Tickets are not selling well! The prices are crazy... On the other side the venue looks great and it is a small place... Will be interesting how many tickets they will sell...

I come out of the hibernation to post on this. I think the prices are absurd. I doubt he would ever charge that in London because the media here would be very critical.
If it doesn't sell out and prices drop, there will be uproar!
He's not playing an arena at short notice because the promoter probably knows it would be a push to sell out with a week's notice.

Wonder if he'll play Empty Room. Oh, wait.

No, not selling very well! Tickets are available for 1 1/2 hours - and you still can get seats in almost every section ... "ohYeeeeeah" said: I'm a massive Bowie fan. Even on Scary Monsters, I always skip Fame ...

Another disaster in Germany...one of the biggest music markets of the world... maybe the concert will be cancelled....

Of course, tickets for the Berlin show are insanely over-priced. But so are many other things. As long as there is demand, Prince will be the supplier to those who just can't help themselves when twittering on what they can afford. Monetarism is the name of the game.
But hope if on its way. If he ain't selling out ticket-prices will be lowered as in the US recently.
A PR-disaster will most likely not happen. He will get the attention he is obviously craving for, but that does not make him any worse than Coldplay or Madonna. Prince has obviously understood that people by and large are always willing to seperate from each other. Premium is the keyword that defines individualism in the modern world. It ain't about what you are, it is about what you can afford.
Talking of Peter Gabriel: His premium-tickets cost 420 Euros...

totaly agree, and If it had been sold out on the same day, then the prices would be too low.

one concert in germany and then in a small venue should sell out immediately. Yes other bands also take high prices. But I haven´t seen such high prices before. Last year he played small venues way cheaper.

Remember that prince mantra "it's all about the music"? What a lump he is! What I used to got to prince for, I can now give myself. It's better that way. small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

€ 300.- !!!! Prince don´t want me there.

New prices. New Seats. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
naaah, still too much :/ idk what he's thinking, I was really willing to go, but these prices are ridiculous!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I know.. but i guess it´s the local promoter in germany who´s thinking that way. He wanted Prince to play in Berlin, found a location and offered him a guarantee payment. Now he needs to sell the tix..... Maybe I´m wrong... don´t know.

i bought some tickets but can't find any one who want to go with me at (or near) these prices. Will sell them (paper tickets) to an orger for 275 euro each OBO (I paid 306 each). but that's definitely not the way... I'm not the only person who got excited at the news of Prince playing in Berlin, and then resigned because of the crazy prices... I attended Prince concert in Berlin 4 yrs ago and paid €84,5 for a ticket. Now, that was an accessible price a lot of people could afford. Getting small venues and selling unbelievably expensive tickets is not a way of gathering people. And I feel really sad, because I haven't seen Prince since 2011 and I miss him Still, even €188 is too much for a student like me... :<

Yes, that is how it usually works...
If you consider, that there were rumours he charges up to 1,5 Mio a night, those tickets wouldn't cover the costs... On the other hand also German tax rules have something to do with it. It's being said, that artists playing in Germany have to pay high income tax (per show in Germany). Anyway it is way too expensive...

So let´s be realistic then. The show will be canceled.... the promoter can´t bear the loss and Prince doesn´t care.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Several hours after the ticket sale has begun, suddenly there are new sections and prices ....
Is this fair towards the people who bought tickets within the first minutes??
I also think this will get canceled!

yes, let's be realistic, the show will be sold out until next week tuesday. you will see. like I said before: if it had been sold out on the same day, then the prices would be too low = bad deal for the promoter!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
What? the show won`t sell out.... Many stars perform in germany despite taxes....germany is the biggest european market and if you perform in arenas with 10 to 20 000 people, you still make enough money if you charge less... It was just maybe Prince`s typical attitude " I want 1 million € per show" and the promoters thought the people would pay so much... As you can see now with the reduction, the strategy failed....

Now this is interesting: http://www.mediabiz.de/mu...lpos=InV_1
It says that the same german concert promoter who booked the disaster-show in Cologne 2011 has booked Prince yet again for the Berlin show 2014. As long as the bucks roll, everything is seemingly willy nilly.
Don't get me wrong, I think it is good to earn money and it is always good to make a profit. But the whole concert-business is being way over-fed with money. And Prince belongs to the elitist group of artists that make huge amounts of cash, yet they keep complaining about the music world not being what it was - blablabla. I don't care if he thinks he's entitled to a million bucks in Berlin for that one show. He should think so if he wants to. But I am not going to support him in his endeavours.

is prince that odd? only 3.500 ticket must be sold, come on in a city like Berlin? This is probably the most exciting location on this tour. I am pretty sure it will be sold out until tuesday.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You must be joking. Berlin has never ever been as exciting as Amsterdam or Brussels or Paris.

you realy underestimate Berlin. But that's very germany, they always underestimate themselves. C U there!

Let's see if we can find out what the thrill is to attend a Prince-concert:
- you will imagine that you will be in the presence of people who more or less like to listen to the same stuff that you listen to - you will perhaps have a chance to listen to live-renditions of some of your favorite songs - you may have the chance to listen to really good live-renditions of those songs, if the little guy will be in the right mood - you hope and pray that the little guy will be in the right mood, because otherwise your 300 Euro-ticket will equal a measly 10 Euro-ticket - you will be in the presence of a rather well-known person who doesn't give a shit about whether you or any other person in the auditorium is having a good time - you will have no right to take a photo, to smoke, to turn up wherever you want to go within the auditorium, but you are entitled to clap your hands and sing along if the guy on the stage wants you to do so - basically you have no rights at all, apart from having the right to leave the venue if the sound is miserable or way too loud or if the show itself is shitty. Now, that has never been the case in a Prince-show, you might say? People who attended the Cologne-show in 2011 had hearing-problems for a few days afterwards... - you have paid roughly between 200 and 300 Euros for the privilege of repeating the same lyrics over and over again and you might think that you are having a good time while doing so - you will probably raise your chances for getting a blow job from either girls or boys if you wear something purple - you might get a blow job in the "most exciting city on that tour", according to some - your mum and dad are probably so well cushioned financially that you just don't need to think about the 300 Euros for a ticket - you might think that sepnding 300 Euros for a ticket is cool and totally crazy - you may not care about other people in the midst of "the most exciting city on that tour" are lving in utter poverty
Anyone else willing to have take on that?
