Yeah, you don't want to look like Rambo. Not cool cool

I do wonder what you look like though. I could be standing next to you at a Prince concert and wouldn't know it was you. I don't recall seeing you in 2007 either, I didn't take you up on your offer to sit on your shoulders at the 21st September Indigo2 gig, remember?!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to meet you all on the last night, but my meeting over ran. I had a quick beer with TheEnglishGent on arrival as everyone else had gone in. Aftershow would have been fun. We should all put our pictures up here so we know who to look for at the next gig. As for the aftershow offer, would have been fine. Which way did I suggest facing?? lol

I just tried to save mine as an avatar on the left but the only headshot pic I have is 26K and the maximum is 15K. How do I make it smaller? Every single pic I have is bigger than 15K!

You should be able to compress it to a smaller size using Microsoft Office Picture Manager...just click "edit" then "compress"...

Just a wild thought and if it starts as a rumour I want the credit.

The Brits is on this month, hopefully these are all warm up gigs so he can announce his new group in style on TV and then sell out some big arenas at the end the month.

3EG will not sell out Arenas...full stop

Good Lord do u really think the average punter gives a f★★k about who his backing band are? ??
Most are not that aware of the Rev or NPG They just wanna see PRINCE perform his hits.
When he plays arenas, guess what?!.. there aint 15000 orgers in attendence its casual fans with people who have been dragged along. Its all about PRINCE I asked BST about hyde park a few weeks ago and they said they couldnt deny or confirm, just said they will be announcing 4 more shows. So i think it will happen and he will sell it out in no time.

Prince can sell out arenas if he wants to sell out arenas. He had little difficulty selling out the O2 arena for 21 nights in 2007 and he'd have little difficulty now.

However, larger venues require better notice and mean playing more hits. Shepherd's Bush on Sunday was not only the best Prince gig I've ever seen (and I've seen many), but the greatest gig I've ever witnessed by anyone. I'd much rather Prince continue to perform songs he is most passionate about and is emotionally connected to. He seems completely energised and is on blazing form.

Because the tickets were £31.21..do we have to go over this again?

Prince ISN'T playing his hits on this mini-tour...there is no Kiss...Raspberry Beret...Purple Rain (in it's full form)...look what happened on Sunday..when people were duped into believing the ticket price they kept away only filling the place out when it was announced they were £10.

There needs to be a concert thread of "Who's Who" for the hit and run shows. Maybe we've all been next to other and didn't realise!

Well, I'll be taking the plunge later in the week. Going from the north-east to London on the train on Friday, leaving the following Thursday morning. Six days and nights for something to be on that's attemptable. Fingers crossed! And good luck to anyone else making these far-flung raids into London in hope of a show. Or indeed, people around the area who just want to see a show! Definitely bringing a guitar though as any day where there isn't a show has nothing else on I'd want to see and the touristy side of it, besides the expense, will probably be a cold washout. Hope it'll all be worth it and it can all be a big party where everyone except the touts gets invited!

Yes, but he doesn't play his hits with 3rdEyeGirl, that's the problem. He doesn't, and can't, play any of his best known tunes (especially the ones best known here) with 3rdEyeGirl. Stuff from Purple Rain, 1999, Little Red Corvette, Kiss, Raspberry Beret, Cream, U Got The Look, SOTT, Diamonds & Pearls, Most Beautiful Girl, etc.. THOSE are the songs that an arena crowd want to hear. He can't do any of those with 3rdEye, at least not without completely reworking them, and they don't wanna hear those either.

As Prince said.. "This is a new band, people are getting something new." - The masses don't give a f★★k about new Prince, they want classic Prince. 3rdEye work brilliantly in small clubs, but for arenas, it would have to be the NPG.

I agree to some extent, only he did play Purple Rain and if I'm not wrong, SOTT. He also had a piano set which means he can play Purple Rain, Diamonds & Pearls, Raspberry Baret and... most of his hits really. For instance, he could play the version of Litter Red Corvette he did at Montreux 2009. So if he wanted to - 3rd Eye Girl could do these songs.

Just got back from two days of Prince hunting in London. After the reviews and success of Sunday's show I honestly felt there was going be another night at Shepherd's Bush, so after many hours of 'umming and ahhing' I made the decision to travel down to London from Liverpool Monday morning with a friend from Leeds. We arrived at Shepherd's Bush Empire around 12:40 midday to find 2 fans already standing outside the venue in the hope they would be the first in line for the show. We got talking and after about half an hour of sitting outside a man rode up on a bike who claimed to work at SBE. He told us that the vans carrying P's equipment turned up at 8 o'clock in the morning on Sunday to set up for that evenings show, so the fact no such equipment was here by now pretty much confirmed he wasn't playing today. He also said that himself and staff were not on call for that day. He seemed genuine and helpful so we took his advice and went to check out some other possible venues.

Upon approaching the Hammersmith Apollo we saw equipment vans outside parked outside and security gaurds setting up queuing rails so, excitedly, we asked the security what they were setting up for only to find it was for The Britain's Got Talent auditions taking place this week (I then remembered that I actually already that after reading it on here a few days ago!). There was actually around 10-15 people outside the the Apollo at one point, all there in hope of a Prince show. One of the guys there had taken a picture of the equipment vans at Sundays show; John Henry's Ltd is what Prince is using to lug his stuff around whilst he's here. We literally had nothing better to do than to travel from Hammersmith to John Henry's in Brewery Road and see what we could find. Parked outside were the vans used for the Shep' Bush show and one of them was pulling off! We asked the driver if it was anything to do with Prince, to which we recieved the response 'Yeah, he's in the back' lol In a last ditch effort we went inside John Henry's. In the hallway they have a picture of Prince which you can see below:

[img:$uid]http://s8.postimg.org/m7w232dz5/IMG_3055.jpg[/img:$uid]

The reception obviously didn't give us any info although she did say they get the call on the day of the show and have to leave as quick as possible to deliver his gear. We'd exhausted all possible avenues so me, my friend and the cool people we'd met that day went for something to eat and drink in Camden not far from the Electric Ballroom. We stayed in a hotel and awoke Tuesday to no announcments. We heard the rumour of Shepherd's Bush after that DJ mentioned it - checked it out but the place was dead. One of the guys we'd met the day before lives extremely close to John Henry's so he went there again and seen a van/lorry being loaded with equipment and a large Mercedes with tinted windows parked outside. He aked the driver for info but was told he wasn't picking anyone up and the only person inside John Henry's was a guitar tech fixing an amp.

Anyway, it was a fun two days in London and I met some nice people who shared a love for Prince. Of course I'm gutted I didn't get to see Prince live (if the plays on Wednesday I will go insane! lol) and I'm finding it hard to justify the money and time I've wasted but hey ho. If he had of played Monday and I'd decided against heading down I would have felt worse than I do right now!

Its dedication like that that deserve a gig!

SOTT was part of the sampler set, which is cool when 3rdEye join in. Purple Rain was part of the piano set, which is nice to hear as something different, but all the songs in the piano set (barring How Come U Don't Call Me) are reworkings/rearrangements. Purple Rain without that guitar solo is sorta pointless, in my opinion lol

It's nice to hear a few different versions every now and then, but he can't play those songs in any recognisable way without the NPG.

For example, Robert Plant used to play a few Led Zep songs with his Band Of Joy, but reworked and reimagined for that band (Folky. i.e. - Slowed down, new key, lacking guitar riffs and full of mandolin and violin) - which is really cool to hear.. but an arena full of Led Zep fans wouldn't wanna hear that, they'd wanna hear them played 'properly'. A piano-only version of Stairway would NOT go down well lol

With that sentence you prbably mean ths tuff we have heard too many times.

I am glad he does a show with just a tad less hit material.

And if you know his sentence:

I got too many hits

Then you know he cannot easily play most of his hits.

What a story! This makes me feel extremely fortunate that I have managed to see P and 3EG... You tried so hard and it's just bad luck that he had a couple of days off. I hope one of his team reads your story and send you some comp tickets. I suppose you've gotta compare those days spent in London to normal hum-drum days at home and think even though it wasn't what you'd hoped for it was still a little adventure.

I do t know London too well for parking so I think I'm going for a safe haven and the tube wherever. Usually park at Stanmore and tube but the car park will be rammed. At least the Westfield is easy to get to an I know how many spaces there are....3083 now incase your wondering

Right, I'm back. Deliberately avoided this thread yesterday because I already had to attend the show of the year and Prince couldn't get in the way of that. What was this amazing show? Eldest son's school play, he even had a speaking line! This is a definite step up from the last two, where he has been a tree and a turkey. lol

Anyway, I'm hoping for something tomorrow night as baby sitters are already in place for Mrs Gent's night out which starts before I get home for work. Sitters have said they can extend from 7pm until midnight, so tomorrow would be handy.

After catching up on yesterday's events it seems like we should be forming a queue right now outside of Heart FM's office. Then we can each kick Toby Anstis in the arse as he leaves.

RIP sad
