The host Maya did alright. She was charming and seemed nervous. Let's see some of the critics here host a LIVE event like that, with probably not much advance notice and having to improvise at times. btw- She didn't think the Diamonds and Pearls cover was related to 3rdeyegirl......she said something like do you recognize this?... tweet @3rdeyegirl, tweet me at...

.

So Prince has a solid, fun album on his hands. He should have done a different performance. He should have come out swinging! People said he might have been put off by the audience (what did he expect opening the event to the public on super SHORT notice?). Some of the people there looked lost or clueless like they just happened to be nearby and decided to come see what was happening.

.

And that was totally not the time to put on a smooth jazz performance either.

I couldn't watch it: my Indian connexion is too slow, the vid would stop every 5 seconds sad Hope someone recorded it!

If someone could also give me a detailed report of the unreleased music that was played, with titles and lenght, for the discog, it would be highly appreciated (since Princevault didn't report anything on it so far).

what a disappointing stream night that was from the start to the end....... mad sad eek lol

Prince should have played some funky music from the Art Official Age album with 5 minutes intro by Maya. At least 30 minutes live music by Prince would have been fine, promoting both of the new albums!

Not doing 1 hour intro by Maya, that was embarrassing. Also. The rapper was embarrassing.

This was a nightmare event for Prince cuz even the girlband was sounding like crap, like noice.

Better luck with ur next stream, Mr. Nelson.

It can't get any worse than this. Only better. smile

Don't flame me now, I am only speaking my opinion. Peace. sad

It was cool to get a sense of what Josh is like, and to hear unreleased tracks. But I would have enjoyed more information about the two new albums. AOA is amazing, and I really like some tracks on PE. Some real background info on the writing and/or recording process would have been killer.

I did think that was odd when he didn't. Liv Warfield seemed to be under the impression that she was singing WOW during the show, but that never happened. 3EG said they didn't know if they were playing or not. Prince seemed in his zone, because he had everybody in hurry up and wait mode, jumping at his beck and call. I thought it was entertaining to watch him be a dick to his employees in real time. I used to go to a lot of shows back in the 90's and for me the best part was not always the music itself, but how Prince yanked the chains of the people on his tour.

so, last word on the Yahoo thing. I feel bad that the host was put in that spot. She did what she could, but someone should have known to put someone in that spot who could speak to what we were seeing on the tour.

Just saw the itunes ranking; my thoughts? If Prince had come out swinging hard, I think he could easily overtake the number one position. It was a foolproof and easy means to let people see him in action and come way with "damn that man is bad, let me download these cd's", as opposed to being bewildered by his "normal" MO, and assuming that their original thoughts were correct.

I sincerely hope the albums do well, as they deserve to, but it was just so frustrating to see him throw away a supreme opportunity to show the "fair-weather fans" that he's still the same bad-ass musician's musician.

I didn't mind the quirky host too much, Prince has always had fans of all ages and of many different levels of intelligence. She could have known the material better, but it seemed she genuinely was excited to be there.

Problem is, after 5 minutes of her babbling bumbling awful performance, anybody who was not a diehard was tuning out. After 45 minutes, some of the diehards were. I was on the phone for half of it, and I almost turned it off. But it was also so bad it was good. Just shaking my head in disbelief.
