I appreciate Dr. Funksnberry's blog and all of the Prince updates (let's be honest, I don't read any of the non-Prince stuff), but the stuff that's posted should really be on an official Prince site.

I will be happy to spell-check future blog posts for Dr. Funkenberry in return for being invited to the next rehearsal.

Read more about dr. Funkenberry's report.

Amazing. Dude is a writer by profession yet cannot spell the word soundboard. Yes, that's the level of people Prince is comfortable with. No wonder he was allowed to take notes, lord knows what gibberish he'd otherwise had published.

Of course later on he mistakes "their" for "there" (not that "Kirk Johnson advises their starting to be a crowd of cars lining up to Paisley Park to get in later" makes much sense in the first place), punctiation is random, Prince's name is all-caps for some reason (kiss-ass much?),

Now watch me get banned (and this post get censored) because I dared to point out that DrFB is an embarrassment, though not as embarrassing as Prince associating with him and making him his semi-official mouthpiece.

Bwahahahaha -- oh Bart you really thought you were going to be banned for this post after your neurotic harrassment of Prince's work these past 15 years (at least...)????

I know, you can't actually "harrass" someone's work, but you know you've come as close as anyone on this planet.

That, in itself, is quite a (dubious) accomplishment.

Prince always liked to reinterpret his songs but this setlist has some songs that were not well received or that no one but the fans heard. Choosing Strays -- I am guessing Prince is going through his catalog looking for songs that were not well arranged or that were overproduced.

He did that (and "Courtin' Time") because he now once again has a big band and now he can execute those songs. Has got nothing to do with the quality, since neither is a highlight in his oeuvre. In fact, "Courtin' Time" is amongst his worst.

It's an excellent idea because his is foremost a composer, it's kind of staggering to think about all the melodies he came up with. This year he seems reenergized and completely devoted to music.

Bwahahaha. You have heard his 3rd Eye Girl band, right? The one that still fails to convince as a band 9 months after they were compiled?

No no no no no no nooo -- non, niet, nada -- don't try to act like 3rdeyegirl wasn't well received on tour and at the Billboard award, knowledgeable writers who don't have a two-ton chip on their shoulder like his Crankjesty BVH were impressed by this band. Sorry Prince is on a roll artistically and you are stuck in old, boring patterns in your middle age.

Now go listen to Jack U OfF -- just scratch the U and proceed.

If Prince is avoiding interviews from other reporters (Rolling Stone, Billboard, etc) in favor of a blogger with bad grammar, then yes! Dr. Funkenberry's coverage of Prince will always be a "puff piece" -- all positive, by-the-books on Prince's own terms. Admittedly, DrF is where I get most of my Prince news lately, but that doesn't mean that all tenets of writing go out the window just because Prince is involved. I'm still looking forward to the interview, but spelling and grammar in a written piece kinda kill it IMO.

Please, the guy made a couple of mistakes, big whooping deal. Other, more professional writers and media outlets make them too.

No reason whatsoever to pile on him.

I'm not piling on him . . . I mention 2-3 times above that I frequent his site often and that site is my foremost source for Prince news (other than the Org of course). I would love to see a bunch of reporters given the same opportunity, but hey that's Prince for you!

Sorry, but I think when you agree with Bart's uncalled for venom and imply that "all tenets of writing go out the window", you are piling.

Besides, a whole lot of other reporters have had their opportunity already. Why not be a little happy for the guy he got it now. Sure, I agree it's okay to mention the mistakes in writing, but don't take it over the top like that.

Hopefully their 3 hour conversation/interview isn't a train wreck like most of his interviews, and is about the music and not some bullshit that no one cares about.

Hey. News articles online and in print have errors too.

All you can do is put down someone who was invited to attend and experience and took time out of his day to do a write up so of all us Prince fans can read and enjoy the report on what is going on with Prince and/or the music. He was excited, on his purple high while writing his report, why burst his bubble??

NOW can we ban this troll???

Co sign, really. Bart's been coming for over 10 years now to tell us all why Prince sucks, has sucked for 30 years and contines to keep on sucking and being sucky. I've had my fair share of criticism from time to time myself, but Jesus Christ. BVH takes it to a whole new level of antagonism and negativey, bordering on the sublime.

I sure hope none of you get your hopes up for anything other then a BS interview that is presented as something he's never said or revealed before...not with old dingleberry at the helm... Ugh

Hmm. Don't be so sure.

The first time he talked/interviewed Prince and talked about it on a spreecast episode, he was asking about Prince did not having a YouTube channel and it being free promotion,(After, there was that 3rdeyegirl YT channel), and also said he needs to put out more soundboard recordings for purchase via Metallica and Pearl Jam and DVD's to where Prince told him if people want to watch his shows, I will have Kirk open up the Park and play them the show they want to see. (Seriously Prince?) He brought up master recordings and affairs with Warner Bros and Prince got upset at him, at least that is how I intrepreted it. He even said he shouldn't record covers anymore on albums because it is cheating. LOL

This interview has been discussed before here right? Those are kinds of questions a majority of us would ask. He says they have argued privately about other things but that is for private consumption.

I also like how he put it out there ahead of time that he wants to see him perform "Screwdriver" on Fallon and it happens. This dude has his ear and honestly, I'm glad someone does that is not inside the camp.

Dude needs an editor and I'm hopeful the interview would be good. Now if he can just stop posting about Robin Thicke, that would be even better!
