And for any rumours, please can people put source where possible - e.g. Prince is rumoured to be playing in my kitchen with 3EG tonight. I've put the kettle on, honey is at the ready, and I have a raffle book of 2 tickets for fans - it's a small kitchen.
Source - me, just now, my twitter account

That would be my dream venue. The three ONA gigs were awesome. Great venue. Just the right size. Oh but I want a ticket please - no general admission BS 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Poor ticket sales. He made the mistake of releasing two nights at the same time. Didn't sell enough on both nights. He would have done it if he had done one night. A year later, he only just sold 70,000 in London for Lovesexy.
The show went ahead in the pooring rain in Europe no problem. At one of the nights I went to in Holland it tipped it down. Show went on as nomal. The SOTT stage had a roof. .

Did you witness the general admission issues at those shows? Bedlam! .

I just phoned Ronnie Scotts and the lady told me there was no chance that he was coming. She said he was supposed to come last night and he didn't show up. When i said i saw the rumour from the official twitter, she said that they were not going to kick out 300 customers again on someone who turns up if he wants to. She said trust me, he isn't coming and he had his chance last night. She sounded pissed off that i was asking as well, saying her manager is pissed off with him and wouldn't change her mind !!
I was tempted to go, but am now wondering if its worth the trip. I may be making the same mistake i made yesterday and tuesday night as well though.

So they kicked out 300 people last night? Strange "U have just given birth 2 a 7 pound Bambi..." SBE 9Feb14

So basically, he was supposed to go to Ronnie Scott's last night, realised that the Camden gig was gonna turn into a PR disaster organisationally, and decided to try and patch things up with the second gig. Then screwed Ronnie Scott's, they threw out 300 people, fuck it Prince, you might get away with this shit elsewhere, but you won't in London. fixurlife (or your manager) up. They have a membership there which allows free admission to the club every night after 11pm. So potentially they kicked out 300 people or stopped entry to the late showing to allow Prince to come.
It makes sense that this was the original plan, but after the fiasco outside they did the right thing and played two gigs for the fans who stood out in the wind and rain all day.
I still think if Prince turns up to the club tonight though, they will do whatever he says though.

Why send out the teaser for tonight on twitter then?.... just to mess with P fans? "U have just given birth 2 a 7 pound Bambi..." SBE 9Feb14

Did you witness the general admission issues at those shows? Bedlam! ONA 2002 at Hammersmith was my worst Prince concert experience. The soundcheck part was cool, felt really special but due to where I chose to sit (didn't rush to the front, front row of the 2nd group of seats, on the aisle) the GA part of the main concert was a nightmare as you say. At times I was "stealth pushed" out of my member seat from those gradually sneaking down the aisles. The stewards (they weren't security) were chasing them up and down and around like a Benny hill scene. So distracting, annoying, etc. I look back philosophically now but on the night it really annoyed me and tainted the Prince experience for me for a while. The O2 experience redeemed it all! Thats the bit that didn't make sense. I said your official twitter hints that he might turn up. and she said 'i dont know who wrote that but trust me he isn't coming. My general manager is right beside me and will not let it happen again.
Who knows? i know if i don't go, he will turn up, and if i do, he won't !!
If anyone else wants to try ringing them ring 020 7439 0747 and stay on the phone after they say the box office is closed.

To be honest I have tried many times to get into Ronnie Scotts on a weekend without success so the chance of actually getting in if Prince plays there is almost zero.

Although i think he doesnt turn up, why would she tell you? Respect 4 your effort but people dont care about strangers...funny though she told u bout yesterdays disaster at theur place

Oh well thats Ronnie Scott's out as a potential venue in the future
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
reading into the tweet, i think they have decided that they will not close the club or kick anyone out tonight, and if he turns up then they might start making arrangements for him.
Not sure if thats enough to warrant a 2hr drive though. [Edited 2/6/14 14:10pm]

I was in the queue at Camden yesterday and mid afternoon we were hearing there was going to be 2 shows. A couple of hours before we went in, we were being told everyone in the queue would get in, so it was planned to do 2 shows quite early on I think. I was also talking to guy in the queue who was friends with the manager at Ronnie Scott's...there is no way he would have queued for 5 hours at Camden if Ronnie Scott's had been planned. Finally I really do not beleive that Prince would get turned away from Ronnie Scott's. Can you imagine the doorman refusing him entry ..... come on! so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

If Ronnie Scott's has a membership deal as posted, then I see them protecting their income regardless of what international celeb is in town. Its just shit on the wind, what are they gonna make out of it? It's all about the £ at the end of the day. Piss off your punters (by asking them to leave) and you gamble that they won't renew their membership fees next year. You pay out for something like that, then you want to be made feel special, you pay for the privilege, not being asked to leave!!. Simples. [Edited 2/6/14 14:36pm] "My God it's full of Stars"

Has this already been posted? If so, apologies:http://www.telegraph.co.u...eview.html"It’s an odd thing to suggest, but if Prince has a weakness, it might be that he is just too talented. He does so many things incredibly well, the one thing he can’t seem to do is stay focused on the singular. 3rdEyeGirl are an incredible precision-built heavy rock band who, it strikes me, are just too playful and funky for hardcore heavy rock fans."
