GLASGOW 13th march 1995, 19 years ago today... Well let me tell u this gig is nostalgic gold dust for me. I was 14 years old and my mum (god love her) allowed me two days off school so I could queue all day with my friends at the SECC. Never in my life had I endured a wait like it, feet sore, back sore arse dumb maybe arriving at 6am wasn't the brightest idea, it was a good few hours before anyone turned up lol No support. I loved it. No fucking about straight to business from the opening riff of endorphinemachine I knew then as much as I know now it was gonna be/was very special. Racing through a set full of unknown songs I couldn't have cared less, I was amazed. The One eyed Bass.... I didn't know a bass guitar could make a sound like that! The two nights were a complete blur and to those lucky enough to get into the garage for the the aftershow I will always be jealous! Sadly my 14year old boyish good looks resulted in rejection of entry lol just as well think I had double maths in the morning Time flies.....

Amen!
I mean: I remember that time, that feeling, the stuff we did to get tickets, to get there, to get in, etc. And the things that went on besides that: fanzines, b00tlegs, meetings ... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

A remarkable time, and at just 22 it all just went by in a blur...I can remember so little of it now. I recall speaking to a girl in the queue early on, and then hours later seeing her walk past again.. I didn't know her name so just shouted, "Hey!" at the top of my lungs.
Of course, this is all before even mobile phones so it was so hard to keep in touch with folk back then. I went to the Garage by myself as my friend kindly drove me to it but his contact lenses were drying out (allegedly) so he made a sharp exit. I didn't know any other Prince fans back then at all, and being around so many that night was amazing. Nineteen years ago...wow. "I'm much too hot to be cool"

Ahhh Tashbootlegs, ur getting me all sentimental reading this! It's funny when u get an event so prolific in ur life that u will never, ever forget the excitement & emotions that go along with it. These concerts being exactly that. Queuing from 8am, u must have been about 4 people in front of me, waiting all day & then THAT show. Ugggh, I'll still remember it when I'm an old lady sitting in a rocking chair! Ha ha To think im Now double the age I was at that SECC gig stupifys me! Peter told me how he remembers giving me the promo tape cuz I hadn't got one, & to think we'd all spend the day together again, so many years later! He's still a jammy git getting so far in the middle front at Manchester! Ha ha Tell him I says hello. And Scotsman1999, I don't need to tell u that u shoulda, coulda been with us at Manc. Where's unique on this thread? Lol Xx

I still have some of the "Gold" paper that was released at the end!
Looking back, I marginally preferred the 14th - probably the rarity value of A Case Of You and Love, Thy Will Be Done swinging it for me (although I think at the time I felt a bit cheated at the slightly shorter show).
Can't remember which of the two shows but, have to ask, did Mayte really flash her, erm, bits? My pal insisted she did. I was too busy looking at Prince!
My then girlfriend (who was driving me and my mates home) insisted we left the queue in the Garage after about an hour because she was cold (did it start to snow a little bit?) and had work the next day. The small town crew we were, weighed up the facts (no public transport, expensive taxis, being big girls blouses - even in our early 20s) and gave in to her demands!
(Contrast to 16 years later, when I walked around Dublin on my own for a couple of hours, post Malahide, hoping for an aftershow, headed into a club, before jumping on a night bus to the airport for the first flight home to Glasgow!)
I dumped the girlfriend about a year later.
The two events may not be entirely unrelated.
