Why would you want them to change this setlist?

When P did the tours back in the days like SOTT, LS, etc there was a steady setlist also...it gives folks a change to get to know the new material and get into it. First time for me to hear SD, Fix.., etc live. And I think for most of us in the house. I was very happily surprised he played so much new material.

But having said that...Prince & the girls rocked the house last night! (2nd) Show was tight, uptempo, great setlist, powerfull and truly wonderful to see him kick ass on the guitar. And over and over again he proofs how strong new songs are live. Highlights for me were Fixurlifeup, Screwdriver and The Breakdown. Sure it was a short show but worth every penny...I truly saw it as an aftershow gig; no expectations. If he would have played Ahoy first and then we would get this gig nobody would have complained about the money or duration.

Folks, be happy, be pleased...this was da bomb!

Got back home from an enervating 2nd show. First thumbs up to the other Prince fans who where very relaxed when queing! Had great chats with some of them!

Got in and had a perfect view, stood against the stage with naught but a meter between me and Prince. Seeing him so close was extra special. Loved the show and especially Endorphine machine, Srewdriver and Cause and Effect.

He started the show with Breakdown, a nice ballad with lots of screaming towards the end of the song which give it a lot of extra soul. He gave the girls lots of time to shine. Especially loved it when Donna was standing on one leg (with high heels on) and playing a guitar between her legs 0_0 looked very difficult.

He seemed in excellent sprits all through the show.

Must say the new songs really work in a live environment! Screwdriver really brings the house down!

I like the 3rd Eye Girl band a lot. However a felt the show was way too short! But that's the never satisfied P fan in me wink

All in all very happy to have been there!

Attended the first show. Many of the songs were the same songs (and same 3rd eye girl arrangements) from the third night of the Montreux festivals (which, like other orgers, I think was energetically the best of the three shows, followed by the first one, and finally by the second one... in which I think Prince's energy was off due to the many negative, aggressive fans in the crowd... I digress...)

Overall I think this show was better than the third Montreux show. Prince's guitar solos last night almost made me cry, the man was on fire, and he knew it, and we felt it, and it was awesome. The man can channel some powerful spiritual and sexual energy. What a genius. It was so intense. I think it was the solo in Endorphinmachine that especially made my eye pop out.

I really enjoyed last night's arrangement of "I could never take the place of your man", which for some reason seemed to work last night, but I didn't think it worked so well in Montreux. Last night it rocked.

The fans at last night's show were cool and laid back and friendly, a much chiller audience vibe than in Switzerland.

I paid 300s euro for my ticket but it was worth it for such an amazing show is such as small venue. I was very near the stage, about three rows back just to the right of Prince. As others have said, he was in a super awesome mood, and he was just totally on. The man seems to be in such a great place in himself, and we all share in that, and he shares in our sharing smile

Weirdest thing of the night: the cowbell player getting off the stage, approaching me, asking my name, and walking off. Have I been to one Prince concert too many??

Now lets just hope the man comes to Germany!

How long was the second show? I read he started 15min earlier. I went to the first show, was a bit longer than 2 hours which I think is a normal show for him. Other artists normally have 1,5 hours so for me 2 hours is cool. With Prince it's always too early when he leaves!! His band was good, I read so many bad reviews on here and FB that I was actually surprised that they were good. They're young (Hanna and Donna), need to learn his music and ways of conducting a show but I thought they were good. The only thing I had was that Donna looks kinda cute but wants to act badass, that didn't match, she jumped wildly around but looked like a 12 year old schoolgirl acting excited about a cool dance, I thought is was funny though. I had a blast, that's for sure, I'm feeling great today.

and eh, maybe a silly question, how do I get enters between my lines? I get one large story, I want to add enters between sentences...

He played 1h30 minutes. He started 15 minutes earlier, but the show was ove around 01:30. The last things was a remix of Fixurlifeup being played thru the PA and Prince and band jumping on stage and thanking everyone.

You can enter just by pushing the enter tab wink

The energy really was there! he seemed to enjoy himself and the girls were on fire. Hannah was smiling and singing along to almost every song. I felt Donna was really rocking, but I have a feeling she is a bit unsure sometimes, I guess that will be remedied soon enough smile Ida was just a solid presence, cool as ever.

went the early show/ the first one. It was AMAZING! so great to see Prince so up close, we queued. but with tickets scanning it went so slowwwww. so that's where i lost time lol. the front row was already full, but there wasn't a barrier. i been in Paradiso, like 15 times or more, the stage is high, but i honestly thought there would be a barrier just in case... but there wasn't! great! we had a spot in the middle of his mic, second row, we both had only 1 person in front of us... amazing, been to many Prince gigs but never been this close. been front row at all my gigs, but this is closer than ever. (well been on stage with him 3 years ago, but that was just 10 minutes, i was standing right behind him in touching distance. razz)

so that was already amazing, and Paradiso is my favorite venue. been to almost all venues in my country, but Paradiso is just amazing and most beautiful.

The show was just AMAZING. i love 3rd Eye Girl. great band, especially love Donna, she plays great imo!

Woman power! yeah. i really liked them, they gave Prince some kind of new and fresh energy. just 3 bandmembers and him, perfect. i don't need 30000 backup singers and 30000 bandmembers.

I just loved it was just rocking out. that's what i love doing Prince the most, guitarsolo's and just seeing him rocking out. so it was heaven for me. just full on rocking for 2 hours!

finally heard Endorphinmachine!! one of the songs i really wanted to hear. finally!

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man... fucking brilliant.

loved the new songs too! they really worked.

I could do without Purple Rain though, but still. loved the setlist and it was just so great.

and it was bit too short, i wanted more. but who doesn't want that. wink it was still almost 2 hours.

Cthulhu

I went to the 2nd show and although it was rather short, i found it really kickass.

P. was having a blast and the fun and energy was radiating from all the bandmembers.

I was very happy with Crimson & Clover. Plectrum Electrum and Cause & Effect where mean good. Overall it was mean good... The guitarsolo's where nasty and very playfull.

Both concerts were absolutely great.

The girls were rocking the roof off Paradiso.

Prince and his guitars were mindblowing.

There really is nobody who can compete with his guitar play.

I got the impression they improvised and jammed a lot during the first concert.

And they did a great job.

The energy and vibe they spreaded was uplifting.

I went crazy during both concerts nuts

And to all the fellow orgers in the front, thank you, for being really nice people.

Because I had so much fun chatting with you guys and dancing and sharing this fantastic experience.

Every minute was a thrill.

What a guitar god, he is my greatest example.

Great pic really! The hat reminds me a bit of George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic that I was pleased to witness again about a month ago, also in the Paradiso.

How wonderful for you to have seen him again, and then even 2 times in a row.

Paradiso is a former church building you knew that right?

You can see it beautifully in the pic here, with the big chruch windows in the background.

Guitar god Prince, rocking the roof of his favorite place to play in Amsterdam, de Paradiso! biggrin

Anyway, thanx 4 the stories & the photos, everyone. I couldn't make it, but that's okay, I had my share in 2011. Glad y'all had a good time! But... if I may do some bitching... what's with this 2 gigs on 1 night stuff. Seriously... Why? It can't be the money (then he'd play Ahoy or Ziggodome.) Could it be this girlrock band is too limited after all? And that's why he also has the big band? I would prefer one good long concert to two short ones. But still... thanx 4 the feedback!

LOL, you would think so. But you talk about keeping a low profile. George W. Bush is like the groundhog - he only comes out once a year. Of course, he lives in Dallas. If I lived in Dallas, I'd stay inside all the time, too.

His dad, George H. W. Bush, though - THAT is a cool dude. It's hard NOT to run into him if you hang out in Houston.

hi, please tell me, where do you see that? At the right is the right balcony, I see someone sitting up there. Just right from his shoulder, that looks like a sticker or something. Or a bass drum image of the 3rd Eye Girl. Two big spot lights in the roof. And The Man With The Cow Bell.

Wait, I get my other glasses. Would you please explain, or point out with paint or snaggit what you see. I'm always interested in pictures with extra dimensions.

To all people: Thanks for the positive reports and the pictures!

I am following Prince since 82, attending my first concert in 86. I am happy for Prince that he has moved on and is not sticking with his old 82-87 stuff; too many bands from the 70/80ties do that. That is why I agree that he should not touch any of the old Revolution songs (or he should rework them like Moonbeam Levels, All day all night etc). However, although I am certainly not the arbiter of good taste, really so far (generally speaking) what I heard and saw of the 3rdeye girls (incl the livestream of Paradiso) I think they are not up to Prince's standard. Yes they are loud, wild, heavy whatever; but I dont think (just my 2 cents) they are top class musicians. Good musicians can play quietly and with variations. Long hair does not do the trick for me; I rather watch Tommy Barbarella in that case. eek These concerts are the first concerts in NL I decided upfront to skip, and I have attended them all since 19 Aug 86. I may get old and grumpy though cool
