Who's taking the kids to see Prince? Well, I've been to my fair share of Prince gigs in my time, but I'm actually more excited than ever this time. My 11 yr old girl is coming to Leeds and she is 'on the ceiling' excited. She LOVES Hannah and the girls . Taking her Mum and Aunt too. On top of that my Mum and her husband are coming the same night, even if they are up in the 3rd tier. 3 generations
We're all super excited. I'm off to Birmingham with my best buddy on the opening night and will judge ear protection requirements for my daughter at that show. I expect they won't be quite the same painfully loud experience we had in feb.
Rock n roll
Anyone else bringing the kids, now we've got seats and advance tickets?

not for these prices, no.

I have always dreamt of taking my kids to a P concert, but then I would have liked them to actually see him. That is most entertaining. Not just the music. Considering the rip off for Golden Circle prices and viagogo prices you must be Rockefeller to afford this. It´s a shame. By the time they will have grown up, he might not tour anymore.

Hmm, that's a shame. Granted, it's a lot of money. I'm self employed, but things are OK finance wise at the mo. Would love more people to be able to go in that case.
Apart from cycling, I don't really spend on much, so this is a rare splurge.
Hope it's worth it | |

4 years ago I took my son (7y) to his first Prince concert (Sportpaleis Antwerpen). I didn't know how he would react but it was a fantastic concert and he loved it very much. He kept on dancing. He didn't get tired and neighter did Prince. Some days later he listened to a random selection of Prince songs and he could very well remember wether this song was or was not played in concert ("Yes, but it was a different kind of piano,...". I couldn't beleive he captured it that well. I loved to see him dancing all night long. He really enjoyed it and so did his father Now he plays the drums himself so if Hannah neeeds some assistance,... But remember to give them earpluggs.

If possible, I'd recommend taking a teenager to the show. Mainly because they will be more impressed, and remember it more, than a young child will. But you can't go wrong taking ANY child to a Prince show, IMO.

awesome idea for a thread. So pleased to say that I am taking my girls to Manchester on Saturday. They finally get to see what all the fuss is about!!. Great seats for them too, Block 115! Hope he plays a tonne of guitar as one of mine plays too.

Great to hear you and others are taking the kids, or have done previously. It makes it all the more exciting. My daughter is so excited, my only concern now is, if she's disapponted. I'm sure she won't be. She wants to be friends with Hannah
Practical question. Anyone got experience of good noise reduction plugs for kids? I want to be well prepared.
Cheers - Hope everyone has fun

That's so cool Nice to hear people will take their kids. Who knows how many chances young folk will get to see an act like Prince in the next 50 years. Not many I expect.
Have fun! | |

My eldest is 6 & wanted to go so badly, wee soul. But I think he's just a wee bit too young. I'll take him when he's nearer 10. I think it would be too loud for their wee ears that young, & I'd worry a full show might be too long & too much for them. He'll be there soon enough though cuz he knows all the 3rdeyegirl material, likely more than casual fans!

I took my kids (then 7 and 9) to Zucchero last year and they had a great time. So sure, you can take your kids but remember: PROTECT THEIR EARS! Not so expensive and also a great thing for their education! the younger they learn, the better.
We went to a festival a few days ago and the kids asked for the protection themselves.

It's the other way round for me. Taking my parents for the first time. They are in their 70's (but still very young at heart) and my dad really knows his music and has seen some legends in his time. Dr John, Leonard Cohen, Mahalia Jackson, Dave Brubeck, Jackson Browne, Ray Charles, John lee Hooker, Joe Bonamassa the list goes on and on and his record collection is out of this world! Can't wait for him to see Prince live!

Yes, I'm taking 2 out of 3. Going to Manchester on Friday with usual Prince buddies. Then on Saturday taking hubby & our youngest, 9. Followed by Leeds on the 23rd when I am taking our eldest, 18. After this I am crashing at her student flat at Leeds Uni. Should be interesting. Son, 16, refused as "didn't want to miss a night palying on his PS4 with his mates". What?
As always I am super excited at seeing P and I really hope they appreciate what I have been telling them about all their lives. The only slight downer is that as most people on the Org I bought tickets immediately as they went on sale. In all the chaos of which tickets were apparently sold out we will be very far back on all 3 nights. In fact I think the last time we were as far back as this was Wembley in 86. Tried for the more expensive tickets for all three nights but only the cheaper ones came up. Since then much better tickets have been on sale.
Not too bothered for myself, we were at the front at the Academy both nights in Feb. As it may be the only time the kids go ideally would have liked them to have been a little nearer, but they will get the atmosphere and the music and I'm sure have a fantastic time. Roll on Friday.

Well, this is something I have been wanting to do for ages I have been watching and listening to P since I was 9 - in 1979 - and have seen him in concert many many times now My 14 year old son plays piano and guitar and our house is full of music - he has been in a rock band since junior school lol Anyway he has never been to a gig - and loves Prince as well as old school funk So I have been so excited to take him - twice to Manchester and now to Leeds this Friday Manchester we were in the top tier first night and lucky to be 4 rows back right next to the stage on the Saturday night He was absolutely blown away Friday in Leeds I am taking him and my wife too to her first ever gig - absolutely cant wait! They are genuinely some of the most enjoyable nights I have ever had in my life - seeing his reaction and how stoked/inspired he is Brilliant
