't be captured by technology. It was kinda wierd to have a band member say this to everyone (we were all told about 8 million times by staff members not to have phones out) After all that stuff about phones, Prince actually said "light this place up" and had all the lights turned off and wanted us to turn our cellphone flashlights on!! The merch booth was mainly just shirts of 3rdeyegirl with no Prince. There was a shirt that had his picture and said "prince and 3rdeyegirl" but it was already sold out by the time the 8pm show ended! There were a few posters, 2 allover print shirts with that photo of him with the guitar and his mouth open, a tote bag with a picture of him, and a shirt of the "this could be us but you playin" meme (which is what I got). All the other shirts were weird 3rdeyegirl designs. Prince was wearing, I kid you not, those LA Gear shoes from the late 80s that light up with red lights when you step down My only real complaint was there were no early 90s songs like Cream, Shhh, Gold, Diamonds and Pearls, etc. Basically anything after SOTT was ignored. Not a surprising setlist but looks like a plenty fun show

None of the setlists posted so far are correct. I can't even remember them all or the order but I think they did Pretzelbodylogic and they did a new song that was an instrumental. Oh and another thing, either some people didn't show up or the show really wasn't sold out because there were several empty seats in the balcony. Ticketmaster also emailed us all with download links for What If and X's Face

i really hoping for WoW and the Breakdown in Detroit. Why make new music and not play it. No More Haters on the Internet.

Yeah I am really bummed out by the setlist. I have no desire to see a 80s greatest hits show. I am glad I saw the setlist before purchasing tickets. I am passing on this tour. I was really excited too as I was hoping for more newer stuff being the small venues and pretty much die hard fans there. He always does just greatest hits shows in the USA. Really disappointing. Whats the point of pushing 3rdeyegirl so much when they won't play their own music

The show sounds like it mostly sucked a nut. I guess it's marginally better than the lame shows from around 20ten. But Prince's shit just pales compared to others right now, especially D'Angelo. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

My only disappointment was that the two sets were so similar. When the first show was comprised almost exclusively of songs from 79-87, I was hoping the second show would be the NPG era. I was thinking that the four sets would be like one big show, not the same show four times. There was enough differentiation between the 8pm and 11pm to keep it fun (especially after Nothing Compares 2U), but I'm not sure how it will hold up after two more shows tonight.

It must be genetic. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

No, it's quite simply that not everybody is as Prince-obsessed as we are. When I saw him live in 2010, it was the first time in 8 years and I was quite happy to hear the old hits again. But yes, you wouldn't want to see a greatest hits show every year.

I was at 11PM. It was a great show, but I too was hoping for a least a little post 80s (or at least a little deeper show than what he played). Honestly though, many of the people there probably have little knowledge of his music past 1992 or so. I was hoping the setlist would have been a bit more varied from Louisville show to Louisville show if only to say "we saw X and you didn't." I was happy it started on time (but that sucks for 8 PM concert goers, who got a very short set for their money).
Regarding security, before the final encore took out my phone and turned on my flashlight (since I didn't have a lighter). Security was on me in about 20 seconds and had me walk out with them. They asked me to show them my pictures. Let's just say that through some divine intervention by way of Steve Jobs, my phone said "No Photos or Videos". The guy let me go back to see Purple Rain.
Honeslty, I understand the cell phone policy, (and the photos I had were all taken when he asked us to pull them out), but the amount of people getting pulled was a bit ridiculous.

lol I can't imagine someone at this show with their arms crossed and a sourpuss saying "He's only playing the hits! I HATE this!" while everyone else around them is having fun I do feel bad for people at the 8pm show because they definitely got a shorter set. He went on at 8:15 and people were leaving that show around 9:40 Since my first show was in a tiny theater I'm going to be spoiled now, I can't imagine paying the same amount or more to sit in nosebleeds in a huge arena! I was first row in the balcony and even there it felt like you could reach over and touch him. I kept thinking when I was in there "wow, so everyone in here was doing the same as me last Monday? Frantically clicking refresh on the Live Nation page hoping to get tickets?" There were a lot of older people there who I wouldn't think would be tech-savy enough to get tickets like that, something still seems fishy to me about that

I just can't believe my eyes when I read some of yours posts here. This is directed to all of those people who keep saying they are disappointed by the fact that he played alot of his older hits with hardly any new music off his new cds. If you feel that way then just move on. I mean why even to take the time to post your not interested in not seeing this guy live on this tour?
Long live the funk. Count me in on this tour. Prince is back!

You people are right. I'm being too negative about this show, and I wasn't even there. It sounds like those who attended had a great time. That's ultimately more important, right? If Prince plays in DC, I'll skip the show because it doesn't sound like my thing. But there are countless others who will go and have a wonderful night. It's all good. Peace.
