So what did we learn form the Livestream... Hannah and Donna are cool.. Everyone had a story of how Prince thinks he can make a song out of literally ANYTHING, which explans an awful damn lot, imo... Paisley Park is an amazing studio. I really liked the mural that featured Vanity 6 and The Time... Bobby Z takes instructions from Prince with paper and pen biggrin ... Remember that John Bream interview when he drove out to Paisley, and ended up only talking to Prince on the speakerphone? I said then that nikka was upstairs pretending to be too busy for the interview. He just pulled the same stunt on the livestream. "We weren't planning to play tonight, but" Then why was your mike set up on the stage at the beginning of the livestream?...Josh and Prince have a ton of aimless bible based tracks that they are impressed with, but, they don't sound all that promising. Prince probably does need help though if he's seriously going to write music as a way of getting with today's pop chart industry chicks... NPGQ's material was strong and reminicent of SOTT and Madhouse without copying much more than synth patches from that era. Prince is likely too busy to write real songs with them though, right? Ahh he'd fuck that up too more than likely, but maybe the tracks would at least have melody again? IDK

You hit the nail right on the head. lol The parts about Prince probably on the phone and probably being right upstairs, and the not planning to play tonight, made me laugh out loud, because that's just so Prince. lol......The man is still playing the same old games.

In the car on the way back! Gotta say I was screaming nearly hyperventilating when we got there for free and 10 minutes later he comes out. When Kendrick appeared I just about lost it completely. Once in a lifetime! It was a short set, but it was free. Hung around for maybe an hour and a half afterwards on the plush couches and the bouncers told us he wasn't going to play again so we split. Loved it! I seemed to be one of the only ones grooving to the new material between sets....

The usual spoilt negative responses on the org.. Classic..

He didn't have to do a record release event. I thought the acoustic video and song was AMAZING, brilliant lyrics.. Next the conversation with P and the unreleased material including that "slow song" was unbelievable. I actually enjoyed listening to AOC and breakdown moving through the audience and that 2nd track the NPjazz/NPQ band played was really incredible.

Well done P, loving all this and can't wait for the next 2 albums!

Sweet jebus... "hey I've got two new albums out and I'll promote that with a streaming web video where I'll play next to nothing from those albums and instead focus on new unreleased music and some jazz band that just had to have NPG in their name and I'll have a ditzy girl saying stupid stuff and I'll have bland uninteresting interviews with associate artists. Yeah, that'll do the trick."

.

There's "lack of fiocus" and then there's this mix of self-sabotage and incompetence.

YES. And you know he's going to blame WB for the albums not doing better than they'll do. He will say WB failed to promote them. He had a great opportunity tonight. He blew it.

The only people interested enough to stay up to watch it would have bought the albums already anyway.

That show was a deliberate move to re-enforce all the typical perceptions of Prince:

he's unreliable, does his own thing, is not present in person, has other people speaking for him, lives in a weird house, teases and withdraws, has a brainless female, makes music from morning till night, is unstoppable.

That's how the Prince-product has been sold from the late 1970s ...

That seemed like a heavy hint from Ida about a 'very long' tour.

Ida came off like she should be churning butter or something in the coutryside. She's pretty and 3EG photgraphs well and projects great personality, but none of that is used effectively on the record.. Josh is so committed to filling the void left by Kirky J, he's wearing the vests... Josh says Prince can hear wi-fi, I'm thinking that's why he doesn't like the Clouds... Everybody's hating on the host, but in all likelyhood she had no idea she was hosting anything until moments before the camera came on. Remember this thing started late. I think Prince was dirty-dawging her by throwing her out there to get her adrenaline going, and her head spinning. "Got you doing things/you never thought you do". Later she probably got a 'kiss on the neck/ when she doesn't expect'. That's theredpill Game 101. He probably smashed and that was the REAL point of her hosting... By the way now we know the odd AOA cover was her idea.. All in all, seriously, I think Prince did well. From a technical point of view, it came off well. If they were working with stronger songs it might have been amazing. The covers and unreleased music was really the best material I heard. Prince just toying with us again.

Sure didn't, but I did enjoy the snippets of the 2 songs Prince asked Josh to play from the studio.

hey girl?

how have you been?

missing you from 3121 days

always welcome your comments

and Yeah, what's up with that Jimi diss?

Lol..Hi there! Forgive me if I don't remember if I met you in person at one of those concerts, but I do remember your username here on the Org. Yes, I loved the 3121 era of concerts. Fun times and good memories. That's the time it seems Prince was starting to be more open to fans at those shows and giving high fives. I miss those fun days of Prince concert-hopping to different states, with other fans to see his shows. Oh and yeah...who brushes off Jimi like that? lol ...not cool.

Is it just me or did the jazz bands first song sound like the intro to a cheesy sitcom starring Ray Romano and Kelsey Grammer?

I kind of preferred the Prince Yule Log channel thing at the beginning where they just slowly/creepily panned over the instruments, because it kind of went downhill once this woman started talking.

Good to know that if my current gig doesn't work out, I clearly qualify to give tours of Paisley Park and show visitors photos of former band members like Winfred and Liesel, John Darkwell, Andrew Cymone, Brown Marcus and Renault Nato. We could even do a quick run through some of his classic albums with The Revolutions and other Paisley Park artists like Gina Jones or Dell Bozzios.

In his mind, he is thinking the show was groundbreaking, his games were overly creative, and his fans would be gushing over this hot photographer who thought Prince and the Power Generations were a band, and thought Jimi Hendrix was not worth naming.

Prince has no clue how cringe-worthy the whole event was.

Honestly, it was horrible, but there were some positives: It was free, NPG Barbecue seems like a fun little band, we got to hear a great portion of a great ballad. The new fast song had too many elements of young people music, but still had some really nice parts, and we got to see him play live for free. The setlist was pretty boring, but it was free...so as much as I want to clown on Prince for what a huge missed opportunity it was to bring good attention to the new albums, it was FREE.

Ok, I can say that watching 3EG go over all those outfits was Gut-wrentching when I was already falling asleep. They easily could have opened with a quick 20 minute opening that moved fast, and then right to the performance, and had played more of the new material...

But, we all know Prince botches promotion, and then blames the record company...

It's his way, and likely will never change...

So back to the main point, it was FREE...and despite my grumbles, I'm happy for what it was.

I loved the slow jam that Joshua played twice:)

On another note, if I invite you over to my house...don't complain when I do what I want to do. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't Prince have lots of Paisley Park parties where his stuff is setup on the stage and he doesn't play? I don't know, if I was a "whim" kind of guy...maybe I would have my ish setup just in case I felt like jamming.

What do you want them to be doing? Juggling? lol

Lately (the last 10 years?) the majority of the people walk to the stage and plant themselves there all night waiting for a performance, no matter how the evening is billed (dance party, etc.). I (and the folks I know) I usually wander around the back and dance when the mood strikes and whatnot. There's a mix of both but that tells you all you need to know - most folks only go there wanting to see him perform.

Once upon a time the parties were a bit more of parties and people danced and mingled and whatnot and it was a small contigency that planted themselves in front of the stage and never moved. Now it's nearly everyone it seems.

I think the problem most people have is that he will be complaining to no end that the albums didn't sell enough, and were not promoted right....

And he had a GREAT oppportunity to have an organized event at Paisley Park, and came up with nothing better than to get some lame photographer who could barely host a birthday party actually host an important event...

It just looks so silly...

But the wasted opportunity is the big thing...

And since Prince will Complain to no end...

It's ok for others to complain about him.

Yeah, I'm thankful it was free and all, but I'm allowed to give opinions too...

I just never understand people who just want to praise him for everything no matter how stupid it looks.
