Eye love his " Karaoke" segments! Eye live 4 them!! He often plays the rarely heard instrumental tracks & plays his unmatched keyboard strokes with them. This show he brought out the bass with it. That is AMAZING!!!
You're not the only one. Lots of fans love the lazy Karaoke segment. Usually casual fans who could care less if it is live or memorex love it. Since I'm a songwriter, and an awful musician, I can at least figure out that it's not true live music, and when he complains about other artists not playing live, it makes him look silly. Me being a songwriter makes me no smarter than anyone else, but if you have any true knowledge of what a musician is, his lazy Karaoke thing is sad.
Would Miles Davis do this? Would James Brown? Would Elton John? Would Stevie Wonder? No. A serious musician would never do this. The fact that Prince is a serious musician faking his way through a portion of a live performance is about as mind-numbing and confuisng as allowing that hack Tony M in the band...but casual fans don't know and don't care
And you know what...that's fine. There are people that love Justin Beiber and think of him as something special. I'm not willing to go down that road.
Eye understand what your saying since Eye have musical abilities nyself. But plays the sampler set to satisfy his casual fans, who he knows want to hear ALL his classic hits. That his live band CANNOT play live to his satisfaction. Songs like "When Doves Cry" are hard to duplicate live. I always felt The Revolution's live version, didn't work to me. Especially Wendy's horrid guitar solo.
I don't understand why he gets so much criticism here 4 it. He is still singing through it, with his live unmatched vocal abilities. Let the casual fans have their moment in the show.
This is his way of giving his casual fans EVERYTHING! Which is what is important to him now. Not the hard to please fairweather fans like U! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

What you've just said is that Prince's band is inept and that he favours casual fans over his hardcore fanbase. And surely, his hardcore fanbase are anything but 'fairweather', we stick with him, even when he makes lackluster albums and does naff things like sampler sets.
Whichever way you spin it, the sampler sets are terrible. At least in comparison to what he could be doing instead. I've never left a concert and heard a casual fan say, 'Thank god for that sample set, the show would have been ruined without the ten second snippets of Nasty Girl and Mr Goodnight'.

I'm just going by the ones that visit here frequently. But eye have learned that, 's hardcore ,loyal fans don't come on here. Because it has become VERY negative toward him. They chose to bring positive vibes toward . Instead of the bitchy.negative insults hurled @ him daily on here. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! I really like the new songs, especially Revelation. It's so smooth! We've all heard the snippets of most of what was played last night, but if you like those then you'll love the full songs too. If I Could Get Your Attention was such a "huh" moment. I love Taja's music, so I instantly new what the song was. The music was totally different though. It sounded more like a Prince and Joshua song, rather than 3RDEYEGIRL. I tweeted Joshua asking if that was what I heard, I was questioning myself, because it was such a out of the blue song. He favorited my tweet, but didn't answer.
Thanks! Any more details on the songs played over PA? Like, what are the second parts of Revelatn and Ex's Face like, apart from the bits from the Yahoo special? Any more details on If I Could Get Your Attention, like is there any instrumentation, etc?
Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not able to give a detailed description of the new songs. I'm lucky to be able to remember the set list. If I Could Get Your Attention sounded similar to the material on AOA to me, not guitar driven. The lyrics were pretty much intact. It's really hard to describe the songs in detail from only hearing them once, and multiple songs makes it even harder. Hopefully they will see the light of day and soon! TRUE BLUE |

I agree it's so hard to remember, we went to the big room and my friends were chatting my ears off, I was like hello new song lemme concentrate on lyrics and as soon as I remembered one line, a new song came on LOL
Anywho Revelation goes on the whole song about someone that has been around forever and he suddenly has the revelation after all this time she's the one and she's here to stay.
Excess space I can't remeber the words ut it sounded sort of like someone takes too much space and needs to be discarded "the Excess Space" could B used 4 something else

I wish I had songs I could post. I'm an awful musician, and a worse singer. If I could find a great piano player, and a passable singer to work with, my songs could live one day. Until I find someone that doesn't want tons of money my songs will likely die with me. Thanks for asking ,
though. |

Can't agree with the negativity towards the sampler set. I've always found it great fun live, especially when he starts playing a bit of piano or bass over it. It's something so different from a regular live set, and the fun P appears to be having with it always seems reflected in the crowd. |
