IS ME IN ATTENDANCE sad

'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

As much as I Love the 3eyegirl rock sound, & hearing so many of my favourite songs live, I have 2 concede that I'm definitely more a fan of the NPG sound. Yes I love their brand of funk'n'roll but it's just not setting my heart on fire the way Prince's NPG songs do. Just being completely honest. I personally prefer Prince doing more funk & soul songs. And I think if it were an NPG show, with a number of 3rdeyegirl songs included, I'd b on cloud 9. As it is, I don't feel inspired enough 2 travel & wait in the cold & wet for 12 plus hours. Only my opinion shrug

I have to agree, I've now seen 2 full 3rd eye shows which were awesome but I was listening to an NPG Aftershow this afternoon from London 07 and I realised how much I miss the FUNK. Hoping for some big NPG shows later in the year perhaps with 3rd eye in the mix too... I'm in love with Hannah but I take a show with John Blackwell or Michael B over her any day of the week... Sorry!!

Completely agree with all of this. Prince is a great player, and hearing a good 2 hours of him blazing on guitar is, of course, awesome.. but I too miss the funk.

Prince has never had just ONE sound. The rock stuff is great when mixed in with funk, soul, pop, hip-hop, power ballads, etc. On it's own, it falls a bit flat for me. Not to mention that the new 3rdEye stuff is all a bit.. lame confused

Of course, being 55 and a Jehovas Witness, he ain't as 'edgy' as he used to be.. but that works fine when he's doing the funk and soul stuff. Rock N' Roll, though? It needs more grit.. more balls. The 3rdEye stuff is just a bit bleh. Too safe, too soft.

And yes, John Blackwell over Hannah ANY day. Hannah's a real good player, and not bad on the eyes wink but she doesn't come close to JB. Same with Donna.. another great player, but she doesn't seem to 'get' the funk. I don't feel as much groove in her playing. And she still can't play that Bambi lick right lol

An NPG show with a 3rdEye set in the middle a la the Mohegan Sun shows would be PERFECT. I'm hoping for that once he has completed this promotional run of guerilla gigs for the new album.

Ah! Please don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the new songs from 3rdeyegirl & went totally mental when I was front row at EB when I heard Fixurlifeup!! It was superb! Wish I had heard Screwdriver cuz I bloody love that song too. It's just that I love these songs mixed up with more NPG funk sound! lol I'm so twisted! Probably cuz that's how my playlists go, a bit 3rdeye, & bit NPG & so on. The Mohegan Sun shows woulda been perfect for my taste. Yes I lurve P rocking it out on guitar, but It only hits the spot when a show has lotsa funk/soul Prince included too. Last night at Ronnie Scott's sounded like an immense balance of rock & funk & soul. Wish I had astral travelled when I was fast asleep! Ha ha

They pretty much mixed it up at Mohegan Sun in Dec but they also had a percussionist which gave a couple of tunes that 80's DC Go Go beat which was cool. I've never heard that at a Prince show before. At that show though we wanted to hear a little more guitar but overall it was a fantastic show. The only part I'm not into at the NPG shows is Shelby J, especially when she sings lead on 70's covers. I'm there to see Prince do his songs, not her singing other people's songs. I've seen NPG so many times that these shows would be a change of pace if he ever brough 3rdEyeGirl to NYC. And yes, I'll take John Blackwell over just about any drummer!

A 3rd Eye Girl concert with a sizeable Prince on piano set, singing the likes of Adore, How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore, Diamonds & Pearls, etc... pretty much the Shepherd's Bush concert, would be perfect for me.

For me this tour is missing the new material. I look at the setlist each night and its all old hits still. For a man who says "i don't look back" in every interview now he sure does play alot of old material. I was really hoping the new band would mean finally playing new material but I guess not. New material to PRince I guess is just old songs played a new way. I really wish he would play 80 to 90% new material and 10-20% old stuff. Maybe it will change if they ever release an album as a band but probably not. I want to hear the 3rdeyegirl material not them play the NPG and Revolution material but I guess I am in the minority there.

I doubt you're in a minority here, I'm with you. At a show though we're definitely the minority and that's who he's playing too.
