Unless his manager tweets I am taking all these rumours as pinches of salt.

Yup. Sounds like it was a hoax. [Edited 2/7/14 9:07am] All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

That's a ten pin bowling place, ain't it?!!!

That's a bold statement. It very much depends on who you ask. If they are somewhat informed they might know that some stuff miught be different... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Wouldn’t read too much into the talk of only playing 'iconic/legendary' venues. Those tend to be just terms bandied about by bored hype merchants who are looking for another description meaning 'really good'. Would you say that Liane’s living room and the EB were ‘iconic’ before this week?
I’m at work in Central London and it’s just about knocking off time. I’m weighing up whether to loiter around for a few more hours, poised and ready to jump on any twitter rumours of a gig tonight, or whether I should just go home and have a nice cup of cocoa…

The Electric Ballroom is an iconic London venue..no one said her living room was iconic..it was a press conference not a fully blown gig.

Hey peeps - havent been on here for dam too long and this week I've just been trying to keep up with the usual madness when P's in town. My week has been too flat out to get in any reply but I'm back (until I'm back in the studio in a few minutes) Real glad those who waitied and trooper'ed on in the ques to get in, shame some have to ruin it but hey ho, thats life I guess. Gutted I didnt make it down and tomorrow and Sunday night is prob my only free days to get out to see HOPEFULLY a legendery show. I just hope there's some sort of announcement in the mean time and that I dont miss it. Anyway hope everyones all good here and fingers crossed I'll be bumpin into some of you soon

Fair enough on the living room. Not sure if the EB is iconic, but then my definition may be different to yours and to everyone else's.... my point was that we should perhaps consider any London venue as a possibility rather than get hung up on arbitrary definition of what is 'legendary/iconic/world famous/'.
I'd happily go to a complete dump that could never possibly be described in those terms (like, I don't know, the 333 club in Hoxton ) if Prince was playing. It's been too long since you've had your ass kicked properly:

Who would be a Prince fan? Bloody murder this, am seriously contemplating jumping on the bus from Glasgow tonight to be down there all day Saturday in nothing but hope. I must be crazy! If only his manager replied to some tweets asking questions about info instead of retweeting folk kissing her arse telling her how great she is!

Same here, considering driving from Manchester tomorrow, 500 mile round trip, to be in any queue early enough would have to leave around 9am before there are any rea/dubious details being released about possible gigs, Saturday is my only chance as working during the week so cannot get to London .... do I risk it for the possibility of a gig/getting in???

And me. It's doing my head in. I've booked a hotel for tomorrow night' so I'm gonna head to London first thing tomorrow in hope of something happening. I've gotta be honest, this is all very frustrating!

I would prefer to see him in a small venue having experienced o2 Indigo in 2007 but at least offer tickets in advance.
By arranging short notice venues with hardly any cost people are turning up that are not even big fans. Everyone loves a freebie . It also seems a lot of PR people and record company people have been attending the recent gigs in Camden.

and another thing . . . I really dont know how he makes money. There is no money in records anymore. Money is made by touring, hence huge contract artists do with Live Nation and AEG. Prince doesnt really do proper tours anymore so I dread to think what his finances are like. The cost of bringing his team over to London and staying here is going to cost a fortune. I dont think the £10 door charge is going to cover his laundry

That's one of the things I love about Prince...he doesn't do these things for the money. He does them because he loves playing music for people, even after all these years www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

The tickets me and Tony had we sold at face value, I think on the night he even gave one away when somebody he had put it aside for didn't turn up. [Edited 2/7/14 8:33am] I was the one Tony gave the ticket to, we were talking about that the Other night in the que. I still regard that as one the greatest examples of generosity I have ever witnessed. Those tickets were being sold on eBay for up to 2 grand. This happened just before we left the pub where the glow sticks were distributed to go to main show. I was with my brother, the one who had the cardboard symbol guitar. So we still needed an extra ticket. The two girls we had befriended during 21 nights, Alexa and Marcella came out of the indigo, saying they had not scanned their tickets. Next Thing I knew, I was looking at Amy Winehouse sitting on a stool on the stage. Totally insane but a great Memory and it great to be meeting up and getting in contact again. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

For his large shows, he charges $1million dollars. Furthermore, his royalities alone will make a massive annual income (particularly as he owns his own publishing too). Despite many rumours over the years and expensive lawsuits, he's always seemed ok. Still runs a large premises like Paisley Park and can afford to go on a loss-making "tour" just for the publicity. And, bear in mind, he makes alot more than most artists from the records he sells - in fact, according to various sources and interiews, he now makes 9 times what he does on a release as an independent artist than he did when he was signed to WB. So, even though his sales have diminished, his income hasn't. Finally, his financial affairs are surely nothing you should be worrying about, eh? ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

??? whether the rumour mill was true or whether there is an ap? would just love an ap with notifications... am currently thinking about my dream set list for these 3EG gigs - would just die if they played poor goo, the ride and empty room. Am likely to lose my marriage and job if proper announcements are not made soon with dates as cannot concentrate on anything else.

I'm trying to remember if the short notice gigs he did in the summer were mainly on weekends or not. I'm planning to get some time off work but once I take care of the job and some family stuff I'be going to London from Sunday 16th coming back on Thursday 20th. The 20th is probably a write-off given it'd be spent travelling but I'm hoping four full days and nights will be enough. Feel uneasy about missing out the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night possibilities though but I can't get any Friday off and the Saturday hotel prices are crazily expensive. Thinking four full days and nights and nothing happening would be pretty unlucky but I've no idea how many shows he plans to do. Thinking back to the Europe summer gigs and trying to remember if he preferred any particular weekdays and what the gap between shows was. I remember Lisbon was a Sunday (not sure why I remember, I was still in the UK), but other than that it's a blur. Trying to reassure myself a Sunday to Wednesday window will get the job done.

I would have thought it more likely he plays midweek purely down to venue availability.
This clearly isn't pre-booked so it's unlikely a venue will kick out a long-standing artist for a £10 a pop little fella.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah thats exactly what i was thinking. Also, venues probably make all their money at weekends anyway, so are more likely to make a deal midweek when its empty. Sunday night may be interesting though.

Well we were all set to get tickets, book flights etc. now I'm starting not to care. Talk about taking the joy out of something. I seriously can't bear to read another shitting tweet about buying Pretzelbloodylogic or another arse licking tweet telling Kiran how great she is. Then to read it again after she retweets it. I think they are missing the point here, and they are appealing to only a small percentage of their UK/European fan base. No kids? Check. willing to stand in line for 8 hours. Check. Happy to be rewarded with concerts of no determinable length. Check. But that's cool because we only charged you £10. Personally this type of tripe is not for me. Not knocking the 1000 or so fans willing to do this, I did most of the 21 nights and after shows myself, but this is just frustrating and aggravating. It's even making me hate the Plectrum album before I hear it. what kind of PR is that? Make the lucky minority happy, exclude the majority? Bad news, but then again it's what we have come to expect from P. "My God it's full of Stars"

You'd be suprised, Venues are begging for him to play, Kiran just tweeted saying basically her emails have been going mad and this pic, the exposure it will bring a venue is worth kicking out a no body to let prince play.

Right!!! Back in London... It's Friday night! Where's the show? .... Oh, yes. I forgot, this is Prince and nothing is that simple! :d I have a funny feeling we'll be hearing about these amazing gigs the morning after.
