BALLROOM VS EMPIRE

I've been struggling to decide on which my favourite gig was... I went to the late show at the ballroom and it was absolutely incredible, so grungy in there and felt incredible... On the other hand SBE was a longer set and I really enjoyed watching the whole stage as I was sat in the L2 balcony (would have preferred to be downstairs "where the party was at".

Ballroom:
+ sampler set was the best I've EVER heard
+ The max was OFF THE HOOK
- no endorphin machine/piano section

Empire:
+ Dream set list
+ 2 hours 40 mins
- sound not as good, crazy loud and sounded like a speaker had blown on the left during the sampler set

I can't decide but leaning towards Ballroom over all, can't get over how good the max was... Need boots of both these show SO BAD!!

If you went to both, which one wins?

I didn't go to both, and in fact I got ot see the first Ballroom show, whcih was shorter.

Looking at the setlist, no contest - Empire all the way. Damn, I so could have gone to this if I had know...

I realise not many people were lucky to go to both but so many people are saying the empire was the best gig ever and I really wouldn't put it at the top of my list..although was mega. The ballroom was pretty amazing. Think I will go or ballroom... I need another fix!

Great post Aiden, I was thinking of posting the same comparsion!!

Out of the 2 shows to I'd have to say the Electric Ballroom was, well, electric - and the best! I also thought the Max was totally off the hook and the slow bass was to die for - after queing in the rain since 1.00pm I was knackered but found myself having to dance - the sample set was killer and when he went into when doves cry the bar staff even went mad...from there 'I would die 4 U' looked like the scene from 1st avenue - it was trully incredible. Sound was much better too. The tempo, indie (young) crowd and feel of this gig made it one of the best I've ever seen (seen him regularly since '88)...

SBE was totally amazing too (obviously the kid had to be in rare form when GC was in da house), but I have to agree with the orger 'James' who said that tracks from C+D aren't really his best material (although his guitar shredding redeems any track). Highlights: Forever in my life, Something in the water, sampler set inc. beautiful ones, adore and HCUDCMA...

2 amazing gigs, privileged to be at both - EB 2nd show wins!

EB was incredible: 9.9 out of 10

SBE was simply the best concert/gig/aftershow I was ever at: 11 out of 10

Alone the reaction of people leaving the SBE signified that they had witnessed something very special, it was one of those collective "WTF" moments...

I hope there are more to come.

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Both were great, and on paper, EB should win. But for me, it was SBE all the way. The kid was in rare form.

Now trying to Weigh them both up against Indigo2 18th August 2007, the "Hat" aftershow.. And also One Nite Alone in Manchester was insane, I had such good seats.

Wish I had been downstairs for SBE but only quequed for about half an hour so just lucky as all hell to get in.. The more you see the more you want/ The gigs are as addictive as the music!

Indigo2 18th August 2007 - That was the best day/night of my life. Many thanks to the guy whose wife was ill and gave me 2 tickets for the aftershow and wouldn't take any money. It still brings a tear to my eye!
