Regarding the legalised touts, this may be worth a try.

Right, my friend and I are gonna leave for Manchester tonight and chance it out at the door! Anyone else gonna do this? Won't get there until about 10,11am as we are travelling from Scotland.

I am beyond thrilled that I will get to see both my Dad and my Cousin witness their first Prince gig on Friday!

My Dad has never been a funk fan, but his interest in prince has grown over the years as he has witnessed my growing enthusiasm. He saw Hendrix live before Hendrix was even famous, so given the recent setlists I am confident that this current setup with 3EG is gonna blow his mind...

My Cousin loves his guitarists and has seen some of the best Rock Bands over the years...now finally he will see the best! He also runs a Drum shop... I can't wait to see what he thinks of Hannah! cool

Haha! Well, it's just that we've never travelled to Manchester before, so hoping not to get too lost! Such anticipation for this night! Hoping there won't be too much rukus in the queue. 24 hours from now we hope to have had our first experience of the Purple Yoda! Pray it comes true! smile

On Facebook:

@JayCochrane1983 put on Twitter he's the first fan queuing at Manchester Academy! Fair play! Only an 18 hour wait....

He's also done unofficial wristbands, love it.

it wouldn't be a Prince show without drama...

I bought the tickets through seatwave - in the mad feeding frenzy that was Weds night...because I'm a lifelong fan, and am desperate to see one of these Manchester shows.
I also Orgnoted a couple of people here first who said they had spares here, but nothing was possible.
When Seatwave e-mailed to say that we'd be refused entry I felt really gutted, and this isn't a black and white case of right and wrong.
Prince's latest crusade is about tickets being re-sold...which is unfortunate as most members of the general public now act as touts for high paying gigs...and we also have to acknowledge that many of his fans have bought in bulk to distribute to other Prince fans a lot of the time!!!! No issue with that btw.
How can they enforce this across 2.5k people is a mystery to me, and what will then happen to all of the tickets....will the venue be half empty. I feel like I'm being penalised for trying to get in...I live hundreds of miles away, I can't Q up and don't know anybody who will be Qing up.
Have just spoken to Seatwave who say they sympathise, and that some people have already started accepting refunds. I don't care about the money, I only care about getting in to the show...am really sad about the whole scenario.
Can anyone help / suggest anything? T

I honestly don't see them implementing the checks on entry...it'll take too long.

Probably more of a scare tactic.

I've only once had to provide ID and cc details, and that was because the barcode wouldn't scan properly.

Regarding the whole 2nd show farce/confusion. It all seems so unneccessary. If he just played one decent length gig on every date, there would be no negativity, only euphoria and rave reviews. He is leaving himself open to criticism with no good reason.

I feel so bad for those that rocked up for a second gig last night only to be shafted. Delighted that those in the first gig got a great gig but , really, he needs to be ensuring everyone gets the same beautiful experience as those at SBE and Koko 2 and Ronnies etc.

The other thing that comes out of this is the surprise of the lack of demand in Manchester. I am quite surprised that there weren't more people turning up for the second concert( kind of wish i'd driven up from London yesterday).

Anyway, would love to hear from ThePartyman on how his Dad found it. Sounds like he picked a hell of a gig to see the great man for the first time.

Agree with all of that. Just do frikkin advance tix and proper ID checks before you in. Make sure people know this before they buy online to stop touts. Kiran if you're reading this remember most of his fans have a family now and can't run around like idiots when a gig is announced as much as they would love to. Use your head love.

Woke at 5am to drive 40 miles to get a rail replacement coach from Taunton to Bristol. Now on train to Manchester. After SBE, Koko x2, Ronnie Scott's first show I thought that was enough but here I am. All excited again & feel like a 15 year old. Only P does this to me. This tour has been exciting, dramatic & frustrating in equal measure!! Also i've reconnected with purple friends old & new & we all feel energised again. Much love to Rosie, Julie, Alison & orgers Onlymatt & Kangafunk. Also was cool to spend a very long day with Unique in the queue for Ronnie Scott's where P was 6 feet from us!! I'll die a happy man now.

Hi all, this is my first post, I am a big fan, got to the first Koko show from the isle of wight (10am ferry, 3 hour drive, 5 hours in queue, 1.45 hours of genius with view of stage (on the steps behind the mixing desk, so couldn't see the piano/keyboard but everything else), 3 hours drive, just got the midnight ferry home.

I knew about electric ballroom but didn't go (by the time I got home from work, the queue was huge, when they announced the second show it was too late).

For SBE I got as far as walking to get the ferry, but bottled it as my back was playing up, and I couldn't face standing in the queue. (I bought a fishing chair for the queue at Koko) it was my 7th prince gig, but first in a small venue.

I can see why most artist play arena’s with months notice, this tour is a logistical nightmare. I feel for the guys who feel they got short changed last night. some who saw the gig I saw may feel the same as the second Koko gig was longer, and it seems that they are making the rules up as they go along, but this is pretty unprecedented after all.

Add in the online debacle (sold out in seconds, on eBay seconds later) and it's a whole different ball game, to be fair I've been one of those shouting for a ticketed brixton academy gig (to take the risk/queue out) and the same would happen, and most would be wondering if they could afford/trust the sell-ons.

I met some great people in the queue, Mark and Isha from the other island (Sheppey) and Chris and Alex from Southampton, and the chair did the trick, although my back did go as I left Koko's

I am still checking out the forum and twitter, really wanting to know what happened to those who bought sell-on's last night, and will try and get tickets for any bigger london shows, as I have gone to the previous 3 gig with the other half, and feel she is missing out.

with respect, and in MHO the only reason Koko 2 happened was because its all organic, so that doesnt really make sense (from a most satified fan, who queue for 5 hours for Koko 1). if enough had come last night you probably weould have got would have got gig 2, and the 1st gig would have been shorter as in Koko's

Yeah Fair enough, But if there was no Koko 2 ,then Koko 1 would have been awesome.

Hey, it's his perogative how many shows he does but he loses more (in terms of pr) than he wins by messing people around. Just do one great gig and then there is never negative press. Out of the five i've seen, Kings Place 2 was the worst because it was ad-hoc and practically half a gig.
