I arrived at Paisley at a little after 10 and paid 10 dollars to park in the lot. After I paid another 30 bucks to enter I walked over to the side room adjacent to the soundstage and listened to music for the next 3 hours that was broken for a short 20 minutes of footage from the montreaux show. I was under the impression that they would show the whole concert but unfortunately it was the exact same block of 3 to 4 songs they showed at the dance party in January. At about 1:30 they opened the door to the soundstage and we entered in to see the stage with a sparse collection of instruments so I knew immediately that we would get no appearance from prince. We listened to the unknown band and they were pretty good playing all cover songs with 4 different vocals who took turns. They played for abou 40 minutes and did a single song encore. After they were finished the advertised dj girl played for about 20 minutes and then they announced that they were closing down. Kind of an anti climatic ending IMO. Overall definitely not worth the 3 hour drive, 30 dollar cover charge, and 3 dollar bottles of water. This will probably be the last time I roll the dice on one of these events.

.

Bwahahahaha.

.

Turns out the artwork for this "event" wasn't the crappiest part of it.

Not like you to be bitter Bart...why the sudden change of heart?

from my experience it was great.

my girl and i were so nervous. when we pulled into the parking lot i started hyperventaling, LOL.

my girl she was too. She was afraid that she was going to say something that would offend Prince and I was afraid that I already have.

we got our nerves together and we got out of the car. It was FREEZING! she had really cute outfit but it really ment for late spring. We ran to the door.

This Big Guy was standing at the door. He was very pleasent. Yet firm. No camera's or recording devices. then he smiled and said "Have a great time." We got to the cashier and WE were IN!

It was so exciting. This was my girls first time at paisley park. I didn't want her to be bored and I didn't want to scare her. She said she had to go to the bathroom and I showed her where it was. As she went in, I said to her.... "the bathrooms are mic, whisper some sweet nothings." she looked at me like, what? then she got it. EVERYTHING IS RECORDED. LOL

She looked so beautiful standing in front of the mirror drying of her hands. She never once looked at herself. She kept her eyes on her hands the whole time and when she finished she looked up at me and smile.

THERE WERE 2 Princes in the house last night.

I lead her to the dance floor so we could look around. We got close to the DJ and stood there. Groving. Then i look to my left and I saw Hana and Ida. They were georgous. Then i looked up at the screen and because the music stopped. They were playing the video. Oh By the way COOL was TIGHT. we let out a big OOOOOHHHH, then I looked over to see what Hana and Ida where doing. That's when i saw her..... Donna.

I looked over at my girl and i said to her. There's Donna. My girl looked around me to see and then she look at me smiling and she said, "Yeah." it was so GREAT. My girl kept me on a leash, other wise Donna would have been politely saying "i don't want to talk to you right now." LOL

My girl and I was trying to get into the groove but it was hard because the dj kept stoping the beat for the crowd to shout out. it gets annoying but what ever, we still danced.

It was starting to get hot and i was doing the one thing i didn't not want to do. Sweat. I didn't want to be all sweaty just in case....

I talked to Donna. smile

My girl and I wanted to go outside, so we asked the nice guy at the door if we could go outside for a few minutes. He said they normally didn't let people go in, out and back in, but this time it was ok.

we went out to the car to smoke a cigarette.

while in the car, I told her about the first time I arrived at Paisley Park. It sounded so crazy and she said that they must have thought that i was crazy. I told her i was very young, lol.

we got up our nerves and went back in. As we were walking up the back parking lot we saw this guy about to enter the door. He looked familiar. It was my working associate and friend. Big Daddy.

We called out to him and he turned, smiling. We ran to him and gave him a big hug. It was great to see him there. He had gotten busted because he had his cell phone and they asked him to take it out to the car. He doesn't know about "the rule."

We got back in and found Big Daddy's girl and we dance. The four of us. It was so much fun.

There were these two girls dancing their asses off and they wanted me to dance with them, but because i was with my girl and it was her first time at the park, i didn't dance with the girls. I wanted to be respectful to my girl and give her all my attention.

to those girls, i wasn't being a prude, i was just being with my girl. Sorry, but maybe next time.

so then the other room opened up and we all went in. I was the last one.

the stage was set up but i noticed that it wasn't the gear usually set up. That room is EPIC!

the music was spinning and people were seemingly having a good time. My girl said to me she wanted to play pool. I looked over to the side of the stage and there it was, The pool table. I said to her. Look the table is open. We are a bit of pool sharks. We have one of our own at the studio and we play ALOT. So the four of us went of and started to rack up the table.

we got about 3 rounds in when the guard came over and said that we shouldn't play because it was an expensive table and they didn't want to take a chance on it getting damaged. We told him that we were well aquainted with pool tables, but he still suggested we stop. He was very cool about it, and we were too.

The band begin to play. They were really good. My favorite song they sang was Electric Lady.

It was great to see 3rd Eye Girl supporting them. They stayed the whole time.

I was more interested in Trevor and the camera he was holding. A canon c100. That camera is so epic and i now understood why all those clips of the band where so HOT!

At the end of the show, we wanted to beat the crowd out. So we went to the cashier and asked her if they were closing at 2. She said yes. So we left.

It was an awesome time and the great part is my girl wasn't even dissapointed that Prince and 3rd Eye Girl didn't perform. She had a good time anyway, as well as, big daddy, his girl and i.

Thanks for a magical evening and a great date night Paisley Park.

The first song was something like: so you think you're better than Prince.

You mean those were the lyrics???? Who is singing it??? Did the DJ Lenka Paris play Macarena??? because I saw that on Twitter... Also, what food was served???? I wonder if the low turnout is why Prince didn't perform. I also see Lenka Paris puts her Prince mixes here:

Awwwww, d u c k feathers! If, I'de of been paying attention, I would have gone. $10.00 to park my car in the lot (worth it) wouldn't have to walk alone down a dark road. Secondly, $30.00 entry worth it for Lenka, period - love her mixes and a SUPER personality, period! Fun Fun Fun. And most importantly - 3rd EyeGirl, hosting with a new band never seen?

That to me is a nice change up from my regular mental and physical scenery.

I cheers my no sugar granolla snacks to you, Mr. Nelson, Thank U.

the party was great, what could be cooler? to be privileged enough to be invited in for the birth of an entirely new prince protege group? HELLO???? UniverSOUL rocks! the players are tight, the singers are strong (major new and old vocal talent) and the repertoire is great. i'd hire them for a party and seeing their debut at paisley park! was amazing! double exclamation points

prince and 3RDEYEGIRL were super kind, generous enough to invite us into their home and host a groovy party with snacks and a lot of very cool people who worked their butts off so we could have fun! (thank you again mr. security guy, being out there in the cold and letting us know what was up you rock and so did everyone else THANK YOU exc. pnts.)

i really don't think some folks give prince and his crew enough credit for being great to the fans. i mean, everyone rags on him and his team over the bootleg issue but when you look at the thing he is clearly quite indulgent to us fans. anyway, i hope we see more of UniverSOUL

The video was cool but,

there was a cover charge was $30.00. So I was like I am going, I can afford it. I even invited my step-son who is mentally delayed, he is a special needs person. I waited until he turn 18 yrs old before I brought him out to see Prince at Paisley Park. I have been going for years and I have never had a bad experience as I did last Saturday. He spent his hard working money on his bad experience and I felt so bad for him.

The young kid that was D.J ing in the party room was lame, he couldn't hype up the crowd. When they opened up the Sound Stage DJ Paris (Linka) made up the lack of spinning that he was doing. She killed it on the turn tables, much better!!!

Universal Soul Jammed Saturday night, they are good, but not worth $30.00. If they want to play somewhere they should go down to Bunkers and do their thing.

So needless to say Prince wasn't there, I am use to that but for no $30.00. So my step-son was very disappointed and he may not go again until he play at one of the big venues.

People crack me up. How exactly does charging a $30 cover charge for an unknown band (that wasn't announced as playing, so therefore the crowd is not given the chance of deciding whether or not they want to spend their money on an unknown band) equate to Prince being indulgent to his fans??

Being indulgent to his fans would have been showing all or at least a good chunk of footage from Montreux, and PRINCE actually playing AT HIS HOME, like everyone who paid was hoping he would. And you can't blame them, either.

I totally get that the Prince apologists can't be swayed, and I'm also not saying he's evil or nothin'...but it would be great if he could be a tad more upfront about what he is charging for so that people wouldn't have to either be happy with whatever non-Prince crap he throws at them, or feel like they wasted their money.

I'm a massive fan of Prince...but for the last 20 years I couldn't give a fuck about any of his so-called protegees. Okay, Andy is fun, for sure. I actually bought her album and love it. But UniverSOUL - I can promise that based on the name alone I want nothing to do with them.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Glad you both had a great time at Paisley, I hope you'll get to go there again soon, and all the best to you and your girl. rose

Can you describe that epic room??

It was hugh. on the wall behind the stage where these giant screens. like IMAX size. They were projecting a klydeascope of colors. It was kinda hypnotic. The stage was light just pefrectly. Reds, golds, and yellows. It was a space where you could breath, deeply. Everything was so polished and clean. The ping pong table was set up. 3 balls under one paddle, ready to serve. The furniture was large, except for this one chair that looks space age. I set my coat on it. It was clear like a podium. I think it was a chair. There were these roped up section, i am assuming they were for VIP because the people who were sitting there look like they belonged there.

There was this one lady, who helpped me get home to New York, back during the 777 event. She was really nice to me back then. Very kind and gentle. She looked so proud sitting up there. She looked like an elder.

When walking into the room, it has a space age feel to it. It's almost like being in the main deck on the Starship Enterprise.

The DJ is at the back of the space. I am guessing because of the sound. She could hear everything from where she was accoustically. She she played there was no echo. The sound was pretty balanced.

Even though the space is large it gets the feel that it was set up for about 10 people to lounge in.

comfortablely.

It was very large yet personal.

I image that is where they spend most of their time, when rehearsing.

plus the history alone of that room.

Epic.

I was just reading a review on the Pajama Party in Oct. and noticed P charged a $50 donation fee for entry, just wondering if anyone knows if he donates the money he earns from his shows at PP?

I know, that's why that recent list of "unknown Prince Facts" (or w/e they called it) on Buzzfeed pissed me off so bad! Not one mention of his good deeds besides his writing for others.

Thank you. It looks like the room with "old" NPGMC carpet - the one that they used for RnR love Afair video? Sounds like it has been completely remodeled. There was mention that the soundstage was going to be re done as well. Any sign of that?

She's describing the soundstage area. The NPGMC room still looks the same as it did 20 years ago. The only remodeling I noticed in the past several years is the bathrooms.
