The problem may be the M6 on Friday night, between 17 and 19 usually gets a tad busy. To get to the centre it may be better to go via Altrincham but you'll have to judge that by weight of traffic.

And length of venue queue! Cheers.

just org noted a few of u with my mobile. Suspect Friday might be case of hitting the queues early as the hype in the N. West is building. Suspect Saturday will be a great time to meet & have a brekkie beer!!! Great suggestion by Mr. Goldfish on the venue next to Albert Hall - pary that some venue news will leak out this week!

This hit & run tour is so hit & miss for the fans, it's hard to know what tactic to take. Living in the North West I was planning to queue both Friday & Saturday from before lunch as no way want to miss out. But seeing what has been announced for Koko today- 3 shows - not so sure. Don't really want to q for 6 hours to be thrown out after an hour to let in late arrivals. Not complaining just in a dilemma.

hi, if u live in the n.west it has to be worth a punt + the hardcore fans are mostly great to chat & hang out with. As Nike would say ..'just do it'!

Oh we will definitely be going but it's what time to go. Also I am nervous about getting caught up in any pushing & shoving which might start nearer to the front of the q. Would be great to meet up with some from the Org. Will be keeping an eye on this thread and decide nearer to Friday.

its far from certain. its the venue touting for prince to play there. as manc was announced with dates they obviously have a venue booked so its not there

Logical thinking. wink

Confusing though. I'm hoping we know where slightly in advance.

I'm thinking over tactics myself. Friday won't happen for me as I'm working while 8pm and had already tried to book it off with no success. Thinking of travelling into Manchester Saturday afternoon with friends, wandering around and waiting for the tweet. Plus I've been meaning to visit the Brewdog bar for ages.

I've set my phone to receive an alert every time 3rdeyegirl tweets [which will no doubt get very annoying this week]. Only problem is I don't get paid while the week after so am dependent on the assistance of friends. Oh, and I don't live in Huddersfield anymore, now Hebden Bridge so very dependent on friends for a lift home. Luckily, I know a lot of people round here who would take no persuasion...

nah, i honestly think that it will be O.K. Personally I'd aim to hit town at c10am , grab a drink, chill & see what happens etc. As manchester is so compact it's easy enough to hot foot it to a venue.

I am in london but cannot go, but that could change at a moments notice. However, I cannot complain, I was at EB and SBE. I am really glad he is doing some gigs further up the country. The ones in Manchester should be awesome. Just when you think you have seen every trick Prince has done, he pulls something out like the 3 gigs in KoKo. Best of luck getting to see the gigs up north...

Locals! Help required.

If I was coming to Manchester by car on friday night (Via M6), would you recommend driving all the way in or stopping at somewhere like Altringham and getting the metro in and out?

It depends, Altrincham is ok if your staying over, you might pay a little more than you would for a travelodge in the city centre, but then you have the hassle of parking fee's and things.

If your planning Altrincham, there is Cresta court, Mercure and a Premier inn are around and not too far from the Metro stop/train station. Metro takes around 35-40 mins into the centre of manchester or usually plenty of black cabs but traffic into town is bad sometimes trough trafford.

I'd recommending going down M62, then M602 to Salford Quays, there is plenty of parking at the Lowry Shopping centre (has a VUE cinema so is open late), your about 5 mins from the city centre by tram, and if you stay late in town, its not far by cab to get back compared to getting to Altrincham. Man Utd are away from home this weekend, so no trouble with Football traffic.

There are also quite a few hotels on Salford Quays/in the area, nice area with the BBC development, so no worries about parking.

You never know, he may even play the Lowry Theatre ..... the main lyric theatre is free Friday, Saturday & Sunday, I doubt it as its all seated, I live 5 mins away so would be awesome and a great gig.

Nice to hear from you Daned (been awhile!). I'm travelling back on the Airport train. I'm pretty skint myself, went down London last week (no gig!). Got a holiday to pay for this month too. It's all a bit tits to be honest.

I wish he was coming the week after.

Hi all, all being well I will be going in to work and booking Friday off in the hope I can head to Manchester from N Wales on Friday morning. I have no idea where to head to although I notice the suggestion on this thread that Deansgate seems a fair bet. I can't stay over in Manchester due to commitments on Saturday but could stay for a late show if necessary. This means I will need to park the car and be able to get back to it later in the evening/early morning and it not be stuck in a car park. Any assistance very much appreciated, including an org meet similar to sept 21st 07 etc.

Loads of NCP carparks in manchester, there is one right on deansgate at the back of Kendals which might be the safest bet not sure of the prices though.

Hi everyone smile I'm both excited as anything but im also reeeeally nervous about this, haha. I'm a total newfag to hit n run shows, so yeah...

I live in Bolton so Manchester is like half an hour a train journey away....what time do you guys think I should head off to the venue when its announced?

(p.s i seiously hope it isnt the warehouse project because literally everyone I know who's been there has had something valuable stolen. It's a goldmine for pickpockets. If it does end up being there, make sure you keep your valuables safe).

If I manage to make it (fingers crossed) I'm looking forward to meeting some hardcore Prince fans from the org. lol

Apollo is one of the best venues in Town seen a few good shows there The Prodigy being my personal favorite, the sound inside is brilliant, but Rudimental have it booked both nights sad
