Such an amazing gig. The songs have been playing through my head over and over all day.

I've been trying to decide which my favourite bit was, but I simply can't... I mean, even the "Sampler Set" section was genuinely awesome!

[Edited 2/10/14 15:46pm]

i'm the same, still buzzing in a way that i haven't experienced before & i've seen some of his 'coolest' shows over the last few years.

the fun element was off the scale, doing something impulsive, dropping everything, travelling from afar & queuing up on the off chance that you might get in to see your favourite artist.. the legend no less!

people in the queue were all there for the right reasons, the excitement in the air was incredible! the nicest people all around, laughing & purple talk all that was on the agenda.

people stopping in cars to ask, what is happening?.. prince is playing? fucking awesome!!

shop keepers made a killing on wine, coffee & kebabs but must have gone through loads of loo roll in the ladies

one woman i met literally joined the queue while out jogging, she still had her running gear on.

*

musically it wasn't the most refined show i've seen, although the setlist was one of the best.. entertainment-wise it was off the scale

i think for me all the right elements were here at this show.

i've decided you can't beat seeing prince on your own turf!

you can't beat small (british) venues!

the tension of waiting & wondering what was going to go down!

the relief of getting a number lol

everyone i met was so polite & excited (each & everyone of those people were more than up for paying the original £70)

the queue moved quick!

prince came out on time!

the energy in the place was bouncing to EXTREME!

everybody had the biggest smiles

prince looked cute, even though all i saw for a while was the top of his afro.. i moved right to the back of the room & found a cheeky step, great result!

for me the setlist was a fab mix! each song was a surprise, i'm a huge fan of his rock stuff but the sampler/piano session was really nice. i thought purple rain stripped back on the keys was a nice touch & everyone went mental for 'forever in your life' alright!!

i forgot how much i loved 'i would die 4 u'

3rdeyegirl are cool bitches

£10 entry was the icing on the cake, such a fab surprise, an amazing token of generosity which is much appreciated.

george clinton hanging out the balcony & in the kebab shop was as funny as hell..

may the funkiness continue!!

I will never forget this night as long as I live.I travelled to London from Aberdeen on the Saturday on the chance he would play a gig that weekend. Was so gutted he didn't play on Saturday but my dreams came true on the 9th which was also my birthday.I had seen only big stadium and arena concerts with Prince and I was so chuffed to finally have the chance to see him in a more intimate gig.It totally blew me away.My partner who came down to London with me was not a big Prince fan but she has now been converted after that night.I thought when I told her we had to queue from mid afternoon to get in and when the price was originally set at £70 she would take a hissy fit but it was my birthday and she just wanted to see me happy. She loved the gig and we both have memories from that night we will cherish forever.
The setlist, the atmosphere, the crowd and the man himself made it my best Prince moment ever and I don't think I will ever forget it.

I ended up with 857 (when I arrived me and the people around me roughly thought we were about 780-800 and from that point on I knew I was in for a good night biggrin )

I can't help thinking that I lucked out, this being the only London show I even attempted. The Electric Ballroom had set the scene and whet the appetite. I kept that weekend free knowing that I could pretty much up and go dependent on venue and queue size. Heard the heads up on 6Music and got myself ready, drove up, queued for just a couple of hours, met some fun friendly people. I'm sure the initial ticket price put some people off and the later "frenzy" for Koko, King's Place, and then Ronnie Scott's (and now Manchester) just didn't seem as intense for this Shepherds Bush announcement. Everyone was very excited but super chilled out as far as I could tell.

Then, once it got to about 6:50pm the rumour and confirmation that it would be £10 made the mood even better. Show started pretty promptly, the sound was pretty loud but nowhere near what people described the Koko as. Setlist was a dream for any big Prince fan. One show of two and a half hours aswell.

Perfick! cool

Of course I read the other gig reviews and wish I had been at them (especially the acoustic part of the first set at Kings Place, and the Ronnie Scott's keyboard fest with the potential to be so close!) But weighing everything up this night at SBE just seemed to be the perfect storm. I'm glad I made it and haven't had to experience the marathon endurance tests of stamina and patience that some of you hardcore nutters have wink lol
