-------- You have no proof but do not let that stop you. You do realize that very few people outside of Prince.org know who FDeluxe is. The show could have been cancelled because they did not sell enough tickets.

It looks like the FDeluxe show was cancelled for other reasons. The group tweeted this last night (Aug 4):

here. Definitely not. We cancelled due to a member's unexpected personal commitment. All is good

***

This was in reply to New Powre NY, who tweeted:

gets bumped from City Winery for a Shelby and the NPG and a Show in August?!? Oh Prince might do one!...

Crap, going to be out of town!

Well, will save some money tryting to guess which show Prince will show up at.

---- He will make money and you jealous people will just have to get the fuck over it. Both these chicks can actually sing and if he had some half dress chick up there yelping none of you would bat an eyeball.

I don't think it's jealousy...I think it's the ticket price...People balked at paying $250 and over $300 bucks to see P, who by all accounts gave some kick ass shows with 3EG...

Now he's asking for the same money for his backing singer and band?

Whether or not Shelby looked like say Rihanna is moot....

People willing to pay such a high price just want to make sure that P will be there and perform beyond doing a couple of songs...

Ya dig?

This is just upsetting to me. I hate this whole marketing tactic. The prices are just too high, and I don't want to see 6 million hours of Shelby (who is talented no doubt), but i just don't want to! I love City Winery! I've seen some awesome and classy shows there in the last few years, and this will surely be one of them, however I just don't think the price is warrented. He'll probably sing for 10 minutes and peace. Maybe he's just getting tired...

How'm I gonna fill this empty room...

When no one buys tickets - he'll either suddenly magically be on the bill, or the shows will be cancelled. This is a true low-point in Prince fandom.

Yep. If you need $ Prince, I'd rather send you $500 and skip the drama. I'm a long time supporter; been through countless Prince hysterics. 3rd Eye shows were amazing. But, booking the band so you don't have to commit? Playing "let me try to guess which show he will play?" Either you fell and bumped your head or you have some amazing surprises in store for City Winery. I'm just not feeling that lucky that I will be at THE show that you rock.

.

I can't imagine anybody shelling out that much for the advertised line-up, but I may well be wrong and people will pay.

Hold on guys. How many here actually live in NY? What's the point of bitching about a concert you're not going to see anyway?
If he did this in Amsterdam, I might go and see one. Depending on the ticket price, which IS high for a Prince without Prince concert.

You're out of your mind, sorry.

I'm seeing Sting for $250 at the more intimate venue of Joe's Pub & a portion of that is going to charity. I'm seeing John Fogerty at the Beacon Theater for less than $100. Neither of those artists may be your particular taste, but you know something? They're actually going to be there!!!!

This is fucking ridiculous.

This version of the NPG does not write or sing leads on any Prince record. They have no album of their own, so no hits of their own. What music do they play without Prince? I assume it's going to be Aretha Franklin covers, Larry Graham tunes, etc.. There is nothing they could play or do that would draw my interest at anything more than $15.00 a ticket and even then I wouldn't go if I had anything else to do. This run is probably part of Prince playing games with the media again. They probably will have a camera crew there to document how great his legend is that fans are stupid enough to pay hundreds of dollars on a chance they will be there the night the great artist will appear, blah blah blah. Only Prince scams his fans this way.

---------Because that is what people do on this bitch about concerts that they are not even going to attend. (LOL) I could care less about how much money P charges because I have a brain in my head and I have a full life with plenty of other things to worry over beside how much P is charging for concerts this week.

I don't think this setup is really fair to Shelby or Liz. I am afraid people will be going to these shows hoping for a "special guest" and won't appreciate what these two ladies have to offer. It would be better to say they are doing a couple shows alone (for a cheaper price) and that Prince is definitely showing up on other dates (which could cost more - but I still think $200-$350 is too much).

By the way, I live a couple hours from NYC and do go to concerts down there, so this is not just a hypothetical discussion for me. In fact, I am going to a free show in NYC tomorrow.

Unless everyone plans on going VIP I am not sure why people are complaining about the highest level tickets or are you just not reading OR just looking for something negative to say. The tickets are $75 and the band has how many people. Why are you dismissing the talent of these 2 ladies? It said Prince is confirmed for one show so I don't think they are trying to trick people.

Also the higher level is one night after the VMA awards. Maybe everyone needs to get out more instead of being negative behind their computer but when big events like this are going all the prices are higher.

ummmh...maybe I can get my Prince fix on...or maybe not? This is my take. When he did the 2011 Residency across the country, he also "presented" his friends or other performers, some better known than others, but he was always the primary performer and he did a hell of job! Every night he was the key performer, who both thrilled me and rocked me at the same time.

New York is huge for Prince because he has a loyal, enormous, knowledgeable and valuable fan base and it is the mecca destination from several areas of the country and the world at large...you don't come there playing less than your best game...so for me I believe the shows will be amazing. Not only will we be blessed with the incredible talents, their great stage presence, wonderful vocal skills and the musical smorgasbord of Shelby, Liz and the NPG Hornz but the energy, the vibe and the expectancy of his Residency is only intensified by it taking place in NYC. They were well into Prince before the rest of the world caught up...U don't mess with that!!!

I always heard the City Winery is an incredibly eclectic, wonderfully intimate and chic location that, to me, fits the bill... for several sensational, out of the box, extraordinary Prince events...with these "friends" @ this Residency.

It reminds me of the 3121 "Residency" in Las Vegas. Although it was not officially called, Prince presents...or the word "Residency' used then", Prince still played in the band and sang each night I was there even when he was not the featured or main performer. Actually, when that "Residency" night did not include him on the bill but Maceo, Larry Graham, etc...he still performed, he was always present, incredibly personal & close, personable and became a part of the ambiance of the intimate setting...he both circled the perimeter of audience several times (and the fans appreciated the personal touch so much they didn't interrupt his musical flow, impend his movement or impinge on his personal space in any way). Both he and Maceo would be in motion at the same time. Maceo performed as he walked through the crowd of fans and played in front of many of us several minutes(he played several bars in front of me and tipped his head to me when he moved back to the stage, fans came to congratulate me immediately...great moment for me!!!). Prince was always visible, highlighted and part of the performances.

My whole point? I trust the same intimate setting, the incredible NYC energy, the respect he has for the city's support and the awesome talent of NPG, Liv and Shelby, I believe will be the backdrop of several, if not all, fabulous performances w/Prince...fits his M.O.

I'm planning to travel there...don't U want 2 come?

I couldn't agree with you more! $75 for real music experience! I love Prince and trust that if he puts his band out there that he knows what he is doing. The man is an icon. Thanks for a positive comment.

I think people r sceptical because they've been burnt too many times by Prince before. Also i don't care whether it is in NYC, i still think it's over priced. That's just my opinion.

The problem here is that nothing can be straightforward.
If Prince is showing up and you want to pay - that makes sense.
This teasing bullshit has run it course - decades ago. Coming soon, special guests is all like some high school kid trying to play games with his girlfriend to seem more mysterious. It might work at first but then it becomes pathetic. Yes, he's welcome to do what he wants but this kind of stuff is not really very interesting anymore.

The City Winery is pretty cool if you're 63 and want to sip wine and cut your filet mignon while you watch some poor has-been play at the last venue that will book him, but it aint a place to see funky music.

That said Shelby J is a never was so she fits some what. Occasionally the City Winery has cool shows that fit its space but just like carnegie hall and the City Winery where the wrong venues for the Prince tribute shows early this year so will this NPG series be misplaced.

I am saving my money for when and if Prince shows up to play with 3rd Eye Girl. I am really excited to see him play in a play like Webster Hall, Terminal 5, etc. and then some after parties down the street from me at Brooklyn Bowl...Dreamer

Hi everyone,

I've been to the Citywinery several times. It's an awesome venue. The last time was when Liv was performing. Shelby was also there. And you know what? Shelby and Liv are much more fun without Prince. I enjoyed the show a lot. The vibes were so good! I walked out of that place and thought I payed only 25 dollars for this? It was unforgettable! And I gotta tell you I have seen a lot of concerts in my life!

When the show was over I was able to meet the girls in the winery, I had a blast. Those women deserve everything in the world.

I decided to buy a ticket for the Friday night. I'm gonna have fun no matter what and if my hero shows up then I'm very happy. If not then there will be another time. I would spent 200 dollars only if I know Prince is gonna perform for sure. My message is that Liv and Shelby are through and through musicians and go if you wanna have a good evening!

Maybe all you said is true, but I don't trust people with just one post on this forum. This could also be viral marketing from prince's camp, just like the bought recensions on amazon.
