Do you think it's worth it?

not sure, @beez_says there are 80-100 people in the queue already.

Capacity about 300, its going to be close, especially if they don't kick out the people already in there.

so, my thinking on Ronnie Scotts is this - He's a Billy Cobham fan - He playes Stratus last night and has included it in his sets since c. 2007.. Billy Cobham is playing at Ronnie's most of this week including tonight, tomorrow and sat.. Tonight they have someone in the late slot - Tomorrow and Sat it's the house band.. So, anyone care to wager that if he doesn't turn up tonight, he'll try to get down fri or sat to pay respects to Billy? and it's easy to replace the house band..

So they kicked out 300 people last night? Strange

They have a membership there which allows free admission to the club every night after 11pm. So potentially they kicked out 300 people or stopped entry to the late showing to allow Prince to come.

It makes sense that this was the original plan, but after the fiasco outside they did the right thing and played two gigs for the fans who stood out in the wind and rain all day.

I still think if Prince turns up to the club tonight though, they will do whatever he says though.

A joke if he did that to them last night, I believe he went to a house party at Kirans after the 2nd show last night

I paid £69 a show to see Todd Rundgren there. I was sitting about 12 inches from his face. You best get buying membership to get in then.

I too ill to get down there and you need s mortgage to drink and eat there. But the food is very nice. I recommend the chicken.

Why would they let the security people eat into their profit margin?

The people will come anyway, they saw the queue!

Do we know the split for the ~10K (a tenner for ~1000 people) pounds between the house and P?

It's a very low ticket fee anyway....

Do not expect too much for that.

With it being a club type venue small capacity, from experience dont charge alot, if anything if X amount of numbers are gaurenteed, The venue makes their money on the bar, probabaly made 5-10 times more than prince will have made out of it on that alone.

My experience is small venues charge a multipe of a tenner.

And for P-like concerts (aftershows..) that multiple can go as high as 10. (in Europe, USA is a different story with their currency)

So who is to blame for lack of security?

I guess it's P.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Security needs to be sorted by Princes management. When an artist as big as Prince suddenly plays a small venue for very little money it attracts EVERYBODY. The potential for crowd danger is huge! People who wouldn't normally go to a Prince concert will turn up just because it's a tenner in. On Arthur's Day in Dublin, a small pub usually used to really small acts hosted Mumford and Sons. The crowds descended and within 10 mins a very dangerous situation had developed. Dublin journalists described it as terrifying and the potential for fatalities was very real. Well respected journo Dave Fanning left without reporting on the gig and said no job was worth putting his life at risk.
Kiran needs to do her job!
Stop tweeting about staying in bed because of the rain and sort out the bloody security or more people will get hurt.

One of the things that surprised me about situation on Wed night was that a full scale brawl didnt break out, especially when the mob across from the the entrance decided to gate crash as the doors opened.

Regarding responsibility for the security, I am almost certain from a legal point of view that the venue would be held responsible. Unless this sort of thing is an accepted practice in Camden, I am pretty sure that their venue management will be sweating it regarding their entertainment license.

I spoke last night with the security company that we hire for the place I manage, they recently got a contract for The Worlds End in Camden, and he actually thanked me for the tip and said they would avoid dealing with EB in the future. Apparently understaffing security wise is quite common in venues all over London. It is all about money, and of course it would have been extremely difficult for the EB to have arranged proper security at such short notice, especially with the tube strike.

As for Kiran, the so called Prince manager, it is quite apparent that she does alot of stuff but anything that involves any sort of professional prowess is not part of her management act. I imagine she is some sort of PR person, and under normal circumstances would find herself un-employed after the 'Bedtime' tweet.

Prince would really need to get her role sorted out, if something had happened Wed night and lead to a fatality, that would have been the end of it with the tour and his image in the UK. I am sure he would remember what happened years ago in America when a gig by The Who went wrong, or I am sure you can still remember the fallout from the Smashing Pumpkins concert in the Point Depot in 1996.

Anyway, on a lighter note, it is good to hear that Dave Fanning is still on the scene. Has Arthur´s Day become a big thing in Ireland?

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I think her role is obvious. razz On a more serious note, it should be addressed. It is the responsibility of his management and over all will be a terrible reflection on the whole band. The person who will be singled out in the media (if fatality or hospitalization occurred), would be Prince first and his management second.

Just take a look at some of Justin Bieber's examples: lol

To an extent the venue are only responsible for their venue door/inside to abide by their Insurance I guess, it shouldnt come as an extra cost to them to cover extra security outside.

Prince's team will have known what crowd to expect and should have arranged some sort of crowd control weather it being barriers or extra security guards, calling G4S or something would have taken them an hour or two to sort people out at short notice, its what they do.

As I stated before security looked after me so nearly was tripped and pushed on the floor and it could have been nasty. I thanked the grey hair big man in black overcoat he was looking after me.

We heard a big oooh that must have been when they letting people in.

I think next time maybe the police could hang around .

We were told by security it up to us monitor the queue if peeps jumped in. I said they probably drip peeps actually point of entry inside to stop a stampede.
