Forgive me I'm just coming down from the 2nd show, holy bleep. My ears are still ringing & I find myself at work, very surreal. Before my 2nd wind blows right by me let's just say P was on fire! He had that hungry look in his eye like someone waiting for a midnight snack & boy did he deliver the goods. I should preface this to say I was at The Fox gig in Oakland & pointed out that after the lukewarm Something In The Water response he seemed to go into cruise control. The SF show & crowd was the antithesis of that night. The guitar solo's were drawn out & improvised making the set list come alive in a new way. He's the only guy who can reinvent a song seemingly on the spot that takes it to another level. So many highlights. The ones that come to mind, the great pedal work during I Like it There recreating alot of the effects ala The Undertaker which I love. The Love we Make was a nice surpise with beautiful piano & vocals by the man. He introduced the 1st encore by saying we just want to play Rock N Roll Tonite (no kidding) then they went into Chaos & Disorder. Something In The Water was otherworldly, crowd went nuts for this one making up for last saturday. I was fortunate enough to be in front of the mic 2 rws deep so you could really feel the energy coming off of him then being returned in kind by the crowd. He said a few times at the end "This was the one" meaning this was the show to see, I couldn't agree more. Gotta get back to work but when more highlights trickle in I'll try to post if someone else hasn't. Epic night/morning

Was it recorded? Maybe he meant that was the one to put on DVD. lol .. wishful thinking.

It was a recorded version and he played a couple of verses from it over the PA system. I have no idea if it was the same one from previous listening parties but it probably was.

I am really quite baffled by people saying that there was limited crowd participation and low energy at the Fox show on Sat.

I was at the Fox and I was at the early show at Fillmore. Both had great energy.

Something In The Water at the Fox was stellar. Shit, he segued into Computer Blue!!! And even played some Computer Blue like guitar licks in SITW at the Fox.

I did not think he was put off by lack of crowd participation at any point during the Fox show. I had exactly the opposite impression.

The funny thing for me about seeing Prince, is everyshow is "The One." I do not say that lightly or as someone without anything to compare one show from another. In 33 years of seeing him perform over 50 times with 40 of those show pre-1990, there is only one show, 6 Jan. 1991 Minneapolis, MN USA Glam Slam, that I left and did not feel like I had just witnessed "The One."

And I'm glad to hear that about the Fox. It's funny how people percieve things differently. I'd like to read the article about him being upset about crowd participation if I can find it.

Early Show: His falsetto sounds better to my ears than it has in years. I am truly amazed at the range he still possesses. The "Do you want me, or Do you want him, Because I want you," was very powerful and I remember during the Purple Rain tour where he would have to throttle it down or in some cases where he just couldn't hit the high note from over use of his voice. This was not the case last night.

Ok, I have not been to 50 shows, probably around 25 or so, but if I had my choice to go to

any one of them over again (and I loved them all), I would choose the opening concert

for the "Musicology" tour in Reno. My Jaw dropped at that show. We gave Prince so much love

that he had tears in his eyes. I was high off that show for days (I still am, now that I'm thinking about it) anyone else here attend? what did you think?

That's so awesome! Yeah, on the March 30, 85 show he really struggled on that part.

That's one of the tours I really wish I could have seen. There is a part from that tour at the Staples Center when he buries his face in his hands when the crowd won't stop applauding.. he seemed so thankful. <3

Yes. I was off to the side and the bass was unbearable. It was much better in the center. Josh seemed worried and starting fussing with the soundboard and coming back and forth. It was in the danger zone and I am certain I had some ear damage from it, even with earplugs. My friend that I came with is a doctor and he was not thrilled. The second show was fine except that during the purple rain encore I was off to the side and it was too loud. But the second show was flawless. I like standing room only venues so much more.. forces people to stay on their feet and move! I always feel bad for artists when they're playing to a room of seated, stiff people.
