I remember waaaay back in the day, (I guess around the Romance 1600 days) watching the evening news once and they reported about a Sheila E. concert in NYC, and how Prince surprised the concertgoers.

That was Sheila E. That was when Prince was at his best.

For THAT, I would pay $350.00

Shelby & that other person that I don't know from Adam? hmph!

Sorry. It verges on pathetic. I hate to say it, but it is. It's like..."Hmm, let's see how much we can charge people for the CHANCE to see Prince play a song or two."
rolleyes

How about you NOT announce a "surprise visit"...and actually hop on stage at a venue where no one is expecting to see you? I think that if Prince had hopped onstage at the fDeluxe concert last year, I would've pissed in my pants. That would have been genuine excitement. BB King's would've blown UP.

I'm sure I could splurge on the $75 standing room ticket...but not for Shelby & the "chance" of seeing Prince. I didn't pay that much to see Sheila E/fDeluxe, and I had a damn SEAT.

shrug Pass.

Prince hopping onstage with fDeluxe? I believe Chris Brown will do what he threatened to do and thats retire from the music industry before Prince jam with them. If Shelby J or Liv had an album out and they were playing some songs from the CD to promote it, it would be a little more unstandable, but priced at $25.

Yes! That was in 1986.. Eye went to both of Sheila's shows and Prince came out on both of them & blew the roof off! He also did an audience run & Eye was knocked out the way by his bodyguard guard! When Eye reached out my hand 2 give him a pound.

Now we hear over 25 years later & Prince is still going strong & making more guest appearance. With the fabolous Shelby J!!!

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Trickology

Somebody gassed up the NPG name in their heads. No one is paying 75 in NYC for a show w/ Liv and Shelby. Unless I am missing something, do these two have a status in NY that is unheralded for their time?

Having people pay 75 would be similar to this if this was in 1992 where the world was more of a DANGEROUS time w/ a certain background vocalist:

MJ:Siedah, im thinking you can handle the show on your own. The people will pay 75

Siedah: I don't know, Michael, I'm just a background singer who only has one spotlight in the show

MJ: Listen, you've been on the road for a while w/ me. I know...I KNOW

Siedah: How about I share the bill w/ someone?

MJ: You don't need anyone, you are a star!

Siedah: No, I'm thinking Jennifer Batten!

MJ: Ohhhh yea, she can shred on the guitar. Get her, that idea is brilliant!

Siedah: But are we worth 75?

MJ: The Hell you aren't, I'm dancing in rehearsal, I love it.

Siedah: Michael, you are so sweet, thank you.

MJ: Remember Keep it 75 smackaroos!

Siediah: I certainly will do that

MJ: Not a penny Less!

Siedah: You got it, king!

MJ: Wonderful, now if you excuse me I have to go concentrate in a sleep session in my hyperbaric chamber. :stops dead in tracks and turns around: Man, you know what I was just thinking?

Siedah: What?

MJ: Prince wishes he could do something like this, but he doesn't have the balls. We beat him, Siedah! We whooped his ass w/ this idea! I don't even know how I came up w/ it. God must want me to beat Prince. First Thriller, now this!

Meh. I'm in NYC and am not interested in playing Prince lottery games.

Have fun to those of you who decide to go.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

lol Who cares about the naysayers. If anyone wants to go, then it's their personal choice really. GA tix are still available for all shows right now, 9:15am EST.

Anyway, so far on 8/21 there are plenty of VIP seats available for the early and late shows.

On 8/22 there are 17 VIP seats left for the early show, and about 42 seats left in VIP, for the late show.

On 8/23 there are only 3 VIP seats left;(1 single seat left at one table/2 seats left at a different table)for the late show, and on 8/25 VIP seating sold out. I gather for 8/23 and 8/25, those are the 2 shows, most probably believe Prince may show up. I don't know what time the sale starts for the general public today, but we shall see how much more will sell once that happens. I'm sure Liv/Shel and the npghornz will put on a good show regardless.

To answer your other question, you had to be a member to buy tix in advance. Tix are available now for general public. VIP sold out for 8/23 and 8/25.

------ Why is that sad? People are smart they can read the advertisement. Be honest a lot of this complaining is just plain old jelousy. A lot of people cannot afford these prices and P has not done a across the country tour in a while (with resonable prices). I am sure he will do one soon at least I hope before he is 60years old. No need to be negative about a concert you are not going to attend be happy for the people that are going.

yeahthat

The Vegas shows were expensive, but they were freakin' VEGAS shows, with the guarantee of seeing Prince.

This nonsense reeks of desperation.

Maybe it's negative on my part, but it sure as hell ain't jealousy! falloff If you have the ability to dish out $200 on a show of this caliber, then good for you. But I'm not going to pretend that I think it's a great idea. That's why we have these boards...to post our feelings, our likes and our dislikes.

Better get used to negative feedback if you want to roll with the Org! That's why I've been here so long and couldn't deal with the unabashed brown-nosing of NPGMC. We are free to criticize here. lol
