If they do Brixton, I hope its 24 hours notice at least.

It was interesting to see how things went at Koko, with some notice, the show on a Sunday, and the weather being OK. But that only drummed up around 1,200 by about 5:30.

If that's any indication, then it should hopefully be no problem getting in to Brixton by getting over there nice and early, ie around lunchtime / early afternoon.

Tout side is getting easier to combat some bands who do small special gigs have only being allowing people in who have the card the tickets we're bought with on them.

With at least 2 days notice I can't see it being a issue loads of people like to just turn up just before the main act starts.

Unique: Whats ur prediction for date of Brixton?

well its tuesday, tomorrow is brit awards 19th, manchester is fri/sat 21/22, brixton is free from sunday 23 till the end of the month bar wed 26 the nme awards. to give both a break to band and logistics for transportation etc, sunday 23 is out, thursday 25 is out, so mon/tue 24/25, is a possibility, likewise 27/28. i'd say mon 24 is less likely to give a real break after travelling, dunno how tue sits with nme award setup, likewise thu with nme cleanup, and dunno if the band will be around after friday or leaving at the weekend. but thats 4 days narrowed down, and 2 are more likely than others, the tuesday or thursday

its 4921 capacity. unticketed, they could do £70 on the door and see another koko, in that less than 3000 turn up (remember loads from the first gig went to the second), or it could be a final £10 to try and fill the place last minute, cash on doors to get in quick. as plenty of space for all there should be no crazy line business. they could keep the upstairs closed if there isn't so many in line, and open it if the line gets to a reasonable stage, like what they did at indigo2 for aftershows (upstairs was closed half the time)

Oh man, u haven't factored in The Barrowlands Ballroom, Glasgow yet! wink

Bit apprehensive about Brixton. If enough is made about it and it will be, it will be the most rowdy, unpredictable crowd and anything could happen.Anything could happen anywhere obviously but jeezus, Someone was shot at a Nas Concert.I'm just saying, Brixton is the most dangerous of all the venues thus far and combine that with shoddy ticketing and badly organised queues. It could be a disaster to be involed with.

'Tis off putting...there are some crazy folks out there. Chuck alcohol into the mix and things can get hairy. I've seen punch-ups at all sorts of gigs (fight broke out in front of us at a Coldplay gig during Fix You once!) so its possible anywhere. It only takes one or a small group of a*seholes to wind everyone up and then things can go south quickly. Fingers crossed, only decent folk turn up to remaining gigs, and the freeloading celebs stay away!!

I joined the queue at 6pm, and got into the second show, the place was packed by the time I got in. So on the basis Koko holds 1400, that would mean that around 2100 had queued by 6pm (1400 in the first show and at least 700 ahead of me in the queue for the second show, but probably a lot more).

Didn't like the way 1400 people's sweat appeared to be dripping off the ceiling. Unpleasant. The show however was brilliant, and it well and truly provided a much needed fix.

Oh my God...fighting at a Coldplay concert (I suppose youve got do something to keep youself awake), and guns at a U.S. rappers concert in south London. Who could have imagined it?
Somehow I think that even in south London, Prince fans will refrain from bringing their guns. Isnt Prince more about peace, love and understanding when looking at the big picture - rather than "smaking his bitch up" or whatever they shout about?
ps. This is mostly sarcasm (I notice that some people on this site have difficulties with that sometimes). Saw the Clash in Brixton, , with only minimal casualties!
Peace and Love.

Prince is diverse and respected in hip hop grime rap cultures so it will attract alot of crews to the area.In my opinion any way.

Haha, fair enough! biggrin It was the Mylo Xyloto tour and it was impossible not to be entertained by those shows. Couldn't believe it though...I tapped one of them on the shoulder and said "f*cking seriously?...at a Coldplay show?". Was totally lost on him.

OK, point taken, but lets look on the bright side...Its Prince and it would be fantastic. its a good venue, and I certainly wouldnt let the thought (or even remote possibility) that something bad might happen, put me off going there. After-all, bad things happen even at Coldplay concerts.

Odd that there's only been a cursory mention on here that Prince has played Brixton before...

...so given that he has played there before and a lot of people on this site were probably there, I just don't get the crime vibe. Doesn't fit the Prince demographic.

V random...also if Prince plays there am sure a lot of people will get to see him!

And stop bashing Brixton. There are good and bad people everywhere, don't believe everything you read or hear. Some of what is written here sounds uninformed.

If it happened it would be great, as it was the last time...but given that the onus on this tour so far is about guaranteeing sell outs and hype we maybe shouldn't get hopes up too high.

All will be revealed...at short notice... ;o)

I was at Brixton'98. Travelled down from up North, Great show, great vibe. While we were queuing Mr Hayes leaned out of an upstairs window and chatted to us. That was laid back. Had a ticket in my pocket though!

Great venue!

Answer me this, have you ever been to Brixton? That place is mostly now like a latte drinking, young urban professional, yummy mummy playground compared to what it was years ago. So yeah, stop scaremongering. Some parts are still dodgy but making brixton sound like a south american crime ridden favela is a bit much aint it ? Calm down my dear.

The band said they wanted to play there but no date yet. I'm guessing they wouldn't be in touch with the Academy until they had a date, so it's not surprising they know nothing yet. And even if they did know, would they tell us?

Hmmm. Wouldn't it be ace if Prince got up and jammed with Nile Rodgers and Pharell Williams tonight...

Single seats seem to be popping up sporadically during the day. Last minute returns I suppose. Just had the option of one in the penultimate row in block 416!
