...... I'm just sick and tired of this guy taking the piss!

Concerts that people can't get to because you get little notice of the time and location!

Queing for hours in the worst weather the country has had in many a year!

Poor security!

Que jumping yobs!

Que jumping celebs!

No fixed pricing!

No presale tickets!

Guess where I'm playing tonight, tomorrow or next friggin Saturday attitude!

This guy has you all dangeling on a string and he's playing with you like puppets!

I hate to imagine whats gonna happen in Manchester.... a bunch of Londoners traveling North only for them to find the whole of the Man City and Man Utd squads have jumped the que, the Salford Bump Squad are jumping the que (and them f*ckers dont just carry loose change!) and all those stood with £10 in their hands are being turned away cos the price of entry has just gone up to £200

Yes I'm bitter.... Bitter cos I don't get a chance of a ticket like the local bum who lives round the corner who last heard Purple Rain in 1984 and thought it was "kinda OK".

But I'm mostly bitter cos after all the love we show this guy... he can't just throw a little bit back by being a little bit more considerate.

I'm a bigger fan of Prince than the last man and the next man...have been for 32years... but if he can treat his fans like shit...and put them in a serious chance of getting a black eye, pneumonia, death by drowing or something far worse then as far as seeing him play live.... and this is based on my decision and not his off the cuff - hit and run tactics... I won't be there!

How about some cheese with that whine? The entire idea is to create a buzz which worked. If only the biggest fans, like you claim that you are one of, came to these shows, it would defeat the entire reason for having them. If you don't like the way they are being put on, DON'T GO! Gee, that was simple. I'll bet most of the fans who did make it to the shows would totally disagree with your opinions. It sounds more like: I love Prince but…..I CAN'T GET INTO THE BLOODY SHOWS!

Yes it is a case I can't get into the bloody shows! Why can't I get into the shows? cos

A: ALL OF THE ABOVE.

That is my point... He's not catering for the true fans that have supported his career for 30+ years. Is he gonna win new fans over from this... a small percentage of that he has already. The thing is today... Kids (if thats what he's aiming these gigs at) aren't bothered about real music today... they are gulable fools who are manipulated by record moguls who want to make a quick buck off of a couple of young lads that have been conned into thinking they can sing on some pointless talent show.... and after the gig they will be back listening to the same old shit on radio 1.

Do you think Prince really want's to be in the same company as one direction etc on radio 1... does he really need anymore fans. He sold out the O2 arena for 21 nights..... thats almost half a million people!

Celebs like that DJ Grimey (who I have read has attended at least two shows) has a cheek going to any gigs (just cos of his status and because he can) yet all he does is sit playing a bunch of shit on the radio (see above) and is happy to do so! Playing the same shit day in and day out, and by doing so, he's promoting the 'non talent', thats putting real artists like Prince, Bowie etc etc out of the limelight.

If I were prince, and that dick had turned up at my gig I'd have shot the c*nt!

Anyway...what I'm trying to say is basically that the youth and part-time fans aint gonna be buying his CD's in 10 years time... it's fucking me, and fucking you and fucking everyone else who hangs out on prince.org Not some spotty twat who lives down the road from the latest hit-and-run location who happens to have the time to que up for hours on end! Not the ignorent bastard who's jumped the que just cos he can! Not the so called celebs who fancy a free fucking night out!

IT'S FUCKING US PEOPLE!

Yep - and if it sounds like sour grapes - then so be it.

I admire you blackbob for travelling from Glasgow and still not getting in, that is hardcore mate, but I'm fucked if I would do it. Maybe 20 years ago I might have.

And people please stop calling it a "Tour" until more cities have been played. Fuck me, blackbob has done more touring in the UK than Prince.

I'm not blaming Prince or his team, if that's the way they want to run things, they owe me nothing, even if I feel sometiems they do wink

But PurpleHippy is just venting their disappointment at waiting years for the guy to come to our shores, and missing out. Give the guy a break.

Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

It was not talking about record sales. I was talking about selling himself as an artist.

So far I would say probably 2,500 different people have seen him perform.

So, thats not really reaching out and creating a new audience is it

These gigs might be causing a media storm but what is the end result?

If nobody can get to see him and make a judgment then how is that good marketing ?

its great m,arketing because you are here having a fucking fit like a kid that you cant go

Ha. What he said ^.

Why are you assuming that the payoff has to be instant? Its clearly not about selling tickets for this tour.

The question for you is... why does he have to cater to 'true fans' of 30 years?

Have you, as a true fan, enjoyed previous tours? Yes. Is this one for you? No.

Is Prince allowed to try something new without running it by you? ......

Just suppose you buy a lottery ticket... and on saturday night your sat infront of the TV waiting for the draw. Then just before the results are drawn they announce that the numbers on your ticket haven't been put in the machine with the others and are excluded from the draw.... you'd be mighty pissed right!

Well.... thats the same fucking ball park!

Prince is the Lottery and I'm just one of the many fucking tickets that have been filling his lottery fund for years thats now in the dustbin because I've been excluded from the draw!

Do I have a god given right to be there for 30 years loyalty... no...of course not.... but I do expect a fare chance of being there..... yes I do..... as does everybody else!

Have I missed something...why were you excluded from this tour. It's been an absolute bitch for me too and there's no way I could drop everything to get down to London before any queue would be full.

You know what I did? Heard there was a gig at KOKO on the Sunday - got up at 3am, drove to London and stood in the freezing cold morning outside the venue from 7am for 11hours until they opened the doors. Would I do it again soon? No...I don't like the gamble on Price (there's your lottery), I don't like the fact show lengths are sometimes dramatically different....and I fucking ached like a bitch from being on my feet for probably 11.5 hours if a 12 hour day...but I did it.

Sure it's a small window of opportunity but Sunday was probably doable for most people as was Monday if you really wanted it.

Oh and Grimmy (who is indeed a knob) was invited by his manager who, I think the consensus is, seems to be enjoying her new found fame.

Again - Prince has played something like 40 concerts in London since the O2 run in 2007. Most of those were ticketed, advance-notice shows. Nevertheless, those of you in and around London have had about 40 chances to see a Prince concert.

I live in Houston, Texas. Prince came here in the summer of 2004 and hasn't been back to my city or my state since (except as guitarist for the one Tamar show in '06).

So the scorecard since 2007 reads:

40 concert opportunities for you

0 concert opportunities for me

It's pretty hard for me to feel sorry for you.

I think he's only been back here once since the O2 gigs 7 years ago and they was Hop Farm festival.

forcing fans to stand around for hours in the cold is not nice at all. i'm disappointed that prince's tour manager hasn't figured out that a "hit n run" format works best in the SUMMER TIME when fans don't have to risk their health to take in a concert. personally, even though i do love prince, i think i'd have to pass on paying to stand outside for ten hours then be crushed into a tiny venue with roudy drunks. matter of fact i'd pay to NOT have that experience sigh lol

lol been there, tried that. it's not just the cold, it's the standing for hours and hours in the wind and rain until all you want to do is sit down somewhere warm, rest yourself and have a snack but you can't because people are standing all around you, wanting your place in line, pushing and shoving you around and stepping on your feet. then, once you're in, the too loud music permanently damages your hearing while you can't see the stage because the place is smashed full of tall people who smell of booze who spill stuff on you because it's too crowded to avoid them. ah~! good times lol

Exactly. I just don't understand the victim mentality that some posters are exhibiting. You're an adult and you are able to make a conscious decision. Nobody is forcing you to attend a gig and endure the queue. Some of these comments are so far off the wall... it's worrying. People have no sense of perspective.

^ hey whoa, no criticism to you all intended. see how i put in the word 'personally' when describing my opinion on this issue? i'm just not one of the people in this world who likes standing in line for ten to twelve hours. i have other things to do with my time and personally, wouldn't tolerate the wait times being described by some folks. you are free to do what you want with your time. if the setup is good with you then fine. i don't discourage anyone from standing for hours in the cold to maybe gain admission to see a show smile good for you! lol

I hVe no problem with queuing at all, as I say, I queued 11hrs for KOKO on Sunday and I loved the queue, in a weird was it's with pride that I queued and it made the day. Admittedly prior to this gig is bed a bit annoyed that they'd gone to the trouble of calling it a tour, doing PR and the just saying "we're here now" but again that's sour grapes because it turns out I could have made the SBE gig after all.

My one and only gripe is the price of £70 at KOKO...not that it WAS £70 but that it wasn't comparable to the gigs so far. There's no way £70 for 90-100 minutes of show was comparable with the acoustic session or worth 7 times more than the SBE gig that lasted a good hour longer (as did the 2nd show the sane night)...they saw an opportunity with long queues and took it knowing people would not turn around and walk away after the long day especially once thru the door

What other reason was there for not telling people the price until they had literally crossed the threshold and were greeted with a cashbox?...they either didn't want a fuss like at SBE or his manager thought , with the acoustic set, they could move on to £70 per show...except of course Ronnie Scott's where it was back to £35

good for you! i respect your decision to exercise your personal judgment and do whatever it takes to see prince on this tour. i too am a fan, but not as dedicated as you are. he would not make money$$ off me this time, if i had to wait in line for ten to twelve hours. btw i have no clue what the bolded bits above mean, though. thank you.

good for you! i respect your decision to exercise your personal judgment and do whatever it takes to see prince on this tour. i too am a fan, but not as dedicated as you are. he would not make money$$ off me this time, if i had to wait in line for ten to twelve hours. btw i have no clue what the bolded bits above mean, though. thank you.

^ hey whoa, no criticism to you all intended. see how i put in the word 'personally' when describing my opinion on this issue? i'm just not one of the people in this world who likes standing in line for ten to twelve hours. i have other things to do with my time and personally, wouldn't tolerate the wait times being described by some folks. you are free to do what you want with your time. if the setup is good with you then fine. i don't discourage anyone from standing for hours in the cold to maybe gain admission to see a show smile good for you! lol

hello,i'm a long time looker into this site.I've never commented on anything on the net, ever, but feel the need to now. I love Prince. Prince is near enough a demi god. This site exists because of Prince. I'm astonished by the negativity towards this hit and run tour by some Prince fans. I have read most of the threads whilst Prince has been in London. I think my good fellow, this fine gentleman is saying that his purse is not blessed with the weight of much coinage,he does not own a stately home and, although dwells within the borders of the Royal City of Bath, his abode is but a humble water vessel and yet he managed to see Prince in the great capital.

So stop your fucking whining that London is too difficult and expensive to get to.

What i have loved about reading this for last few weeks is the complete spectrum of views from people who have seen the same gigs. Penguin, I went to the EB shows, the 2nd Kings Place set and both Koko and i have to say, the small gig at Kings Place was the one that i would say left me feeling a little underwhelmed. Only because it was only 65 mins long and i'm a greedy Prince pig who wants a big feast of his music every time. Not sure if you were at Kings place but in my opinion, Koko beat it hands down for me because i walked away with my hunger(greed) well and truly sated. Kings Place wasn't worth the money he charged just to say you were there. No point in being there if it wasn't a great set is there? Anyway ,like i said, we all enjoy different gigs for different reasons which is i guess what makes this site such a good read.

I'm not sure i understand the beef over the price from some. The gigs prior to Koko he'd charged between 10 and 70, so it was reasonable to expect it would be in that range. If you couldn't afford both ends of that spectrum then queuing was always going to be a gamble that may not pay off, but it's a gamble that everyone took off their own back. I paid a pound a minute on friday night so i expected 70 quid. But this was Prince at Koko, he is worth that all day long for 90 mins, I don't see how he should be expected to give it away. It's his job.

ppenguin,You're online.Quite addictive this.Prince is bloody good isn't he?This thread is i love Prince but....Well i love Prince but.....He needs horns doesn't he?Having two lead guitarists with similar tones to their guitars made the solos to every track merge. After a while it needed something more.horns.Or mavbe the drummer could've switched to electronic drums for the 80's vibe for 3 or 4 tracks.it'd open up scope for lots more of his back catalogue with those two extra things.Still,it was blimmin good.Ridiculously good
