It's not that I don't think Prince should play Glastonbury ever, as tired as this rumour is, but I don't see the point.

People here say it would make him 'relevant to today's audiences', well the hit and run shows earlier in London proved to me just how relevant he is and always will be. I was chatting to a couple of 20 something girls in the queue at Ronnie Scotts and they couldn't wait to get in.

He regularly schools acts from back in the day to now on how to perform live and entertain an audience wherever he pops up. Can he do festivals? Absolutely, look at Coachella or Hop Farm!

Glastonbury is sold out regularly, so him appearing wouldn't do anything extra for ticket sales, maybe for the touts (if they can still operate). I am pretty sure he wouldn't allow the BBC to show the performance, so that's a definite stumbling block. And then there's his cut, I don't think they could afford him and/or accomodate his demands.

I just get so frustrated with the fact that he could present himseld so much better and maybe even get sales. We, who go to see him, know how relevant he is but the wider world still refers to him as an 80's star. Likewise an appearance on Jools Holland. But you're right - its as likely as Luis Suarez getting an NHS dentist.

I absolutely agree. I've seen many bands at festivals that I've either never heard of or didn't really know too much about and have absolutely LOVED them. I have been known to spend more on music after a festival than the festival itself cost me. By booking their tickets before knowing the line-up, Gasto-goers are being open minded enough to accept whatever they are offered. Prince should think of the revenue from non-fans buying his back catalogue after seeing him and also, if he agreed to it being televised, how many other non-current fans (but fans for the future) he could reach. After all, we all became fans after seeing or hearing him somewhere

Am I the only one who thinks Glasto would be perfect for Prince? I'm really dissapointed that he isn't headlining. Sure, I wouldn't get to go but at least it'd be great live tv exposure like we NEVER see from him. The wider world needs to understand what he does now. Yes - he'd be seen by many as a novelty booking beforehand but the Glasto crowd would rise to the occasion and he'd be awesome as usual and prove that he isn't a novelty act AT ALL playing hits, covers and rare stuff.

It would be great exposure for him, and I think now more than ever to build on the momentum of the recent UK shows. I think even people who are not fans know of i'd say atleast around 10 songs so people who wouldnt really know too many others would still feel they could have a sing along. Yeah the set would have to consist of Hits but if they find the right balance he can sneak in newer stuff too or snippets at the very least. its a perfect time to Headline Glasto.
