At other 98 aftershows. Zurich was one. It was the shorter 20 min version he did. I think once was shorter at about 15 mins. Berlin maybe ?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I know it's not especially rare any more, but I was thrilled when I first heard him play Empty Room.
In fact that set list was pretty cool:

The Ladder then Empty Room. And then - having said "There ain't going to be no Purple Rain in this house tonight" or something, he ended with Purple Rain.
Amazing show. | |

So I guess "The Ball" was probably the only song that I saw live that was only played one single time by him AFAIK [Edited 6/12/14 1:19am] With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! Amazing show. I was at that show with amazing seats. It was without a doubt the best gig I have ever been to, my best mate was there too and agrees. I loved the Rainbow Children material played.. So good! "Still Crazy 4 Coco Rock"

It was very fucking cool. that was my first aftershow, and the whole thing blew my mind a little! [Edited 6/10/14 14:09pm] I was at paisley for the recording of the war, so I saw and heard the complete version of it. Rock and roll is alive is another one, I was at paisley for the filming of that video as well as gold video filming that same night!

Yeah it was at Club Nokia in 09. I think that was the 1st public performance. I lost my cool cool when I heard it. I'd say 20 of us probably recognized it too. Great moment capping an amazing LA3 experience.

I guess if I'm being honest these aren't so much rare just songs I've only heard once or of their time or some have just become extinct but here goes. And these were gems, not just tracks played cos they were on the album. Parade tour 86 - ATWIAD, Christopher Tracy's parade, automatic, miss you (stones cover) Lovesexy - nothing really feels that rare cos of the video but hearing Erotic City....just wow! Gett off & Thieves in the Temple My name is Prince (from the audience) & Irresistible bitch & Endorphine Machine 2 yrs b4 release I love u in me (as well as most of the Gold Album) Planet Earth Duet with Amy Winehouse Some tracks aren't necessarily rare but full versions rather than snippets I.e. Under the cherry moon, Sometimes it snows, 17 Days

'Papa' was performed, eh Wayney? I'd kill to hear that one live. That's extremely rare.

I saw the aftershow at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago on the Act I tour. Prince had one of the roadies bring out his purple notebook. He had just written Papa and didn't know all of the lyrics from memory and he held it and did the song. He also did Sacrifice of Victor, Come, Goldnigga, Black M.F. In The House, Call The Law, and Johnny, among others, but those were all pretty rare. TRUE BLUE

Man! 'Come' and 'Johnny'? I've missed out on a lot of good Prince shows. Here's hoping he comes to the Mid-South in the near future.
