Not the best lyrics he's written... putting it mildly. How many times can Prince write about putting your phone away? (I think we get it). Then, songs that are being compared to Owl City and songs without P on lead. Saying that the 'The Gold Standard' sounds kind of promising musically and I'm glad some Plectrumelectrum tracks were still played, it seems like that album is still a go. 3rdEyeGirl tweeted about a PlectrumElectrum listening party on Saturday, and then promptly deleted it. Right.
The ship is sailing for this album.

Now this is a great article! The only oddity is P asking her "would you buy this"
Didnt he ask the same thing to Breams? Kinda odd and somewhat pathetic question to ask
Outside of that it sounded like a great time to kick it with P and the gang. I also find it funny that he got impatient with the 3EG tracks....yeah thats cuz they suck P!
Now I'm excited again with this report and the This Could Be Us sample...
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Dag. Sounds like the Brother doesn't have any new music at all. "He's a musician's musician..."

2014 is almost over. no remasters (barely even any talk or promo), no PlectrumElectrum, no new Prince album...what a boring time to be a Prince fan.

Sweet Jebus, that article could have been written 5 or 10 or 15 years ago. The same asinine complaints, the same whining about radio, the same "I don't look back" BS (says man who spends 75% of his concerts playing 30 year old songs).
He's still complaining about "the system" when he's got plenty of ways to ignore the system. But yeah, that doesn't pay a couple of million in advance. That involves TAKING RISKS.
That's such blatant nonsense. Sure, he was one of the bestsellers, but I bet they were making plenty of money from others. I bet Madonna was bringing in far more loot than Prince, for instance. For crying out loud, WB had Chicago 17, ZZ Top's Eliminator and Afterburner, Van Halen's 1984 and 5150, REM's Green,...

I think he needs to do another soundtrack. Sunset Boulevard, perhaps... "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

I found this sentence to be a little strange:
" The first song was the opening track of the new 3rdEyeGirl album, Plectrum Electrum, a punchy, Prince-led track that also appears on Liv Warfield’s new album under the title “The Unexpected.”"
So he is redoing that song for his album and it is the opening track? I guess it has a different name? Are the music AND lyrics the same?
I am confused | |

Isn't he showing songs from two seperate projects here (excluding the Marrissa thing no one cares for)? Sounds like we may have a double album coming, two seperate releases or, worst case scenario, he has merged the albums together. First he says he doesnt look back, and then he tells an anecdote about a 1985 Rolling Stone cover shot and that bit about him and Madonna making all the money for the label.
And now he's free and hasn't released one album in four years.

Ive heard Marissa Jack before, she has a pretty nice voice (stronger voice than either Andy or Bria), and she's easy on the eyes. I support him working with her. Its also good to hear he and Taja are still friends. She's a great woman. Change it one more time..

Why the fuck is this thread in the Concerts section all of a sudden? This has got ZERO to do with Concerts. © Bart Van Hemelen

I will reply a little less harsh than Bart did, but can a moderator explain to me what kind of concert this was? Since it is in the concerts section, I'm waiting on a setlist, review, etc. It just sounds like another of the endless "listening parties" for a album that has had several of them, and there is still no album.

"“What I’m saying is really basic,” he said. “I don’t know how you could misunderstand it. Clear Channel owns all the radio. Someone is making the playlist for all the stations across the country, and it’s all corporately owned. You know iHeartRadio? They don’t sell records… If I’m going to play, I get paid a million dollars. How are they going to make that if they don’t sell any records? That’s why you see the same few artists playing all of their festivals; they own the publishing, they own the songs, they own everything"

. I think (?) he's complaining about the industry being so geared towards corporate 360 deals, maybe? . . Also - "You get the music you deserve" should never come out of his mouth again.
