I think Prince needs to stop playing these games.Alot of his fans are getting too old for these type of stunts. Why not just simply announce a tour in advance and sellout the venue without all the cryptic games and gimmicks? The "hit and run" thing was cool in the 80s,but now? Not so much.

Yep! Yet again. Ah well. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

totally inexcusable...i called out Donna on Twitter about & fair play that she didn't delete the tweet. It is piss poor & I bet the 3EG girls are pissed too. Seems like for every positive step he takes i.e. the SNL he chooses to smash the moment with dickish behaviour.

i don't think that it reflects that badly on prince that they cancelled the show. I'm willing to believe that there were legitimate reasons for it. When they don't play, they lose money on hotels and probably for booking the venue, etc. . I don't have much sympathy for the people who stuck aorund in line after security told them there would be no show. My guess is that the venue and the people in prince's camp did their best to let the fans know that nothing was happening as soon as they were sure that nothing was happening. If the show needed to be cancelled, I think they went about it in a fair way. . What's unfair is the fact that people ended up wasting their morning, because "hit n run" means "drop everything and spend the day trying to see a show". This is aggravating whether the show is cancelled or not. And for the band to act as if there never was a show in the first place is just confusing to me. Why are they trying to weasel out of this? Why not just say you wanted to play but something came up? Saying "nothing was confirmed" implies that if anyone is mad about the time they wasted, it's the fan's fault for "overreacting" to a "rumour". This completely ignores the fact that these silly hit n run shows are annouced in the form of exactly these kinds of "rumours", and that the "overreaction" is more or less normal behaviour from more or less rational fans who just want to make sure they get a ticket for the show they found out about that morning. . The problem isn't the fact that the show was cancelled, the problem is the hit n run style surprise show. [Edited 11/6/14 15:37pm]

What exactly is the point of hit-and-run shows anyway? Is it to keep tickets out of the hands of scalpers? If so, just sell paperless-only advance tickets to the shows. That way whomever owns the card used to purchase the tickets MUST enter the venue. "Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. They start shit, you finish it. Go down to their level, that's the only way they'll understand. You have to handle things yourself."

^ I think it has more to do with P's erratic behaviour than avoiding scalping or setting any business trend. He probably feels much more comfortable playing shows organized in days or even just hours, just because HE FEELS like playing, instead of commiting to a full scale tour months in advance. While I reckon the idea has its charm, he's over-using the 'hit n run' concept to the point it's no longer a surprising thingy (unless one happens to be in the city in question, that is).

Thanks, that does make sense. It just kinda rubs me the wrong way when people, especially the media, refer to those who wait 12 hours in line at the drop of a Tweet as the "real die-hard fans". Just because I have real life responsibilities (job, family, etc) that prevent me from jumping in line at a moment's notice and waiting in line all day, it doesn't make me any less a fan. I went down even with the annoucement... still held out hope that he'd play for the fans that kind of just stuck around.
Then I heard that he was still in NY - the stage was setup and all of that. Apparently somebody was hospitalized - somebody related to in-house security.
Oh well - maybe he's still annoyed by the ACC being half full for the opening night out the Welcome 2 Canada tour. :0

he's being a wiener if he's upset by the turnout to those ACC shows. Those tickets were really expensive.
