Now, I want to go.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Hmmm interesting, the last Brixton show was great. Chakka Khan started I Feel For U and Prince came over the PA with, "Hey girl, that's my song", strolled out, dueted with her then strolled off. The place went wild.

RIP sad

I was at the Wembley show too but don't remember that, unless he did more than 1 night at Wembley?

RIP sad

Only the 1 Wembley Show that year, but he did come running out onto the stage - to a huge roar - not long after Chaka had started "I Feel For You" to join her for the rest of the song.

Still the worst Prince show I've been to - by a long mile - but have enjoyed plenty of amazing ones that help me put it into a purple perspective.

Ahh, this night is coming back to me now...

This was the night of the Hippodrome aftershow wasn't it? The unfortunate night of going to a concert with my mother! Late for the main show so missed the Chakka and Larry bits, then afterwards her being all tired and not being able to go to the hippodrome. On top of that there were massive delays on the trains and we didn't get back until nearly 3am, so she wouldn't have been much worse going to the aftershow anyway. At that point I'd never been to an aftershow.

Should have just insisted the missus went to both the shows but noooo, Mum likes Prince, she can come. Grrrrr.

She did redeem herself a little for the O2 shows though. Took her to one as a thanks for all the baby sitting, which she did quite a bit of that summer and this time she went to the aftershow, (she actually didn't have a choice this time smile ). Was the show after the September 13th concert, which was pretty damn good.

RIP sad

smile pity about the '98 aftershow - I missed that one too as took a mate and his son to their first Prince show and his son was too young to have gotten into a club, so....
Was there at 13th Sept show at the O2 and aftershow - such a sublimely cool summer!
Marvellous !! Better, dare I say it, than a fine cup of tea!

True. I was at the show and he walked on behind her holding the train on her dress as far as I can recall. Good surprise for a good show.

He did indeed. I went to that one at Wembley Arena with my sister and remember the roar.

Cannot for the life of me remember much of the setlist. What was a typical 1998 NewPowerSoul setlist?

Thanks but wowsers my memory of that setlist is so vague. I remember more of him "guesting" on Free and I Feel For You during Larry and Chaka's sets.

I think I recall him saying something about wearing the same shoes as James during Talking Loud and Saying Nothing(?) or was that on the Ultimate Live Experience (gold) tour in '95.

I think he mentioned about seeing the same smiling faces each time he comes to London.

The songs though... blank memory banks sad

2002 - One Night Alone Tour - he played Hammersmith in October

But, yeah, it's looking unlikely, isn't it? No guesting with Janelle Monae in the UK, and no more rumours about him turning up to the NFL game at Wembley this weekend...
