I wish I could be in London for all the excitement! I've been following you all every spare minute I have. Haven't posted here since after the hop farm gig. Having been at the front of wembley and hop farm I don't think I could face the squeeze again. Getting too old for that. I disagree with using the bracelets like at wembley. Wembley front section got overpopulated by people selling their bracelets whilst on visits to toilets/food, and then telling security they had lost them. They had worked out how to remove them intact.
Stay safe orgers, there are fans all over the country following you

Whilst the Hit & Run aspect of these shows is good for the element of surprise it would be much more suited to aftershows. I would like to see a list of concerts where fans can buy tickets & its more structured. Shows at the Indigo2, Jazz Cafe, Ronnie Scotts are good venues but i think for fans outside London its pot luck whether theyll even get to see P where you cant really make last minute decisions to travel on a whim hoping youll be in the que to get in. Maybe Prince will do larger venues in the future where everyone has the opportunity to see him in concert.

This is gonna do my head in. I'm 100 miles away again now. By the time I get to central London, with no tubes, the chances ae that the line outside that place will be so long I wont stand a chance of getting in anyway. That's if it's even true in the first place.

Im supposed to be going to London tomorrow to wait for a show, whever it is, or isnt.

Come on Prince, give us a proper ticketed Brixton Academy gig. It's perfect for this band.

In this kind of situation you expect that some poor bugger (in this case me!) will queue all afternoon and my mate who couldnt get out of work came later to join me and effectively jumped the queue. Its something that, to a degree, you have to accept. What I did object to was a couple of people ahead of me queuing and at least 10 of their mates coming in as 7pm drew nearer. That was taking the piss IMO.

Sorry NO that is plain wrong. 1 person or 10 it doesn't matter. You were not there and should have gone to the back. I had a friend in the queue too and I was at work unable to get out too! But I didn't go and push in risking someone else who had been their hours in the rain not getting it. Sorry mate but you suck!

Said it already but there are two ways to deal with this:

1. EASY ONE - raffle tickets or comp slips (the venue seemed to learn for second gig of night). One per person, you aint in the queue you don't get in.

2. HARD ONE - reintroduce the NPGMC priority tickets for hardcore fans (obviously won't be able to do that for this "tour")

But that's the point - there was NO governance or management of the queue. It was a free for all and in that situation you know there is going to be some of this going on but you rely on people's integrity not to take the piss, and some people have more than others. There was a woman trying to get through the barrier and she was stopped. Had they handed out wristbands this wouldn't have happened, but they didn't so it was was it was. As it happened, anyone who did get pushed back got a better show! It a controversial topic, but I would have been more pissed off if there was security and they didn't stop people.

eek Er I really think you don't get it! What your friend did (with your permission/help) was push in front of people who had been there all day! Wrong WRONG WRONG!!!!! The fact there was no security or organisation is irrelevant to whether it was right or wrong!

  • In regards to “queue jumping”, I don’t think it is black and white.

  • I’ve been going to Prince Gigs since 1986, and for all the non standard shows (i.e., where you couldn’t pre book seats) there has always been fans letting in other fans be it overnight at Wembley Arena and Stadium, Hammersmith, hell, most after shows.

  • In all those years, I never did it myself, and I was peeved when others did. I always joined the back and got there early. But I understood why they did it. Not everyone could get there when I could.

  • Some people object from the moral high ground of “first come, first served”, and choose to ignore the fact that they were in the privileged position of either close proximity, or the flexibility of work. This, in effect, gives them an unfair advantage over may others.

  • They could claim, “tough shit, that’s my luck”. But equally, someone who has a friend in the queue could claim “tough shit, that’s my luck”. As the saying goes, you make your own luck.

  • To me, there is a difference in diehard fans looking after diehard fans, to some of the piss heads in the queue last night who had nothing better to do and let 10 friends in because they wanted to check out what Prince was like.i>
  • At the end of it all, I blame the planners. Amateur at best. There are easy ways to deal with first come first served fairly, or they could avoid it completely and worked out a typical fan based system.

  • But ask yourself this. If you were one of those further back in the queue and had received word that the back entrance to the ballroom (there is one) had opened early and you could run round and get in, would you have refused to use it, instead, asking security staff to inform those at the front?

  • If you had refused, even at the risk of missing out, then you are a better man or woman than me or, I'm guessing, the majority of the queue.

  • If you had run round, you are no different to anyone else making hay over an unfair opportunity.

Some very valid points there, the highlighted one was what really pissed me off yesterday. Especially the mob that pretended to be onlookers across the road from the entrance. That there wasn't a major fracas or worse was a surprise.
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

They probably just need to sell tix online. But even if they do and it's general admission, there is still also the problem of people dashing inside the venue to get up front, which happens a lot with general admission. Not unless they have an organized line entry of course, once people are inside the venue. The venue just needed to be more organized with the line and entry into the venue situation. Anyway, hope you all have fun at the shows.
