I'm still on a high......

15th time I've seen him and right up there as THE best I've ever seen!

The guy rocked, was the funkiest I've ever seen him, in a real comical mood too..

Great to see Unique on the stage & the funky guy with the beard..........

Personal fave for me was Endorphinmachine, I had been hoping to hear that as I hadn't seen him perform it personally since I think the early 90's & heard that he performed it at SBE? OMG I was freaking out when I heard the opening of it.......

My Husband (non Prince fan) LOVED it, said the guy is a musical genius & you cannot begin to appreciate live music until you have seen Prince..........ah I love him even more now.....

Also thought he was coming back out at the end when he said we are taking a short break & we'll be back......I was like wow really? ha ha no such luck!

Don't ever play a big venue again Prince, despite my 15yr old daughter being absolutely gutted that the venues are over 18

It was well worth the 460 mile round trip & 9 hours on the road apart from the drunk twat next to me whose only move was the 'push pinapple' part from Agadoo no matter what the tempo of the song........lol

Just watched the clip on YT of Sat night so I'm posting with a lump in my throat. I need a helpline!

How horrible is it to have to go back to work today after such an epic experience on Saturday night. I want to say thank you to all the lovely Prince family that made the queuing for eleven hours (and I was number 11 in the queue too) bearable. I'm not sure whether any of you are Orgers but if you are - shout back. I'm the lanky Paul in the black jacket with greyish hair and bloodshot eyes (its a long story). Hi Bianca, Heather, Jasmine, the lovely Farah and MrGoodnight who ran the queue, the 2 security girls and all my other Purple Pals from that night.

Highlights for me were the DEAFENING roar when he first came out on stage, How Come You Don't Call Me when P was interacting with a girl in the crowd, Jay and the others dancing on stage, the facial expressions when there may have been the odd breakdown of communication with Donna (he was so relaxed that night), all his witticisms, when (I'm sure) he stared and smiled straight at me while I pointed and sang along "…play that funky music till you die…", and ALL THOSE SONGS!!!

Thank you to the Org for this forum and for creating this community of wonderful people xxx

Did you do the math?

How may people in KOKO? 1000? 2000?

Times what?

Still not so much as the quoted prices of USD 1.5 million for a show, probably in a larger arena. (10K? 15K people)

So if he actually is worrying about 6 figues then something is wrong.

I just meant they were planning to do 3 shows out if the evening with &70 per entry...hence the first 1500 were booted out to make way for another 1500 after 90 minutes. So instead of doing a 'full show' (like SBE and Manchester) for £105k they were looking to get £210k or, originally,£315k...hence the first showcwas the stripped back set that everyone gets as a minimum

....jings, I go to a lot of gigs, 90 minutes is a full show for most people (and half of them would be better if they were shorter!).

Hi, was that the drunk guy with the dark hair, white shirt, smelly armpits? Tried to push to the front but two girls blocked him physically and with a "FUCK...OFF"? wink The number of times he knocked me in the head. It was close to me having stern words followed by some form of alien death grip.

We also had to put up with smelly twat in the white shirt trying to barge through everyone, a lot of self control was required as I was on the verge of introducing my elbow to his face, also had to put up with "The Hair Bear Bunch" who were a couple in front of us with 5 feet of hair blocking everyone's view, munching each other's face off AND talking all the way through the gig, I despair sometimes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! although apart from these few exceptions the Manchester crowd were awesome.

Anyway after all of the moaning above this my eighth P gig starting with Lovesexy '88 all have been amazing but Saturday just can't be topped, words can't explain how legendary this gig was, if asked I bet even Prince will say it was pretty special, he pretty much wore everyone out by the end, sore back, feet but it hurt sooooo good.

The journey from Edinburgh via Newcastle and Liverpool was so worth it.

Reading all the reviews from Saturday looks like it was the night to be at, Im not too down hearted though Friday was hardly a let down biggrin Spent my first Price gig near the front in my home town could't ask for any more especially as I thought I was going to miss out on this tour again with the London shows being impossible to get to for me at short notice. Met few nice people in the process aswell which is always good.

.

Hope to make it to some more shows in the future if graces our shores again or even Europe, however I dont think any will live up to this weekends.

.

Hats off to anyone who went both nights as I spent all of Saturday/Sunday in bed suffering with a cold after being soaked!

No.......not him Ilo but I know EXACTLY who you mean......tall skinnyish guy, short curly brown hair, white shirt who was randomly staggering around & falling into people....had the pleasure of his company too! How unlucky, maybe I didn't see the sign that said 'Drunken twats area' .............I had to keep propping him up as he was falling into me.............no the Agadoo guy was some small guy..........I can drink like a fish but I'd rather actually remember seeing Prince & not some drunken haze the next day............all I can hope for it that he choked on his extra large kebab with chilli sauce that night lol............God, I hope he's not on here.........!!! ha ha

Personally I thought Sat was miles better than Friday, I just really didn't get much of Friday at all, and with Saturday Piano extras, that did it for me. Maybe after the Friday I got more used to the heavy rock versions of things and Prince going off on his solos etc, but hey, both nights were great.

Yeah I had the white shirt guy behind me with the 2 girls to my side, he was bouncing up and down like a idiot and I ended up leaning backwards to prop myself up against him, thankfully he moved a bit more left towards the end of the night.

Oh dear I think I encountered him too, he pushed me and my boyfriend aside. I tried to keep my ground but he was too big.

Probably a student at Manchester Met.

Agreed (not that i was on stage, sadly). The crowd was definitely less full of casuals and drunken oafs. Both incredible though, serious case of the blues this week.

Time to breathe a little extra life into this vibrant thread before it passes into folk lore!

.

Maybe I should have headed straight to the ticket-less queue when I arrived in Manc on the Friday – like many, I thought that without confirmation of the number available on the door it would be a hopeless dream to imagine getting in.

.

Much like the hapless dream I had later that nite – when I vaulted out of my bed upon reading ‘that’ tweet – and attempted to get into the aborted 2nd show!

.

Onto Saturday morn – and blissful sunshine – was that a promising sign of what was to come? You betcha!

.

The prospect of 7 hrs in the queue didn’t exactly rock my world beforehand – but I had my eye on the prize – and as it turns out: that queuing was an absolute blast with the time passing effortlessly - mainly due to the cool people I met who shared the Paisley cause! 45 mins in the wrong queue (ticket-less) – though I did get to chat to a very nice bro-sis combo (hope you guys had a blast, Jim n sis!) - throughout the day as I bobbed between both queues.

.

My hat (not that I wore one – though practically everything else I wore was purple– including my silk boxers wink) goes off to:

.

MikeyAddict (I was chatting to him AND reading his simultaneous posts on my moby – how .. surreal! And get off this thread - your wife needs you wink), Ash n Steve from Lichfield (we shoulda car-pooled confused), Karen from Liverpool (Ronnie Scotts vet! Told you it would be ONE show! cool), Baco-foil gal n Sports Relief Socks gal (Abigail and Charlotte) - oh – and a shout-out to my ‘last-minute-loo-relief-in-the-bush’ (I needed it!) buddy, Richard – our mock-architect arm gesticulations towards the student union in an attempt to disguise our primal urges at least garnered some cheers when we returned to face the aghast queue eek

.

Prince was my very first live gig experience – LoveSexy in 1988 – yeah, I know – that show is going to put most live acts in the shade from that point on!

.

I’ve seen Prince quite a few times – I’ve seen torrents of gigs in all .. and ladies & gentleman, we have a new wearer of the crown of ‘Best Ever Live Gig!’ cool

.

Dead centre stage 4 rows back .. the sight of Prince in peak form – a mere dozen feet away sure scorches the brain-box! Imagery to be recalled for the rest of one’s life biggrin The girls were also incredible - no wonder Prince is so invigorated on stage!

.

Thankfully they’ve posted the official vid outro to Let’s Go Crazy: with THAT squat pose – guitar jutting out – arms afloat ... oh my! Witness that in front of your eyes and it simply transcends words! I’ve had the clip pretty much on loop since – hearing the crowd roar its ecstatic adoration takes me RIGHT back to those wondrous 3+hrs … why, it's days later and I’m still savouring the purple glow I feel from having been drenched by such musical wizardry!

.

It's been a spectacular ride these last few weeks - so glad to have caught it ... and such a sublime slice at that!

.

Until next time cool

Did anyone hear prince cracking a joke about the guy with the beard after he had everyone on stage dancing to the new song "funk n roll" he says.... thanks to everyone for dancin...especially mumford and sons ... smile [Edited 2/23/14 0:28am]

Hi there Bob - lost u after we went through - did you get a good spot? I was totally squished! I heard the joke - funny.

Thanks for the coffee, it was really good of u - i'll have to get u one next time were queuing all day!

Hi again..yes ..had a great spot..feet were killing me..he was brilliant..as always..my wee pal ann collapsed near the front of the stage..the heat and the occasion got to her I think..she was ok after ten mins..came back and stood by me..it was good to meet you..hope you had a great time smile

Was she the lady attended by the paramedics on Saturday night? It's a small world. In work today a lady in my team was telling me that her husband who is a paramedic in Manchester had texted her on Saturday night to say he had just written a note to Prince. He had attended a lady at the Academy and Prince had asked for details of what had happened and how she was. I saw the paramedic in front of the barriers but obviously had no idea who he was.
