Does this mean he could possibly perform as well? Not that that changes anything at this point for me...it's last minute and the tickets are too pricey....for me that is T_T

Even if he's just attending I hope he still has a great time! This year's line up seems pretty amazing so I'm sure he will =)

I got super excited when I first started to read he would be at Coachella, then I was bummed since it said Paisley Park would continue next weekend. See, I'm going to Coachella next weekend and that would have been amazing to see him there. IF he does perform this weekend I hope I can view it online. If he is just attending then I won't be as bummed out since that means I'm not missing him next weekend.

Sidenote, I've been a long time viewer of this forum but just joined as of last month. If it wasn't for this forum I wouldnt have scored tickets to the surprise Fillmore show in SF. Went to the first show, it was AMAZING! First time I've seen Prince in such a small venue. Waaaay better than the arenas.

Pharrell performs there. And I guess that means Nile Rodgers will be there too. And we know that prince and Nile will be performing together this year. That could be the connection.

Or prince just wants to check out some new bands or whatever.

I read today that when Outkast performed last night they mentioned Prince being backstage. So no performance yet. Maybe he is there to just watch. A lot of celebs go the first weekend. But, we still have Pharrell yet to perform and that could be a possible act to join.

As far as I have heard and read, Nile Rodgers will not be there. But, Pharrell is known for having special guests join him on stage so anything is possible.

No one has said that Prince will perform, it's annoying that fans think he has no life outside making his own music, he might just be going to see some bands and hang out with friends...and do something normal!!

I didn't say that he will perform there. It was pure speculation. It's annoying that people like you insinuate that I and others are a little stupid based on such simple statements. Prince has of course a private life, everyone knows that. But we also know that he did a lot of surprise appearances at concerts of his friends in the past. So it's conceivable, isn't it?

I really liked Alex Rossi and the Root City Band. Very nice and likeable, talented guys with a very organic sound.Thirty bucks might be a bit too steep to see some more or less amateur local bands but I like the idea to support some local talents and provide them with the opportunity to use Paisley Park, plus you may get to see Prince if you're lucky.
It was also nice to meet a few orgers and former orgers and say hi. Would have been cool to see Prince, too while I'm here in the States to visit some good old friends but maybe next time. wink
It's been more than a decade now that I've been to Paisley Park and it still looks nice and cosy there.
The bathrooms are impeccable and smell nice, and the staff is incredibly friendly and professional. It was also nice to see some familiar faces like Kirk Johnson and some others.
The merchandise stand had the Hawaii box with the book and incense, some t-shirts from the musicology tour, some purple ones with the 1999 font "Prince" written on them and some NPS CDs. and of course CDs of Alex Rossi and the Root City Band.

And they sold food, too. Pancakes and other stuff. Maybe I will try some tomorrow and give you a more detailed report on the food, since I love to cook.

all in all, it's good to be back in Minneapolis , and it was good to be back in Chanhassen. razz

Second Friday night I have gone and a pattern does seem to be emerging. Movie night. Which is cool.... But for $40 including parking to see a bar band that went on way too long and then go to a movie. Eh. I'm tiring of this game. Two weeks ago was fun even though no performance, to see Liv on Letterman, some cool concert footage and yes, I went to Captain America 2! But somehow I had the feeling that with all the news etc. we might get something special this week but I was wrong. Oh well. It is a cool place and I hope to see Prince play there again soon but unfortunately I don't have enough money to keep dropping $40 to maybe see some band I don't care about.. neutral

I wonder if he's going to play tonight. On twitter there was a post where someone was doing a drawing for two free tickets to PP after dark for Saturday night. I feel like when there's some buzz around a certain night, he always seems to show up. I could be wrong. Was 3rd Eye there last night? I would be surprised they are around since it's Easter weekend.

Well have to say I really and truly would like to go out there. This is when I wish I was invisible, because I'm painfully shy and old! LOL Anyhow, as a women I think it's even more difficult to go alone. Wish I could find someone to go with me. Not that I don't know other Prince fams/fans, but everyone is soooo soooo busy! Maybe someday I'll just show up and say "u only live once" and DANCE! smile

FOR ALL THAT GO - THANKS FOR THE REPORTS!

You should go! I have gone alone many times because I can never find someone to go last minute or get a sitter last minute. It's always more fun enjoying it with someone but my thought is that it's such a treat to see him either way that it's worth getting out there and going, even if you have to go alone. Plus, I always meet people there!

WOW!!!! New Sound Underground!!!! those dudes funk out. think, mixture of joe sample, lee ritenour and dave grusin with a touch of jean luc ponty. full rich jazzy chords with a strong funk foundation; there were two horn players in the group but they sounded like a full section.

the drummer and guitarists are nuts, the keyboardist also crazy amazing. those guys can PLAY. i bought their album, which is going to hold me over until plectrum drops. love love LOVE you Paisley Park After Dark. a grateful thank you to all the amazing sweet staff-people who make these parties possible. five starZ
