Help with queuing information for people with standing tickets

Hi,

For those who have been to the birmingham gig (and those due for the gig tonight) could you please give us an idea what time would be best to go for those with standing tickets. I think from last nights comments that those getting there for 4pm will almost certainly guarantee a good standing spot. That said one orger said they got there at 7:15pm and still managed to get a spot about 15 rows deep.

Also for those who were standing last night what were people like when you had to disappear for toilet breaks and then make your way back into the crowd?

Thanks for anybody who replies to this. I'm seeiing Prince on Monday and need to work out what time to finish work so I can get to Birmingham to get a decent standing spot. I'm about 90 mins from Bham.

If I have standing tickets I try to get there by 4 p.m. - 5.p.m. You won't be the first but otherwise it can be a long wait biggrin

Sometimes, when you're in the GC, people sit down on the floor waiting. As far as toilet breaks are concerned, maybe try to go just before the concert actually starts. I once went on my own so I had no one to "keep my spot" in the crowd. But I had been chatting to the people next to me and asked them to hold some space for me while sitting on the floor. I made my way back to these people very easily afterwards. Well, some people in the crowd may make some angry remarks because they think you're trying to just get in front of them, but if you say you "have to get back to your friends" or whatever, they'll let you pass smile

Starlit,

Thank you very much for the reply. I'm going to aim for 4 so should get there for 5!!! Not going to be drinking. I drank way too much at the O2 concerts and went dry for Hop Farm and consequently enjoyed it much more.

I arrived around 7:20 and didn't actually walk into the standing area until 7:40 maybe, after a drink, bathroom break etc.

After the initial 100-200 people who turned up very early to get the best spot, you could still stroll up and be pretty close. I could have got to within 10-15yds of the stage without having to push past anyone. As it was I was about 20-25 yds back in the end.

As for handling toilet breaks, we all know the answer - no drinking once you get inside and you should make it through smile

Enjoy the show!

Mr Bump,

So it sounds like unless you want to get there for 4pm (in which case you could still find yourself in a large queue of people) you could always settle for 7ish and still get a good spot.

thx for the info. I think I'll still try to get there as early as I can although my non prince friend who is going with me may want the 7pm option!!!

No worries. I noticed it filled up very quickly from 7:45 onwards. It's a balancing act of course, between having a drink, bathroom stops and getting a satisfactory spot by the stage. I'm sure the more mathematically inclined in this forum could create a formula to optimise this smile
