If i got a train to waterloo how would I get to Camdan town without Underground?
Not all of the underground is not working today. Northern Line, which Camden Town station is on, is running a full service. Not sure how that ties in with Waterloo but if you can get the northern line from Waterloo, you're laughing.
Thanks guys, but I wont get into Waterloo till 6:14pm...think ill be cutting it a bit short

I've been a Prince fan for 30 years plus. Like many on here I have spent more than I care to own up to on tickets over the years for concerts and aftershows. I really appreciate his talents as a musician, though question some of his antics with the record industry. But it has become increasingly difficult over the last few years to dismiss the way his fanbase is treated despite wanting to qualify everything by the phrase "but it is Prince". Sadly the debacle of the last few days has pretty much finished me now. I will always enjoy his music and have memories of fantastic concerts and aftershows but I'm too old and weary now to play these types of games. Why can't Prince or his management understand us mere mortals have bills to pay, jobs to hold down and food to put on the table of our loved ones. We have to plan, budget and take account of work when planning to see people in concerts and has he forgotten that the UK is not just London! They say the "Hit & Run" concerts are to avoid fans being scalped and that true fans will benefit - I think the opposite. Whilst a small number of true fans will get to see him, many more will be left disappointed and frustrated. Thwarted in the opportunity to see him because they live outside of London, have work, bills to pay etc etc. Not everyone can drop everything and wait in a line for the whole day (Fair play to those of you who are doing just that - been there / done that!). A properly promoted arena tour would allow fans to get tickets, budget for the concert, make a special day of it culminating in seeing a fantastic musician whilst not risking their job or putting themselves in financial difficulty.
If Prince and his management were to listen to his fans and treat them with respect - they would know, he is still very much appreciated and people want to see him perform. Give us all the opportunity rather than these "Hit & Run" events that leave many more disappointed than it leaves satisfied. |

Would the queue be any different when P had put a small advert in the newspaper saying doors at 19:00, show at 21:00 ?
He did not cause the rain or your lack of proper clothing.
If P would have done this 'tour' in the Netherlands, people would have queued from the moment that the news was known. And when I say people, I mean too many people.
I am not saying that that is good but just as a matter of fact.
Well, if you are not saying this is good then we agree. I'm not there incidentally, so I'm not bitching about standing in the rain, I'm too old for that shit. If people want to queue for 8 hours knowing what they are queuing for that's great. A little information would have meant that people could have decided and prepared to wait for this long (in the rain). A lot of people queuing thought they were waiting for tickets at 2pm not another 5 hours or so in the rain. That's just bad form from Prince and his team. But it's perfectly obvious why they did it. To get more media attention.
I'm no defender of Prince's behaviour at the best of times but I am yet to see this rumour linked to anyone in prince's team. the 2pm time seemed to come from a guy on twitter. Now Prince could have gone and denied it but sure he'd be denying rumours all day if he started that. |

The countdown clock that Prince linkled to has always stated 7pm...would have been nice to know what exactly was happening at 7pm though.
As many have already stated, we can't all drop everything and stand in a queue not knowing if we're going to get in, and how long we'll be queueing for. |

I hear ya! Just gotta hope that this is PR and hype-building for the release of PlectrumElectrum.. once it's out, hopefully he'll do something a bit more solid.
He hasn't done a UK show in 7 years, and hasn't played outside of London since the 2 Manchester shows in 2002, 12 years ago. If this is all we're getting, then I will be really disappointed. |

I think everyone who has said that today's events are for PR purposes have hit the nail on the head. The Prince organisation can sometimes seem, well, disorganised, but surely this is part of an extended drip drip drip of info to hype up eventual bigger shows and the 'plectrum' release. I have faith that there is method in the madness.
While it's a bit frustrating not to be able to get involved today, I must say that following the events is making me excited to be a Prince fan again. |

Very well said. I'm not convinced Kiran has the best organisational skills!
If firm and proper info was given people can then make decisions and know what they're in for. To let fans stand in the cold and rain for hours on the off chance they may get ONE ticket and into see Prince is a bit of a joke.
Am lucky enough to have seen Prince a fair few times including some after shows and gigs at Cafe de Paris and Indigo2 but i'm too old and sensible now to take days off work and queue up for hours in this weather based on such little info.
I'll wait until anything proper and more sensible is announced.
Good luck to those who are persevering today!!! |

Absolutely correct that the rumour was from some essentially unknown person on Twitter and we probably shouldn't have taken any notice of it.
But it's the complete information vacuum that allows such rumours to take hold.
There's been a countdown clock - how difficult would it have been to say what the countdown clock was counting down to? How hard would it have been to say "Doors open 7pm, no advance tickets, entry £10". It just took me about 3 seconds to type that. |

Totally agree, it'd be much more convenient for folks....but that's never been the way Prince works. My other fave artist is Madonna and the way she tours is totally different. Always arena tours with confirmed dates, times, ticket sale dates, usually every three years or so, with same setlist every night for every show. Its all very regimented which is great for organising yourself, but you do sometimes wish for a bit more spontaneity and variety sometimes, like how Prince tours. Swings and roundabouts I guess.... |

I am not saying he needs to play huge arenas because that is not going to happen but at least give some sort of tour plan and make tickets available on line. Its the 21st century FFS. |

Thanks to all who have posted concrete information here during the day - it's been incredibly helpful.
I don't finish work until 5:30pm and Camden is approx 1 hour's drive - I don't suppose there is any point heading up to the Ballroom on the off-chance?
I'm also assuming that the venue hasn't been organised enough to be giving out wristbands or similar to those who've actually queued throughout the day so that late arrivals can't just sneak into the queue and deny those further back the chance of getting in?

I would guess it's not worth it. And there have been no reports of wristbands so, as the queue is incredibly long and stretches round several corners, it's not going to be policed by security. If late arrivals join their friends who have been in the queue much longer than them, there's not much anyone can do other than resort to peer pressure, or violence. |
