We just left the Park. It was a dance party exactly as advertised. Someone let us know if Prince ended up performing.

I got there just shortly after midnight and was pleasantly surprised that the parking lot was already full and parked down by the day care place. As the previous poster said, it was a dance party exactly as advertised. We were in the small "L4OA" room...I guess now it's really the "NPGMC" room? The soundstage area was not opened up. I'm sure people will complain that they paid $30 and didn't get to see a performance...but I'm still just grateful that he holds these events. I, like many others, had hope that he would do a little something considering the cost was a bit higher than it's been lately ($20). But I always go in with zero expectations. I had a neat surprise in just meeting a second-great-twice removed/whatever cousin that was in town from Houston earlier in the day. Turns out she is a huge Prince fan, so I got to bring her along...was soooo hoping Prince would hit the DJ booth or something just so she could see him, much less have him perform. Oh well, was still happy to be able to bring a fan to the Park and she still enjoyed it.

I will say I was a bit disappointed by some of the behavior I witnessed from the securtiy. I have been going to the Park for 10-15 years now and have always been impressed with not only the professionalism, but also the politeness of the security staff there. However last night I witnessed one staffer be incredibly rude to the guests three seperate times. People were just dancing and having a good time and she had to cop major attitude three times. Once she was even yelling in the guest's face (who was dancing with a super cute `10 yr old girl. All because the staffer didn't like where they dropped their coats, etc to dance. I'm fine with them not allowing coats/purses whatever being too close to the stage...but in my past experience, the staff is so much more respectful in how they deal with it. In fact, I watched other staffers as people to move their stuff, etc...and it was with great respect and calmness. What I witnessed from the one staffer is not what we have come to expect at Paisley...and I sure hope is not the begining of a trend...hope she just had a bad day....

Anyway...good party...they kicked us out at 4am (no, Prince never performed)...it's always good to be at the Park! I heard several new versions of songs that I had not heard before which was the highlight of my night.

I know who your talking about, I actually saw the incidents you described. She's always like that. She's the parking lot monitor and cell phone security. She's one of those that probably get paid little to nothing and is on a power trip, because she "works" for Prince.

I am so glad that it was adveritsed as a dance party. I will say that I am tired of Purple Essence and their "teases". The whole PRINCEWATCH thing had some people's expectations up. I am glad my super sick and super tired self opted to stay at the hotel and sleep.

I don't think anything will top the night before's performance and atmosphere for me.

Glad you got to see the Friday concert. I flew in from Dallas with my wife and two kids hoping to catch the contest concert if it was open to the public. We were at the Chanhassen Inn when the Friday night concert happened, but we had no idea it was going on. The tweets were all about Saturday night, so we were shocked to see that there was in fact a concert on Friday. We did get to go to the Saturday night dance party and it was a lot of fun to show Paisley Park to my kids.

Oh wow!! Bummer...how unfortunate. I know you've made several trips in an attempt to catch Prince (concert)..although, you still seem to enjoy youself.

I'll be in NYC on SNL weekend. Wonder if I might luck into something then... Hmmmm?

Yeah. well..I don't engage in social media much/enough, so, I don't have a clue who all are 'in the know' other than Prince's official accounts. I guess there's a possibility others are...

As far as charging only $20 Friday night, maybe, people unexpectedly started showing up and it was a last minute (generous) decision rather than turning them away...anyhow, they were very lucky/fortunate. I feel for those who put forth an effort and missed out on Prince (Friday)...been there. I really do believe it was meant to be a private concert for the winner and maybe her guest(s).

If that is what happened, it makes me feel better. If I am able to come back to Chanhassen, I will follow Stymie's advice and check every night to see if anything is going on. I think the basic problem is that there are many more people who would love to travel to see Prince perform at Paisley Park than the venue can hold. So what we get are events announced at short notice, if at all, with incomplete information. That's just the price of getting the chance to see him perform in the inner purple sanctum. Maybe someday I will be in one of the lucky crowds.

I for once really hope someone in Prince's camp reads this as this woman is horrible.. I think her name is Tia (sp?) in anycase she is extremely rude, constantly flashes her light at everyone, I saw her kick someone out of their chair several times so she could take their seat and sit while at work, nevermind the fact they paid to be there, from what I hear she used to be a fan who basically now works for her idol and has no social skills whatsoever.

it's saddening that Prince let's people like that work for him...
